Krabi Hotel Suggestions?
Posted: Sat December 6, 2008 01:54 PM UTC
I am going to be in Krabi in mid-February, and would really like to get some suggestions for a nice, well-located hotel. So far, after looking on the Internet, I am considering the Tubkaak, the Amari, the Rayavadee and the Sheraton. If anyone has stayed at any of these places and can offer some feed-back, that would be very helpful. If there are other places that you would recommend that are better than these, I would like to hear about those as well.

Thanks.

Krabi Booking for February 2009
Posted: Mon November 17, 2008 10:56 PM UTC
Hi, can anyone tell me:

1. Is it necessary to book accommodation in Krabi Town and surrounding resorts at the beginning of February?
2. If so, can you recommend a hotel to stay in Krabi town for a couple of nights? Not too expensive $30 -$40 a night. Maybe I am being unrealistic about prices?
3. And a nice resort or Island? Want to be able to have a late drink and a chat, meeting other people, but nothing hectic. We intend to do sea Kayaking and snorkling.

I am only in the are for around 10 days, and don't really want to book 1 place, I want to keep my options open.

I'd be grateful for any ideas.

Thanks =)

Does anybody have any up-to-date information on the ongoing renovation work at Ao Nang Villas Resort? I think the work was scheduled to be completed sometime in November but have heard there have been delays. I am due to stay there in January and was wondering if the work would be completed by then.

Krabi Transfer from Krabi to Koh Lanta in May 2009
Posted: Mon October 13, 2008 09:55 AM UTC
Hi all, we are planning a trip in May 2009 and are planning on staying in Krabi for a bit and then going to Koh Lanta. I heard that the ferry is not running at that time and wondered what other options are there to get to Koh Lanta. We were quoted 3,000 baht to get to the resort is this reasonable (that is for four people) and how long does it take to drive there? any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Krabi Krabi - Penang - Dilemma ... Assistance & Recommendation Appreciated

Penang - Krabi dilemma…assistance & recommendation Appreciated
How would you spend 14 days in between, if you landed in Penang on the 15th September & flew out from Krabi on the 30th September to connect with our homebound flight from Bangkok?
We don’t know whether to split our time 50-50…7 days Penang & 7 days Krabi
What are your recommendations for budget accommodation?
(Our budget approx. 80MYR or 1000THB per room per night)
What are the options of travelling between the 2 locations?

We’ve visited many other locations in Thailand previously such as Phuket where we did a day trip to Phi Phi, Koh Samui, Koh Tao, Koh Chang, Koh Maak, Koh Kood & also spent 10days on Langawai. And as you can gather love Thailand having repeated visiting some of the above locations.
What’s the must do’s for both places?

Many thanks in advance to your replies

Krabi Safe to go Krabi now?
Posted: Tue September 2, 2008 06:30 AM UTC
My bf and I have booked our air tickets and accommodation for a week long holiday in Krabi from 21 Sept - 27 Sept 2008.

However, with the recent events happening in Thailand which led to the closure of Krabi airport and most recently Bangkok being declared the state of emergency today, we are concern if it is safe for us to continue with our travel plans to the island in 3 weeks time.

Would really appreciate if anyone in this forum could advise on what is the current situation in Krabi and if there are still protestors rallying in the streets etc. and what would your general advice be if you are in our situation.

Thanks!!

Krabi Centara Krabi resort - getting to Railay/Tonsai
Posted: Thu July 10, 2008 10:27 AM UTC
I heard that resort is nice, but quite difficult to get out of on a daily basis. I plan to do some climbing in Railay/Tonsai, I don't quite understand yet how the place is laid out, is it easy to walk between the hotel and Railay/Tonsai? Or do I have to take the boat?

Traveling to Thailand in October, the end of the rainy season. Wondering how is the beach at Railay during this time? I get the feeling in order to snorkel, we need to do excursions out to the various islands. How is the beach on the east side of this penninsula?

Krabi Rock climbing in high season - how busy is it?
Posted: Wed June 4, 2008 10:57 AM UTC
Hi, I was thinking of coming to Krabi for climbing (Railay or Tonsai, don't know yet) for New Year (Dec'07 to Jan'08), but I am hearing it is super-busy, there are lots of people trying to get on routes and that often, you have to wait very long to climb a route. In particular, the easier ones (F5-F6b). Is that true? Is queuing really annoying? For example, if I arrive in the afternoon on an average nice F6a route, should I expect to wait very long to climb it? Or not wait at all? I know that there are hundreds of routes, but I am not sure of the numbers of people who go there every year, especially at the busiest period (around New Year), which is when I am planning to go..

Thanks a lot

Krabi Soggy Railay versus Sunny Tioman or Redang Island or Chiang Mai?
Posted: Fri May 16, 2008 01:22 AM UTC
Hi there,
I'm currently trying to work out what would make a nicer vacation during mid August:
1. Railay, or Ao Nang; or
2. Tioman Island or Redang Island.

So far I've been told that Railay/Ao Nang are more spectacular to look at, and have less sea urchins to sting me, however, the weather there is not ideal (e.g. rainy!) during that time of the year.

Is the rain so bad during August as to make it a bad place to go this time of year? Are there things to do there whilst it rains?

Would I be better off in Tioman or Redang? Are the sea urchins a real problem?

Is Chiang Mai nice in August? Are there things to do even when it rains?

Thanks so much,

P

Krabi Krabi Visit
Posted: Mon April 28, 2008 11:03 AM UTC
Hi, i am currently planning for a trip to Krabi. I planned to book for a hotel called Royal Nakara Ao Nang as they are giving a very special promotion @ stay 3 nights paying for 2. However, I could not get more information about the hotel. I would prefer a hotel with beach. Has any one been there can let me know how is the hotel and its surrounding and perhaps a suggestion for hotel with beach within Ao Nang.

Next, I m quite curious that the hotel does not provide transfer from airport. They are charging me for 700 BHT per van for 10 person. Is that reasonable?

Krabi Bringing a pet dog to Krabi
Posted: Wed April 9, 2008 12:31 PM UTC
I can't seems to find a way of bringing my pet dog to Krabi. Malaysia Airlines only fly to Phuket and Airasia doesn't allow pets on board.
Trains and buses are all not possible too.
I'm thinking of flying with MAS to Phuket first and then travel to Krabi by taxi etc.
I'm just wondering how long will it take to travel by taxi from Phuket to Krabi and how much will it cost me.
Please can somebody give me some tips?
I'm planning to stay in Krabi for 3 weeks with my dog.

Krabi Need advice where to stay ...Phuket....Krabi....PhiPhi?
Posted: Fri February 22, 2008 08:42 AM UTC
Hi i need your help me and my friends will go to ChiangMai from March 15-17 then leave Chiangmai on the 17th to go to Phuket airport. We want to know where is the best place to stay for a 3N/4D (March 17-20). We are confused if we will stay in one of the beaches in Phuket or in Krabi or in PhiPhi Island. What we want is a not so expensive hotel (about 3star) but a decent one and is near the beach that is not so crowded and the water is clear and the sand is powdery white and it has wide shoreline. I'm suggesting that we stay in Loh Dalum Bay area because i've read in some websites that it has good hotels and it has good view. One website describes Loh Dalum Bay as breathtakingly beautiful - almost totally enclosed, it has very shallow water that get gets warmed by the sun to almost the temperature of a warm bath! However, my other friend wants to stay in Krabi bec. she's thinking that staying in Loh Dalum maybe too quiet. My other friend wants to stay somewhere in Phang-Nga Bay. My other friend wants to stay in Patong Beach bec. she thinks it has a nice beach. Since we can't decide where to stay I need your advice.

We don't intend to just stay on the beach. Definitely we will go to James Bond Island, Maya Bay, Phi Phi Lei. We want to snorkel and at the same time go kayaking or canoeing. If we stay in PhiPhi Island like in Loh dalum are there tours there we can get easily if we want to go island hopping and stop for some snorkelling? Or it is better to stay in one of the Krabi beaches because it has nicer beach and we can already snorkel there anytime without getting a snorkel tour?

Do you suggest that we just stay in Krabi and just take an island tour to see the PhiPhi Island and nearby surroundings to snorkel and kayak or the other way around...we stay in PhiPhi Island and take a tour going to Krabi beaches to snorkel and kayak/canoe?

Sorry if i have so many questions. I would really appreciate any feedback that can help us decide where to stay so we can maximize our vacation.

Krabi Krabi weather end April-May
Posted: Fri February 15, 2008 10:40 AM UTC
Hi Everyone

I'm planning to go Krabi on 30th April - 4th May. I read that May is the time where it just pours and pours. The last time I was in Phuket in August (didn't check back then), it rained continuously!

I wish to avoid that mistake but can't find another time to visit Krabi except for the dates above. Has anyone experienced heavy rain during this period of time? I know May is probably the start of the rainy season but I'm wondering if it would just start pouring on 1st May onwards! Hahaha, sounds crazy but who knows right?

Some feedback is much appreciated!
