Catching a ferry to Phi Phi - where to arrive & buy tickets... Posted: Fri October 23, 2009 03:38 AM UTC
Just need a bit of clarification...Is Rassada pier right in Phuket town? If so, can we take a mini bus from the airport into town and walk to the pier or is it better to take a taxi and go directly to the pier (trying to stay on a budget)? Is it better to book my ferry tickets in advance or should we just buy them when we get to the pier? We will be arriving mid-December. Thanks!

Nice hotel at Koh Phi Phi Posted: Mon March 2, 2009 12:42 PM UTC
We are planning to spend 1 night at Koh Phi Phi on our way from Krabi to Phuket, and need advice on where to stay? We are looking for a nice hotel close to one of the beaches, preferably a beach where it's nice to go snorkeling. It would also be great if the hotel is not a long walk from where the ferries to/from Krabi/Phuket leaves from.

budget accommodation in Phi Phi Posted: Tue October 28, 2008 04:54 AM UTC
I am going to Phi Phi around Nov 14, and have been looking for cheap accommodation online. there doesnt seem to be many options below 1000baht, if any at all. Anyone know if theres a better chance of scoring cheap accommodation by just showing up and hunting? or any recommendations where to book online? thanks in advance!

Do you know any reliable company offering excursions in the area?

Rock climbing in Phi Phi - ANY feedback? Posted: Tue July 8, 2008 06:04 PM UTC
I am planning to do a week of rock climbing in Phi Phi in January 2009.
Can anyone share their experience of climbing there? In particular I am interested
(1) is it easy (like it is supposed to be in Railay) to meet other climbers and pair up? I will be coming with a girlfriend who does not climb
(2) are the climbing areas less crowded than Railay/Tonsai? I heard that at Railay/Tonsai in high season (i.e. January) you often have to wait to climb a route etc. and I am looking to avoid such situations by going to Phi Phi
(3) generally, is the climbing good? The quality of routes, selection (F5-F6b range interests me most).
Accomodation: Given that the island is rather small, I guess ANY hotel on Phi Phi Don will be convenient?
Any feedback is much appreciated!
Thanks

Natural Resort Posted: Wed May 28, 2008 01:03 PM UTC
We are planning a holiday in Thailand for early next year and have already chosen accommodation in two locations.
We'd also like to visit Ko Phi Phi Don and the website for Natural Resort looks good - and so does the price. BUT, there are mixed reviews from several Forums - from the sublime to the downright disgusting!
Has anyone stayed there recenltly? We're looking for a quiet location, simple clean rooms with private bathroom and good snorkelling.
Any recent information will be helpful. Thanks.

Phi Phi accomodation...going slightly mad Posted: Sun May 4, 2008 04:31 PM UTC
Please can someone help out, i've been browsing hotel sites, review sites, hostel sites for about 3 days now trying to decide where to stay on phi phi and it's driving me insane.
I've been before and stayed at Phitarom which I have to say was fantastic for the money, clean, luxurious, chilled out, excellent staff. Now you're thinking why not just stay there again.
Well, as nice as it was, it wasn't beachfront and this time on phi phi we really want a beachfront place. We're not fussy as long as it's reasonably clean, reasonably secure, friendly atmosphere and not more than about £30/night...we can go up to £50/night without a problem, but would prefer to go lower if possible.
We will be staying for 6/7 nights, the final week of our 2 week stay in thailand. We want to be close enough to the village to be able to walk into town and party if we feel like it and also be able to walk back home again in a drunken state. Howevever we don't want to be too close so we can just chill and relax in our chosen accomodation if we want to for a few days.
Long beach has jumped out at us, mainly because of the snorkelling and closeness to hin phae (goat reef) this is a must for us whereever we stay, has to be good swimming and snorkelling...however we're worried it may be a little too far to talk home if we're drunk.
I'm going to stop rambling on now, would appreciate any suggestions, thanks!

hotel suggestions needed Posted: Tue April 22, 2008 01:45 AM UTC
Hi there,
We have 1 week to stay on Koh Phi Phi, May 4-11.
This week is all about relaxation before our first baby comes! We are looking for a nice hotel with a pool, room with a balcony and a location that's not too remote.
Does anyone have a suggestion for us? We hope to spend less than $100US a night.
Will we need to book the entire week in advance, or can we book maybe the first night to make sure the hotel is what we want and then look around? I notice that May 1 is the start of low season pricing, so maybe it's not too busy?
Any tips or suggestions welcome.
Thanks!

Is it worth going to Phi Phi/Krabi area in June/July? Posted: Fri April 4, 2008 03:15 AM UTC
I'm going to Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia June 16-July 17. I've always wanted to go to the southern areas, specifically Raileh beach, Phi Phi area, but I'm getting the impression that weather will be bad and boat travel will be unavailable. Can anyone offer advice? Thanks!

Ko Phi Phi Don Accomodations & Night life Posted: Mon March 10, 2008 04:57 AM UTC
So I'm heading to Ko Phi Phi w/ my sister for a week from April 6-12. We are looking for a reasonably nice place to stay. At first we were thinking the Andaman Beach Resort but after reading these forums I see thats not a good idea. I'd like to find a place thats moderately priced ($600-$800 for the week) and relatively close to a night life. Was also considering the Phi Phi Natural Resort???
Also, is it difficult getting around to different parts of the island. I don't really have a good perception for distances and travel methods on the island.
Any help/information would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Accomodations in Koh Phi Phi & Koh Lanta July Posted: Sun March 2, 2008 11:19 PM UTC
Hello,
I'm wondering what the availability of accomodations in Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta is in early July. I was planning on reserving a room online for the first night, and then looking around for other places if I'm not happy at this location.
Is it a problem finding available rooms this time of year? I'm assuming it's not since it is the low season. We will be looking for a 3-4 star resort with bungalows near the beach.
Thank you!

Krabi Vs Phi Phi Posted: Thu January 24, 2008 04:13 AM UTC
We're heading to Krabi in April for only about a week and want to know if it is worthwhile spending a night or two of our short stay, or three, on phi phi instead. I have mixed expectations from it being a highlight with lots of 'authentic' thai experiences to it being backpacker/tourist-oriented, not ideal for cooling off in the april heat and although beautiful, not much sign of the thai people going about their everyday business.
I also want to know frequently the boats go between phi phi and krabi.

Thank you

Accommodation on Phi Phi for a family with 2 toddlers Posted: Wed October 24, 2007 10:56 PM UTC
Hello,
I am trying to plan a trip to our favorite Thai destination for Christmas... with our two invasive toddlers ;)
I've always wanted to stay at the Princess Resort but have heard it is still in renovation :( Is this true? Is the Island still undergoing massive renovations or is it pretty quite now?
Can someone please recommend a centrally-located yet quite hotel? I'm looking for ****
Thank you,
Catherine
