Ko Phi Phi Don Phi Phi accomodation...going slightly mad
Posted: Sun May 4, 2008 03:31 PM UTC
Please can someone help out, i've been browsing hotel sites, review sites, hostel sites for about 3 days now trying to decide where to stay on phi phi and it's driving me insane.

I've been before and stayed at Phitarom which I have to say was fantastic for the money, clean, luxurious, chilled out, excellent staff. Now you're thinking why not just stay there again.

Well, as nice as it was, it wasn't beachfront and this time on phi phi we really want a beachfront place. We're not fussy as long as it's reasonably clean, reasonably secure, friendly atmosphere and not more than about £30/night...we can go up to £50/night without a problem, but would prefer to go lower if possible.

We will be staying for 6/7 nights, the final week of our 2 week stay in thailand. We want to be close enough to the village to be able to walk into town and party if we feel like it and also be able to walk back home again in a drunken state. Howevever we don't want to be too close so we can just chill and relax in our chosen accomodation if we want to for a few days.

Long beach has jumped out at us, mainly because of the snorkelling and closeness to hin phae (goat reef) this is a must for us whereever we stay, has to be good swimming and snorkelling...however we're worried it may be a little too far to talk home if we're drunk.

I'm going to stop rambling on now, would appreciate any suggestions, thanks!

Ko Phi Phi Don hotel suggestions needed
Posted: Tue April 22, 2008 12:45 AM UTC
Hi there,

We have 1 week to stay on Koh Phi Phi, May 4-11.
This week is all about relaxation before our first baby comes! We are looking for a nice hotel with a pool, room with a balcony and a location that's not too remote.

Does anyone have a suggestion for us? We hope to spend less than $100US a night.

Will we need to book the entire week in advance, or can we book maybe the first night to make sure the hotel is what we want and then look around? I notice that May 1 is the start of low season pricing, so maybe it's not too busy?

Any tips or suggestions welcome.
Thanks!

I'm going to Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia June 16-July 17. I've always wanted to go to the southern areas, specifically Raileh beach, Phi Phi area, but I'm getting the impression that weather will be bad and boat travel will be unavailable. Can anyone offer advice? Thanks!

Ko Phi Phi Don Ko Phi Phi Don Accomodations & Night life
Posted: Mon March 10, 2008 03:57 AM UTC
So I'm heading to Ko Phi Phi w/ my sister for a week from April 6-12. We are looking for a reasonably nice place to stay. At first we were thinking the Andaman Beach Resort but after reading these forums I see thats not a good idea. I'd like to find a place thats moderately priced ($600-$800 for the week) and relatively close to a night life. Was also considering the Phi Phi Natural Resort???

Also, is it difficult getting around to different parts of the island. I don't really have a good perception for distances and travel methods on the island.

Any help/information would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Ko Phi Phi Don Accomodations in Koh Phi Phi & Koh Lanta July
Posted: Sun March 2, 2008 10:19 PM UTC
Hello,

I'm wondering what the availability of accomodations in Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta is in early July. I was planning on reserving a room online for the first night, and then looking around for other places if I'm not happy at this location.

Is it a problem finding available rooms this time of year? I'm assuming it's not since it is the low season. We will be looking for a 3-4 star resort with bungalows near the beach.

Thank you!

Ko Phi Phi Don Krabi Vs Phi Phi
Posted: Thu January 24, 2008 03:13 AM UTC
We're heading to Krabi in April for only about a week and want to know if it is worthwhile spending a night or two of our short stay, or three, on phi phi instead. I have mixed expectations from it being a highlight with lots of 'authentic' thai experiences to it being backpacker/tourist-oriented, not ideal for cooling off in the april heat and although beautiful, not much sign of the thai people going about their everyday business.

I also want to know frequently the boats go between phi phi and krabi.

Thank you

Looking for any recommendations as to the best place to book a sea kayak trip. Also, what else is there to do on the island (besides absolutely nothing on the beach, which I am looking forward to).

We are staying at Phi Phi Island Beach Village.

I am trying to plan a trip to our favorite Thai destination for Christmas... with our two invasive toddlers ;)

I've always wanted to stay at the Princess Resort but have heard it is still in renovation :( Is this true? Is the Island still undergoing massive renovations or is it pretty quite now?

Can someone please recommend a centrally-located yet quite hotel? I'm looking for ****

hello all

me and the wife are currently on koh tao. we would like to visit phi phi in about two weeks, but have been put off by one or two locals on koh tao telling us not to go as the weather is very poor.

if you'd be so kind as to tell us how it really is and if you had a web link with current details that would be excellent. i have looked and cant find anything useful.

Ko Phi Phi Don From Phuket to Maya Bay
Posted: Tue July 31, 2007 07:17 AM UTC
I have some questions that I'd like to clear. The reason why id asked this is because we can only stay for a night in either Phuket or Phi Phi, we have to fly back to Bangkok the day after.

a. In Phuket, how far is the port going to Phi Phi from the bus stations that came from Bangkok?
b. What is the travel time from Phuket to Phi Phi
c. How much is the regular fare from Phuket to Phi Phi
d. We will arrive in Phuket at around 9am, we want to go straight to Maya Bay, is that possible? Can someone advise me what can be a possible itinerary for that plan.
e. If you only have a chance to stay for one night and just want to see Maya Bay, where do you prefer to stay overnight, in Phi Phi or in Phuket?

Sorry for too many questions.

Thank you.

Ko Phi Phi Don From Bangkok to (Phuket or Krabi) Going to Phi Phi?
Posted: Tue July 24, 2007 07:39 AM UTC
This may require a long answer, we'll be in Bangkok by September, our first stop is Cambodia then go to Phi Phi to see the famous Maya Bay. I'm just confuse, if I we'll go back to Bangkok from our Cambodia trip, and we want to go to Phi Phi, how can we go there, were just planning to take a bus ( that will save us one night from staying in a hotel, hehe )Should we take a bus going to Krabi or to Phuket??? And if you also know some sites that shows the bus schedules and fares, that would be great, thanks!

Ko Phi Phi Don Phi phi villa resort - July
Posted: Tue June 26, 2007 10:48 AM UTC
Me & my boyfriend will be staying at the phi phi villa resort for a week in July. We r looking forward to some quiet time and most of all the trips to all the islands and snorkeling. I have read really bad reviews about this resort but I have read bad reviews about most of the resorts (apart from phi phi village resort - of course because its much more expensive!!!), so if any one has stayed here please give me your good feedback, i do not want to know the bad things anymore, they are just making me nervous & worried. Everything is in walking distance I believe because its soo small and is there a variety of foods/cuisines to choose from?!
What else would you recommend doing whilst we are here?
Thanks

Ko Phi Phi Don 'Best way to see the 'sights'?
Posted: Sat June 23, 2007 10:42 AM UTC
My friend and I are staying here for 4 days and want to spend a day seeing some of the islands and generally spending some time at the sights and do some snorkelling. We are aware of day trips and that you can hire longboats for this. We don't want to be too rushed so I guess we'll probably go for the longboats but how much should we pay? Are there any tours that are worthwhile? We don't want to spend too much money if possible. Any suggestions will be welcome

Ko Phi Phi Don Phuket to Phi Phi Don
Posted: Fri June 22, 2007 10:16 AM UTC
HI VT'ers - we are arriving in Phuket town at around 9am - and want to get over to Phi Phi Don as soon as we can.

Do we need to wait for the regular ferry, or are we better off renting a private boat to take us there ?

What is the cost of a private boat vs the cost of the regular ferry ?

Thanks.
