Phuket Massage - Laguna Area
Posted: Thu September 24, 2009 01:36 PM UTC
Hi,

I will be going to Phuket in Mid November with my wife and staying in the Laguna area. Can anyone recommend good not so expensive massage places in the Laguna - Bang Tao area. I am not looking for the fancy 5 star spas but the salons / parlors that offer 500-700 Bhat/hour massages which can be enjoyed by both of us.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Phuket Food prices in Patong.
Posted: Sun September 13, 2009 04:04 AM UTC
We are fortunate enough to return to Patong in Dec after an enjoyable 3 day stay mid June. This trip we'll be staying a bit longer , 13 days, so the budget has to be stretched. Last time a large noodle or rice dish was about 60 baht and that was on the beachfront side. Even though we considered it very cheap I'm sure some locals might consider that expensive. So would 60b be the average rate? Cheers Sonny

Phuket romantic accomodation Feb 2010
Posted: Wed September 9, 2009 05:34 AM UTC
Hi all,
just wondering if anyone can make some suggestions for accomodation for my 25th wedding anniversary Feb 2010. We have never been to Phuket so are relying on VT'ers help, we would like to stay in accomodation with a balcony and nice view, nice pool and close to beach. The shopping and night life aspect we are not fazed as we can always catch a taxi to them. Budget is upto $200 AUD.

Phuket Travel for quiet trip to Phuket
Posted: Tue August 25, 2009 02:36 PM UTC
We are looking to travel to Phuket in October this year for a week or two. We are looking for a quiet holiday with no children, boutique accomodation but not too far away from shopping just in case that's required. We are also looking for accomodation that's within walking distance of cafes etc.

As a comparison, we recently travel to the Bali Villas in Seminyak, this was fantastic if there is something similar in Phuket.

Does anyone have any recent positive travel experience that could help us?

Thank you in advance.

Posted: Fri August 21, 2009 11:04 PM UTC
Hi
we are a family of four, 2 adults and 1 x14yr old and 1 x 11yr old. Our first time to Thailand would like to stay in a teenage/kid friendly resort with good pools/slides. we will be arriving on the 3rd october 2009 and staying for 7 nights. Would like buffet breakfast and massages. I have heard it is not great for families to stay right in Patong, where would you suggest is a good area to stay but still closer enough to go into patong. What is the best way to get around ??

Phuket Snorkelling and other activities in September
Posted: Tue August 11, 2009 07:01 AM UTC
We are coming to Phuket on 22nd September for 8 days, staying in Karon Beach. We(i, my wife and our 17y.o. daughter) are looking for fun activities , hopefully some snorkelling, during this period. We've done the fantasea, elephant trek stuff previously, Seems likely to be late monsoon weather. We last went same time 2006 and the west coast got quite rough sea conditions. Can anyone make some fun suggestions please. Thanks

Phuket Sailing/Learning to sail round Phuket Thai Islands & Langkawi Dec/Jan
Posted: Fri August 7, 2009 11:02 AM UTC
Hi

Does anyone fancy sailing around Phuket & some of the Thai islands (James Bond Island, Phi Phi) & maybe Langkawi sometime between December 25 & January 15 & either for 1 week or 2 weeks.
You can just enjoy the sailing or undertake the following sailing courses
Competent Crew
Day Skipper

The idea is to enjoy 2 weeks sailing around Thai islands & if you want to do the course you could have 2 qualifications at the end which would enable you to either hire a yacht yourself in the future or join one of the yacht races such as The Arc as a crew member

Currently I am the one of 3 person booked on a 40 foot yacht that has 3 double cabins. The owner of the yacht would prefer to have a full boat so I thought I would see if anyone else is interested. The cost is around 1350 UK pounds per person for 2 weeks which includes food, accomodation, tuition, exam fees etc, certification etc so around 100 pounds per day. The departure & return point will be Ao Chalong in Southern Phuket

The exact dates for the 14 days are currently a little flexible as long as it is between 25 Dec & 15 Jan

The boat will be returning to Phuket after 1 week so you could join for the 1st or 2nd week if you wish at c £700 fully inclusive of food, accomodation & relevant tuition, exam fees & certification

Please let me know if this is of interest to anyone

Cheers

Phuket Documents required for renting a bike
Posted: Tue July 28, 2009 11:09 AM UTC
Hi
What documents are required for renting a bike / scooter?

I have an Indian driving licence. Is it sufficient? Or we strictly need an international licence.

Do we have to keep any deposit to rent a bike? - Money / Passport, etc?

Phuket Eating out
Posted: Mon July 13, 2009 04:55 AM UTC
Ok, I have noticed some great responses to the last "places to eat" but not knowing Phuket, I am not sure if they are close to where I am going to be staying. I am going to be at the Sunset Beach Resort, Phrabaramee Road, Tambon Patong. I am hoping a couple of the already recommended are close as they sound great. I know you are all probably wishing my holiday was last week and I could leave you all alone now...lol.. sorry. Last post, maybe.....

Phuket Washing duties
Posted: Sat July 11, 2009 12:39 AM UTC
I am heading to Phuket for 10 days and a further 5 in Bangkok. I am going to have to get some washing done in that time. I have been bitten on the butt once before with laundry service fees. Can someone advise me the best way to go, have it done at the hotel or somewhere else, or are there coin laundries?

Phuket Finding a Good Tailor in Phuket - any recommendations
Posted: Thu July 2, 2009 01:50 AM UTC
I am flying to Phuket next Friday and would like to take a suit with me and have it copied. There are so many tailors it is hard to pick one and I have read so many reviews of bad ones it is scary.

Has anyone been and had any suits and shirts made recently? I have read good reviews about InStyle and Hillfiger Fashion. What is the average cost for a suit?

Phuket Phuket Accommodation
Posted: Fri June 26, 2009 12:21 AM UTC
Hi All,

Firstly, thanks to those who responsed to a previous post.

My partner and I have decided that we will most probably go to Phuket for 7 days in July/August. Which is the best tourist area to stay in in Phuket? We want to be walking distance to beaches, shopping, restaurants and daily activities. We're not overly in to the nightclub scene, however happy to experience some of the nightlife.

Does anyone also know anything about "Sawasdee Village" accommodation in Kata and does Kata have shopping, restaurants, daily activities etc?

I've always wanted to stay in Bungalow accommodation. Can someone recommend Bungalow accommodation walking distance to main tourist areas and are they secure?

Thanks

Phuket Patong Beach in July
Posted: Wed June 17, 2009 07:00 AM UTC
I will be staying in Patong for a few days in July. After reading other replies on this site I assume the ocean will not be calm and have surf with some dangerous undercurrents. Is it better to get a hotel with a good pool. We will be staying or two nights and then going sailing around Phang Nga Bay.

We were thinking of staying for three nights at Phi Phi at the Island Village Beach Resort. Will the ocean be calm enough to swim in? Can't decided if better to rent a beach villa or hillside one with a pool. Help.
