Bangkok Where to stay in Bangkok
Posted: Thu October 15, 2009 06:01 PM UTC
Hi
What do you reckon is the best place to stay for 3 nights in Bangkok, with good transport links. Khao San Road seems the obvious choice, but is there anywhere better? Not looking to flash loads of cash, but also not necessarily on the tightest of budgets either. Any ideas? You don't have to be exact, just a rough idea of a location and then i can get on tinterweb to research further.
cheers.

Bangkok Cheapest Bed
Posted: Thu October 15, 2009 12:41 AM UTC
Im looking for the absolute cheapest places to stay throughout thailand as i am coming in november for a month. For bangkok the first few nights i would like to book ahead of time so i have a place when i get there late at night. i am looking for the CHEAPEST place around that is located in a place that wont be expensive to get around to the sights either...(if a place is really cheap but very far away thus making travel expensive thats no good.)

Bangkok Tiger Temple
Posted: Wed October 14, 2009 09:24 AM UTC
Hi
Another question for y'all, its about the Tiger temple in Kanchanburi. I am reading conflicting things, some people are full of praise whilst others claim it to be full of sedated Tigers abducted from their natural habitat and who end up as meat and wine in the Chinese markets.
Anyone know for sure what the score is, cos I'd like to go, but not if theres any element of mistreatment or abuse.
Cheers
Ally.

Bangkok Buying Clothes
Posted: Wed October 14, 2009 09:17 AM UTC
Hi
I was going to come to Bangkok with very little baggage and do some shopping there, but is the fact that i am 6ft 4in and 18 stone(250 pounds) going to be a problem. I assume that there will be some xxl sizes, but how much of a struggle is it usually to find such sizes.

Bangkok bangkok skyrail.
Posted: Tue October 13, 2009 01:54 PM UTC
hello,

i have been looking online for a map of bangkok which also has the 2 skyrail lines on it without success. would anyone have a link to a map like this which will help me plan where i am going to go when i'm in bangkok. i would much rather use public transport than get taxis or tuk tuks.

does anyone also have price information ie day ticket prices or weekly ticket prices for the skyrail?

many thanks,

mike

Bangkok Travel agents in S E Asia vs booking online
Posted: Mon October 12, 2009 02:26 PM UTC
Hi
Thanks to everyone about my previous question. Got another one though.
In general, is it better to pre-book flights to saigon or hanoi from bangkok or does it usually work out the same if you book whilst there.
For example, i intend to fly from Bangkok to either Hanoi or Saigon at the start of December. Should i book flights now, or just do it whilst in Bangkok. If its not going to be too much difference in price, i'll just sort it out whilst there to keep our options open about when and where to go.
Cheers.

Ok, strange question i know but does anybody happen to know here i can by a babyphone in Bangkok? You can't buy them here in Myanmar so Bangkok is the closest place for me to have a look. Does one of the big supermarkets happen to sell them?

Thanks

Bangkok Renting a motorbike in Bangkok
Posted: Sun October 11, 2009 09:21 PM UTC
I'm interested in renting a motorbike in Bangkok and I don't recall seeing rentals while in Bangkok during previous visits.

I almost feel stupid to ask this question since I'm currently living in Pattaya, however, I don't recall seeing rentals. Granted, I've usually gone to Bkk with the intent on using BTS or MRT. Although I've walked down many a streets (Soi's), nothing stands out. I also don't recall seeing tourists riding around town on motorbikes; I can recall seeing motorbike taxi or locals on motorbikes?

Does Bkk have some law or unwritten rule to prevent tourists from renting motorbikes in Bkk, thus, promoting their public transportation system (which is top notch)?

Here's what I'm looking at doing within the next week or so: I want travel from Pattaya to Bkk and arrive either at the Ekammai Bus Terminal or get off early at Onnut, or arrive at the Mo Chit bus terminal. I would like to be able to rent from a shop as close as possible to either one of those bus terminals. Even the south bus terminal is always an option.

FYI: I have a GPSr with "ALL" Thailand maps installed, including 1 way streets. Driving around Bkk is not going to be an issue. I know it would be a lot less hassle for me than using all the other choices (BTS, MRT, Meter Taxi, Tuk-Tuk, Motorbike Taxi, City Bus).

*** I did take note to a recently published question regarding motorcycle shops but it didn't specify rentals.

Thanks.

Bangkok SHOPPING FOR BARGAINS IN BANGKOK
Posted: Sun October 11, 2009 03:19 PM UTC
Hi,

Myself and my partner are planning on doing lots of clothes shopping when we get to Bangkok in January 2010.

Is it really cheap for clothes etc in Bangkok? Because if it is, I won't bring that many clothese with me, for our ten night trip.

If anyone can advise on the cost for "Ugg Boots" for my girlfriend, that would be great to?

We plan on buying designer labelled clothes, and it doesnt really matter if its fake or not. Does anyone know if non fake clothes are still cheap?

Also, can anyone supply any websites on shopping malls in Bangkok?

Thanks ever so much in advance,

Anton

Bangkok ping pong show
Posted: Thu October 8, 2009 04:50 PM UTC
hi again.

Im here in bangkok ryt now, tired from a day of shopping.

Me and my 2 friends will go to Ayuthaya tomorrow morning till 5pm. We are very curious about the famous pingpong show at patpong and plans to go there around 7pm.

We were warned by the tour agency, who arranged our trip to Ayuthaya, to be careful in entering bars with 100baht entrance because of posible scams. She then offered us a package for an exotic show for 500 baht, transpo included but no food or drinks. We told her we'll think about it since 500 seems xpensive. My questions are:

1. Is the offer reasonable?
2. If we decide to go there on our own, do you have any suggestions on what clubs are safe? Those that will not overcharge us.

Thank you.

Bangkok Commute/Walking Directions from Pratunam to Ranatakosin/Lumphini
Posted: Tue October 6, 2009 01:06 AM UTC
Hi again. We will be ariving in BKK tomorrow night. So excited..
Last minute questions though.

1.Would like to ask commute directions and fare costs by train or river (since I heard traffic in BKK is as heavy as here in Manila) from Pratunam Area (Our hotel, Citin Pratunam is near Baiyoke Hotel) to Ranatakosin (aiming to visit Grand Palace). If by train or by river is not an option, then may I ask how do we go there via a bus. =)

2.From a map, it seems that Pratunam to Lumphini (and to Patpong afterwards) is only walking distance away. Is that correct? If not, any transpo directions and fare costs to Lumphini Area?
