Kanchanaburi Resorts by the Waterfalls Posted: Mon March 16, 2009 07:29 AM UTC
Hi Guys!
We will be travelling by car to Kanchanaburi for 2 nights stay. Wondering whether there are any resorts that are right next to the waterfalls or at least have nice streams running in the resort's ground? I know there are a few by the river but I prefer streams and waterfalls to river...
Thanks!

River Kwai Train Journey Posted: Tue February 17, 2009 11:38 AM UTC
I have only a short amount of time in kanchanaburi but was wanting to do some of the journey on the train. From what i have gathered it take 2 & 1/2 hrs to get out to nam tok, so my thought was to take the train to Thakilen and then a cab to return back to kanchanaburi. Does anyone know how much a cab trip would cost and how long it takes to drive ???

I am planning on being in Kanchanaburi in January, and would like to get some recommendations for a nice, well-located hotel. The ones I am considering are the Felix Riverside Kwai, the Oriental Kwai, and the River Kwai Village.

In A Day? Posted: Mon March 31, 2008 05:28 AM UTC
I have one day to travel from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi & return. We arrive in Bangkok at 0910 (via train from Ayuthaya) and would catch the next available bus to Kanchanaburi & would like to see:
Thailand Burma Railway Centre Museum
Kanchanaburi Allied War Cemetary
Kwai River Bridge
World War II Museum
Jeath War Museum
Tiger Temple
Is all this do able or are there places you suggest over the others? What it the best way to see all this in the time that we have?
I understand the last bus runs back to Bangkok at 8pm however we have a train to catch at 1050pm from Bangkok to Surat Thani so would need to leave Kanchanaburi by I'd say 6.30pm at the latest?
Thank you for your help!!

Floating Market and The Death Railway ride in the same day? Posted: Sun March 2, 2008 05:13 AM UTC
I'm planning for a one-day trip from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi. I want to go to floating market in the early morning and then to Kanchanaburi to experience the Kanchanaburi-Tham Krasae part of the Death Railway.
So my questions are: is there direct trasportation from floating market to Kanchanaburi? How long will it take? Is it possible to catch the 10:46 train?
If not, I'm thinking about going to Tham Krasae by taxi, and catch the train back at 13:37 or 16:12. Is that possible?

Accommodation Advice Posted: Mon February 18, 2008 01:25 AM UTC
Hi!
We're on the verge of choosing accommodation in Kanchanaburi and would like some advice as to which one is better.
It has been narrowed down to:
Sugarcane Guesthouse II
Blue Star Guesthouse
Both are around the same price. We're after a guesthouse that is fun and you can interact with fellow travellers, but relaxing at the same time and is also fairly accessable to local attractions, bars and food. We'll be catching local buses from town to various places not in town.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Tiger Temple Tours Posted: Wed December 5, 2007 09:27 AM UTC
My Boyfriend and i want to go to the Tiger Temple from Bangkok. I wanted to know if you can recommend a tour group and rough prices that you might have paid as on the net i seem to get wildly different price ranges and i don't want to pay too much (or too little!)

Sound & Light Show Posted: Thu November 29, 2007 08:45 PM UTC
Where is a good place to watch the Sound & Light Show at the River Kwai RR Bridge. Last year we paid for dinner at Felix Resort but it was very expensive and the buffet was not very good! We just want to have drinks and watch from a restaurant and/or bar along the river! Thanks

Desperate for accommodation suggestions Posted: Tue October 23, 2007 12:55 PM UTC
We have only just booked a holiday in Thailand and subsequently have left it very late to get accommodation in January. We wanted to spend a few days at Kanchanaburi but are unsure where we should stay (let alone whether it would be available). We wanted to be in the city as we read it can be difficult getting transport to the attractions and we were hoping for something with a pool. Any suggestion would be very much appreciated.

Please suggest Posted: Fri April 20, 2007 04:03 AM UTC
Let's assume that one reaches Kanchanburi at around 4 pm, and does Cemetary, Museum (in Kanchanchanburi town) and Bridge on the river Kwai on the same day. Now One is ready to start one's next day early morning.
Would it be possible to do now Tiger Temple, long boat tail River Kwai, Elephant Rides, Erawan Falls - all in one day by starting early monning (and be back to Bangkok by night).
If yes, can anyone please help to plan this itinerary?
Are there tours available that can be purchased in Kanchanburi the previous day, to cover all of above attractions in a single day? Or one would have to hire a taxi?
Any recommendations for tour operator? Or for a taxi driver?
Any inputs in this regard would be appreciated.

Some questions Please Posted: Thu April 12, 2007 05:56 AM UTC
Hi,
Some questions regarding Kanchanburi.
(1) Can you please suggest a nice place to stay for one night? It should not be very far from Kanchanburi town (I have come across some resorts even 50-60 km away from Kanchanburi town. Don’t want something like that :-). Budget – up to 1000 Baht.
(2) I want to purchase tour package to see in and around Kanchanburi (I would like to do Death Railway, Tiger temple, Erawan falls, Elephant riding and rafting in a day). I would like to arrive there the previous night so that I can start early morning to finish all of the above attractions in a day time. Is it feasible?
(3) We are two on the trip (me and my wife). Can I book our tours after reaching Kanchanburi the previous night? Any recommendations / suggestions in this regard 9or any tour operator you’d recommend)?
(4) Can we go from Ayuthaya to Kanchanburi? What’s the best way? How much time it takes for this journey?
Thanks in advance, friends!!!

Transfer from BKK Airport Posted: Wed April 11, 2007 11:28 PM UTC
Hi
We are traveling to Kanchanaburi in May. Our flight arrive in Bangkok at 7pm and we are wondering if it would be best at that time to pre book a transfer, or to rely on getting a taxi?
We have seen transfers available for 2200 baht and are also wondering if this is a resonable rate.
Thanks for any help you may have.

1 Day trip to Floating Market & Kanchanaburi Posted: Thu February 8, 2007 01:19 PM UTC
I'm planning to cover Floating Market & Kanchanaburi in 1 day trip this coming March. How far to travel from Bangkok to floating market and then to Kanchanaburi?
To save time, we would like to charter taxi to cover the journey from Bangkok -> Floating Market -> Kanchanaburi. Any better comment or recommendation apart from charter taxi to cover the above?
