Bangkok 4 day BKK trip itinerary - What can u say?
Posted: Fri July 3, 2009 04:02 PM UTC
Hi guys! My husband and I have been looking forward our BKK trip. After doing some research, here is what I’ve gathered, thus turned it into our 4-day itinerary. Again, you guys have been reliable since day one of our trips around the globe so I hope you can share your generous opinions as to where to go/where to eat/must-see or what not to miss..

DAY 1: ARRIVAL ON A SATURDAY @ 1435H
1.We’ll spend 1st day doing all shopping after quickly unpacking. Where would you recommend we go first? Siam Paragon, MBK, Pan Thip Plaza – dvds; Chatuchak Weekend Market, Suan Lum Night Bazaar
2.Dinner/ Nightlife districts @ Sukhumvit Rd; Night Market @ Sukhumvit – any suggestions on where to go/where to eat/must-see or what not to miss?

DAY 2, SUNDAY – AYUTTHAYA/FLOATING MARKET
1.A day-trip to Ayutthaya – is a half day trip enough for this? How much is a taxi ride to/from here?
2.Go to Floating Market at Talad Nam Damnoen Saduak, the Rose Garden (Thai shows, dances, marriage, elephants, and Thai village; is it better if we get a tour for this? Suggestions please.
3.Dinner/ Nightlife districts @ Khao san road; Is Patpong Market near here? How much to watch ladyboy show? – any suggestions on where to go/where to eat/must-see or what not to miss?

DAY 3, MONDAY: CITY/TEMPLES TOUR
1.Chao Phraya River Tour – is this different from canals/klongs tour?
2.Visit the Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Po, etc
3.Optional: Go to Jim Thompson House/ Vimanmek Mansion – manageable?
4.Sunset dinner cruise - should this be booked? Or can we just walk in? For how much?
5.Nightlife districts @ Silom Village – any suggestions on where to go/where to eat/must-see or what not to miss?

DAY 4: DEPARTURE – What would you recommend from 8AM to 11AM? Our flight back home is at 3PM.

From the looks of it, Bangkok is gonna be my next favorite city 
Thanks thanks again.

Bangkok get a tour package or explore the city by ourselves?
Posted: Wed July 1, 2009 03:18 AM UTC
My husband and I are going to bangkok this weekend for at least 3-4 days. it is our first time in Bangkok but we've travelled to other asian countries without getting a tour guide/package. from my research, bangkok is a great destination but above complex than other countries like singapore or malaysia so i'm having 2nd thoughts on wandering the city by ourselves.

i've created my own day 1 to 4 itineraries (including visiting the famous sights including grand palace, what po, jj market, etc etc, eating at the best restos, etc) but actually getting to and from these places is still the big question/adventure.

i would appreciate your recommendations as to when/where it is best to get a tour and when/where it is best to just explore by foot (on our own). we don't wanna waste time guessing :-)

Thank you all in advance.

Bangkok Bangkok - Hotel near Airport
Posted: Mon June 29, 2009 09:27 PM UTC
Can anyone recommend a hotel for under $60 US per night near the airport (Suvarnabhumi) that would pick me up for free at the airport ? Hopefully something quiet and clean - I don't need anything else.

Bangkok Very Specific Bangkok question
Posted: Mon June 29, 2009 03:00 AM UTC
I have posted the same question for Singapore but also considering Bangkok...please don't delete either.

I am looking for a very specific Bangkok experience...not one like that...and I want to let you all know what I am looking for and maybe you can direct me in the right direction.

First I am looking for a decent hotel close to any beaches, if possible.

Second I want to know of a decent casino that has a Texas Hold'em card room.

Third and last I would like to be close to the night life, clubs/bars etc etc.

Basically I want to hang on the beach during the day, gamble some at night, and go to the clubs at night. Any help would be great.

Bangkok A day in Bangkok with kids - any advice?
Posted: Fri June 26, 2009 07:55 PM UTC
3 Kids, some luggage and 9 hours. We start at the new Airport at 08h00 on a Friday and need to be at the Hua Lamphong Train station by 18h00.
1) What do we do with our luggage?
2) Where should we go? (kids are 3yrs, 7 and 16)(was thinking of going on the canal but wouldn't know where how who and perhaps the Palace - what do you think?)
3) I hear traffic is a problem so what transport would you recommend?
4) Any other advice?
I need to plan our day so that we get the most out of it because we won't be back in BKK again for some time. Any advice welcome!
Thanks A.

Bangkok First time to bangkok
Posted: Fri June 26, 2009 04:24 AM UTC
Hi... I'm planning bring my parents to Bangkok and this is our first time.

Therefore, I'd like to ask few questions:
1) Do the locals understand English ? Can we use English there ?
2) Is the transportation there user-friendly ? Can we actually travel on our own without need to sign up for a tour.
3) Are all the sign boards written in Thai ?
3) What is the good place to stay.. (i.e. near the shopping area ?)

Really appreciate your answer/suggestions.

Thank you very much

Bangkok Choice of hotel - Pan Pacific, Novotel Siam Square or Vie Hotel?
Posted: Tue June 23, 2009 04:24 AM UTC
Hi Guys,

I will be staying twice in Bangkok in July. 2 nights and then a few days later, 3 nights. Intend to try out 2 different hotels. Currently Accor Hotels is on sale and I found really good rates for Vie Hotel and Novotel Siam Square. However, I also like the look of Pan Pacific (but at a much higher rate). My criteria for accommodation choice are :
Lively and safe surrounding containing cafes, street vendors, traditional massages. Don't fancy walking along small quiet lanes under hot sun.
Very close to BTS/MRT.
The two hotels shouldn't be too close to each other as I'd prefer to try out differing environments on my 2 stays.
Which of the 3 hotels would you suggest? I am familiar to Bangkok but just never stayed in Siam/Silom area.

Hi,
My husband & I will be travelling to Bangkok in December (first time) and were wondering if anyone had any feedback on the Centre Point Silom Hotel, especially the location. How far is it to the Temples, Lumphini park & Kao San Road? Is it worth staying there or do you have other recommendations?
Thanks so much!!

Bangkok One and a half day in Bangkok
Posted: Wed June 17, 2009 02:31 PM UTC
Hi,
I'll arrive in Bangkok on a Saturday afternoon around 1430 and I'll probably leave very early (6 am) on Monday morning (if not even Sunday night).
I definitely want to go to the weekend market, so I was thinking of going there straight from the airport..do you think I have enough time? Or shall I go the day after? Can you suggest me a cheap hotel next to it?
It's my boyfriend first time there so he would like to seeightsee a bit..what do you suggest? The Royal Palace is a must do and what else?
I also want to go either to Vertigo or Sirocco for drinks -I think dinner is expensive :-( - do I have to book for drinks?
Thanks!!
