Krabi Help needed on where to stay
Posted: Tue October 30, 2007 01:40 PM UTC
Hi VTers,

I am beginning the planning of an epic trip starting in Thailand in January.

14/1/08 Singapore
16/1/08 Krabi,PhiPhi
19/1/08 Koh Phangan
23/1/01 ko Samui
24/01/08 bangkok
Yeah I know... packing in a few destinations in a short period of time and we may have to drop something out.

I will arrive in Krabi with a friend on Jan 16 at 10 pm. We thought we would stay on PhiPhi but I now realise that we will have to go the next day.

I would appreciate advice on where to stay for that first night and options on getting to PhiPhi, probably the next day.

Next question is:
Our next plan is to get to Koh Phangan for the full moon party on Jan 22. How should we get there and were would be a good place to stay. I would also appreciate feedback from anyone who has been to a full moon party.

This is our first time to Thailand.

Thanking you in advance. I would appreciate all advice.

Krabi Getting to Phuket from Krabi
Posted: Sat October 27, 2007 05:22 PM UTC
We need to get from Krabi to Phuket and would love suggestions on the fastest (and safest) way to get there. We've heard there are flights, but can't find anything online that we can book. Should we rent a car? Hire a private boat? (Are there even such options?) Our hotel is on the northwest part of Phuket Island about 20 mins. south of the airport. Thanks for your help!!

Krabi plane ticket to Krabi and need hotel recommendation
Posted: Tue October 16, 2007 09:01 PM UTC
Hi,
I need to book a flight from Bangkok to Krabi.
AirAsia has it for for about $185 round trip. Any website I can use to get a better price?

Also, need recommendations for a Hotel in Krabi.
Looking for one within walking distance to the beach and not too expensive (approx $100-$150 per night).
Will be staying Dec 30 - Jan 2.
Looking for a hotel that would not require you to buy their New Year's Eve dinner.

I'm so confused about the different beaches - Ao Nang,Krabi etc. Are all the beaches close to each other? Anyone have a good map of Krabi?

Any opinions on the following hotels?...

http://www.agoda.com/asia/thailand/krabi/thepparat_lodge_krabi.html

http://www.agoda.com/asia/thailand/krabi/buri_tara_resort.html

http://www.agoda.com/asia/thailand/krabi/best_western_ban_ao_nang_resort.html

Thanks,
Tom

Krabi 7 Nights in Krabi - What should we do - Where should we go????
Posted: Sun October 14, 2007 07:36 AM UTC
Hi Fellow VTers

I've read the reviews, got my lonely planet but I want to cover all the bases. We're staying at the Sheraton for 7 nights. I know this is a bit out of town (Ao Nang) but that's ok with us. So my questions are;
What else should I know about the Sheraton?
What should we do for 7 nights in Krabi?
Where should we visit?
What other advice do you think would be handy?

I appreciate any advice or thoughts and I look forward to reading them.

Cheers

Krabi Krabi 17oct - 22oct
Posted: Thu September 27, 2007 03:24 AM UTC
Hello!

I am planning my trip to Krabi from 17thOct to 22nd Oct.
How is the weather currently? I am just afraid to experience rainy days for my entire trip..has anyone experienced the weather in Krabi during Oct?

I am planning to stay in Buri Tara Resort near to Ao Nang.. Any comment on this resort?
Also, i am planning to rent a jeep to drive around... maybe to krabi town.. is it safe and easy for someone who hasn't been to krabi before?
How much would the rental cost?

I have been to Phi Phi Island before when i was in Phuket..and tried elephant riding..
IS there any islands/ things i have to see and do for my 6 days there?
Thanks to advise how i can reach these places as well...and pricing too!

Lastly, for the transfer from airport, is it easy to get a taxi in airport? and what is the rate i would expect to pay?
Buri Tara quote me 300bhat per person per trip for the transfer.. i do not know if that is reasonable..

Thanks for your advices.

Cheers to all holiday lovers!

Krabi Other transportation option to Phi Phi other than the ferry
Posted: Sun September 23, 2007 03:06 AM UTC
Here is our predicament:

We are arriving mid-afternoon on November 23 in Krabi and we are thinking of going straight to Phi Phi Island and spend November 24 and head to Railay on November 25 in the afternoon.

Saw that there is only one ferry boat that leaves Krabi and it's at 9ish in the morning, so that leaves us but to leave on the 24th, but we don't want that since we want to make the most of our two days in Phi Phi.

Question:
Is there a private boat we can hire to take us to Phi Phi in the afternoon of the 23rd and then pick us up on the 25th, in the afternoon?

Is it worth it? Any idea how much it would be?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Has anyone stayed at the Railay Beach Resort and Spa on Railay Beach West? Any thoughts or experience?

We will be arriving November 23 and will be there until November 28. We're thinking of doing:

Phuket Day Trip: November 24

And just check out the local area in Railay on November 26 and 27.

Any MUST to-do things while in Railay/Krabi area?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Krabi Transport around Krabi
Posted: Mon September 17, 2007 04:38 PM UTC
Hello fellow Vters,
Six of us will be going to Krabi for 2 nights later this month. We are flying Air Asia and would like to know if we can hire a van or 4wheel tut tut to meet us at the airport and maybe to also take us around if it is not too expensive. We will be staying in the town but would also like to visit the beach. Are there interesting places to visit. Also we would like to try the local food so would welcome some suggestions.
Thank you.

Krabi Ao Nang/Krabi/Rei Lei.....very confused!
Posted: Sun September 9, 2007 12:53 AM UTC
Hi everyone, just a quick question..
heading to Thailand at the end of November & staying for nearly a month..we are staying at the Phra Nang Inn in Ao Nang...we just assumed this was "krabi"..however when reading the lonely planet thailand book it said Ao Nang beach is not very nice and although the hotel (Phra Nang Inn) is lovely you would be better off to stay in Krabi or Rai Lei........just a little confused, is Krabi the province? or a town? and how far away is Ao Nang from Krabi & Rai Lei beaches? would it be worth travelling there to go to the beaches each day? approx how much would it cost to travel there and how would you do this?

Thank you!

Krabi Krabi or Phuket?
Posted: Sun August 26, 2007 01:57 PM UTC
Hi, I'll be in the area from 21st Dec - 27th, approximately. I'm thinking that it may be an idea to book accommodation over the internet before I arrive as it'll be pretty fully booked when I get there. I guess my first question is, is that correct? (I'm looking for budget stuff). Second, if I do have to book now, would you recommend Krabi or Phuket? What's the difference? I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks. Dan.

Krabi Ao Luek Province/Krabi
Posted: Sat August 18, 2007 02:26 AM UTC
Hi,I'm signed up to do some volunteer work in the Ao Luek province of Krabi this coming December. Is anyone familiar with this area? What can you tell me about it's location and what the area is like? Also, I hear December is high season. What can I expect for temperature/rainfall? and how are the mosquito's at that time? I'll be living with a local family, and hints about what this might be like would be appreciated!

thanks in advance!

Krabi Krabi End 0ctober - Beginning November weather??
Posted: Tue August 7, 2007 10:49 AM UTC
Hi,

I am looking to come to thailand at the end of october and was thinking of coming to Krabi. Will the weather be nice and if not which other islands are good to go to which will have nice weather...The internet says so many contrasting things about the weather its become too confusing...

I have only got about a week on an island and do not want the weather to be overcast and rainy the whole time.

If anyone has been at this time of year and could let me know what to expect then that would be great and also nice places to stay.

Best,
Michelle

Krabi going krabi on around 17th October 2007
Posted: Mon August 6, 2007 07:07 AM UTC
Hi everyone,
i would really appreciate if someone could let me know if it is advisable to travel to Krabi around mid Oct. I understand that the weather is not very good during this period.. but how bad can it be?
Nov is a super peak period, and i would certainly wish to avoid that..and its unlikely to travel at the very end of oct as i have some commitments in Singapore.
I would like to stay in Buri Tara Resort hotel. Does anyone stayed there before? Can kindly advise? :)

Krabi 1st Trip to Krabi
Posted: Thu August 2, 2007 04:42 AM UTC
hei there fellow vt's

My boyfriend and I are going for our first holiday together at the end of August and since neither of us have been to Krabi, we are quite looking forward to this trip. I've been left in charge to organize this trip and I've managed to get our flights sorted out, but I'm now scratching my head on accomadation, weather as well as things to do. Boyfriend's a diver and I'm not, so I have to make sure, he is able to dive as well and me.. well! Snorkle..

Any ideas of a good beach area, that I can walk along and also swim and snorkel? From the forum, I gather the most popular areas are Railley... rite? Also can anyone advice me on the weather there, heard there were high waves and some areas closed... Please if anyone could advice. Many thanks......

Krabi Ideas on Hotels in Krabi
Posted: Tue July 24, 2007 01:58 AM UTC
Hi Vters,

Will be visiting Krabi 31Jan - 03Feb 2008. Its the super high season in Krabi and hotel rates are really expensive. Can anyone suggest or give us some ideas of any reasonable price, nice clean hotel in Ao Nang area for triple room?
Any comments on Krabi La Playa Resort? Since our stay is just a few days, will it be a hassle if we choose to stay at the Holiday Inn Phi Phi island.
