Hua Hin Being vegan in Hua Hin
Posted: Tue April 24, 2007 07:44 AM UTC
We are thinking of booking a trip to Bangkok and Hua Hin for January.
I think Hua Hin will be the right resort for us, partly because we don't
want to take another flight after we leave Bangkok and partly because
we like places that are fairly quiet but with a choice of restaurants etc.

So, if we do decide to go to Hua Hin, will it be easy to eat as a vegan there?

Hello HuaHin visitors,
I was told that my favourite Restaurant in Hua Hin (Papa John opposite Sofitel) has been moved to a new location - but nobody could tell me were it is now.
Anybody knows? I will be back in HH at Easter.

Hua Hin Hua Hin Experts Please Help
Posted: Sun March 4, 2007 06:05 PM UTC
Hi Guys...I have a request from a journalist at the NY Times who is doing a story about Hua Hin. He'd love some feedback from VT Members who are familiar with Hua Hin. If you're an old hand, I'd appreciate the feedback. Here's his note:

"I am a travel writer with the New York Times travel section. I write often about Asia, and you can see some of my previous articles on the Times web site. I'm doing a new piece on Hua Hin, and I would love to get in contact with people who travel repeatedly to Hua Hin, to get a sense of what they like about it, how it compares to other Thai beach resorts, and which hotels they recommend - I will be there in a few weeks. You can reach me on jkurlantzick@tnr.com
Best,

Joshua Kurlantzick"

Feel free to drop this chap a note, and don't forget to tell him Giampiero sent you.

Take care and thanks,

Giampiero

Posted: Tue December 5, 2006 07:42 AM UTC
Hi!
I was wondering if there are any shops where I can pay with Visa Electron or Master Card? I was hoping to buy some sun glasses and use card to pay them...

And how about tailor shops?
Do they only take cash/money?

What do you think?

Hua Hin Thinking about Hua Hin - any views???
Posted: Sun November 12, 2006 09:54 PM UTC
Looking for an easy break from Bangkok after spending a couple of weeks up north doing some trekking.

Have been to most resorts now (Samui-good, Patong-bad, Ko Samet Phi Phi Koh Chang Krabi - all fantastic) and just want somewhere where we can kick back for a couple of weeks.

Aware it's not obviously going to be as idyllic as Koh Chang or Samet, but just wanted somewhere easy to get to, with some nightlife, nice hotel and to have sanuk with the locals.

Did not enjoy Patong at all, and just hoped it wasn;t similar.

Any views, good, bad or ugly????

Hua Hin Taxi
Posted: Fri November 10, 2006 05:01 AM UTC
Hi all,

We are planning a trip to Hua Hin this month and we are staying at the AKA which is supposed to be quite a bit away from town.

1) any comments on this resort and the area?

2) last time i went to Hua Hin, didn't seem that easy to locate a taxi. There were a few pickup trucks and that was about that. and the tuk tuks were trying to charge us 100 Baht per person to go to 2 blocks away. Anyone know of any good location to get a taxi? or any contacts of a driver which would charge reasonably? We are mainly planning to eat at the pier and may be some pubs.

3) can anyone suggest good and safe night life for 2 girls and WAYS TO GET BACK TO HOTEL LATE NITE, as our resort is up in the mountain? I think thai boxing might be fun but a bit dangerous for 2 girls to hang out? Can anyone give exact location?

Thanks a millions! Sorry for all those questions...

Hua Hin Cha Am-> Regent Chalet + Tailors near by/expencive?
Posted: Tue November 7, 2006 07:34 PM UTC
Hi!
Any comments about the tailors near hotel Regent Chalet?
Are much more expencive than tailors in Hua Hin?

I think it would be easier to have tailor near hotel (easier to go for the fittings and stuff...).
but if they are much more expencive...

Hua Hin First time travelling on my own
Posted: Sun October 15, 2006 07:08 PM UTC
This will be the first time I have travelled on my own to Thailand.

I'm travelling on the 24th November an have not yet booked accommodation. Would anyone be able to suggest a good guest house/cheap hotel? Is it best to book before or is possible to find a place once you arrive?

I stayed at the Hilton Hua Hin last year and would like to stay somewhere around that part. I remember a place called Fresh Inn, has anyone been there?

One last question, getting to Hua Hin from the new airport. Has anyone done it by train or bus? What would you recommend?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Hua Hin HELP !!!!
Posted: Sun October 1, 2006 08:34 PM UTC
We are staying in Hua Hin for 6 nights from the 15th Oct, I have read that the weather is going to be rainy and am not sure how much sun we will get. This is our only holiday for years and I think we have been tricked, as we want to be able to spend at least a full day in the sun on a beach with crystal clear waters and to be pampered! Please can someone make a suggestion as where to go? even if we have to fly there, it is just that we were led to believe that we would be getting the clear waters, pampering service and good weather, however I feel that we may have been mislead. I think that the hotel is ok though, "The Evason Hidaway" ???

Please, any advice??

Hua Hin Rainy Season
Posted: Wed September 6, 2006 07:36 PM UTC
I will be in Thailand between September 27 and October 22. I hear that this is the peak of the rainy season and that it's generally worse in the west of the country. Can anyone let me know roughly how bad it is, and is it so bad that Hua Hin should be avoided altogether?
