| Phuket | To stay in Patong or Karon/Kata? Posted: Sat May 10, 2008 04:48 PM UTC
Hi!
Would like to check if it's better to stay near Patong beach or Karon/Kata beach? Also, how can we get from one to the other and how much would that roughly cost? Many thanks! =) |

| Phuket | HELP! Re: Child with severe peanut allergy Posted: Tue May 6, 2008 08:06 AM UTC
A friend of mines husband wants the family to go on holiday in Phuket, and my friend is worried sick about her youngest son who has severe peanut allergy and what food he will be safely able to eat. I have been to Phuket and she asked me my opinion, but I went with adults who basically lived on Thai and seafood and I don't want to say yes go in case something happened to him... Is there anyone out there in the same situation that can give their opinion or their experiences.

| Phuket | Weather in August Posted: Sun May 4, 2008 08:51 PM UTC
I will be taking a trip with some friends around the August time frame and we are curious about the weather in August. I understand that it is your rainy monsoon season, so would we expect constant rain all day, is there a chance of some sunny days? We are looking for some nice beaches and nightlife, so will the weather this time of year prevent us from exploring the island?

| Phuket | beach hut accommodation Posted: Sat May 3, 2008 11:29 PM UTC
Hi all, we are planing a trip to Phuket early 2009. Would really appreciate some help in finding a beach hut somewhere. We are looking to stay in Karon or Kata for about a week (any suggestions for accommodation on beach)any resorts stand out that are beautiful? and then would like to go to maybe Krabi or somewhere around there to just chill out and relax. This is where we would like the beach hut accommodation. Any suggestions, maybe someone knows of a better place to stay than Krabi, we prefer the quieter sytles with the option of going where the noise is and then being able to escape it. Would love some feedback please.

| Phuket | How is the weather in Phuket now ? Posted: Mon April 28, 2008 02:44 AM UTC
Hey guys,
Will be heading down first week of May. Was wondering how is the current weather now. I had a friend come back from Phuket recently , and he said it has been raining. Has the raining season started already? If yes , how often does it rain? ( everyday?) and also , hows the sea conditions? I hope we get good weather when we go. Don't want to be stuck in the hotel all day long. Thanks |

| Phuket | Is ocean choppy in May? Posted: Sat April 26, 2008 02:59 AM UTC
Yes, me again!
We were planning a Phi Phi Islands day trip and also a Sea Kayak trip from Phuket when we go early May. Have been told that the ocean starts getting pretty choppy from end April/early May. Last year we went in July and the ocean looked was pretty untidy then! Hubby can get a little on sea sick side.... Perhaps it might be more pool-time & shopping! Thanks in advance, Sam |

| Phuket | Where to stay on Phuket Posted: Fri April 25, 2008 11:44 AM UTC
Me and my sister have 4 days in Phuket in Jan 09. Ive been looking at all the different resorts and I'm still not sure which one would suit us best. We are looking to chill out at the end of our 3 week holiday. We would like somewhere that is not too overcrowded or noisy (which I hear Patong is?)but still has nice restaurants and a few bars. We also would prefer somewhere which is easily accessible to other places as we would like to do one or two tours (eg,Phi Phi). Any ideas?

| Phuket | The best could be... Posted: Thu April 24, 2008 02:43 PM UTC
We look for a nice beach front hotel(~50usd/night, +-20), strategically fun oriented as location, calm or relaxed area, child friendly, for first May holidays (3-4 nights). We will be in Phuket with our 1,5yo kid and her granny. On top, we are diving addicted. We have been before by chance, in Laguna (north).., but out of reality, we realised that. We would highly appreciated any quick advise about accomodation options as family, as well as diving tips. With thanks!

| Phuket | Hotel cab or catch a cab from the airport? Posted: Wed April 23, 2008 02:38 AM UTC
Hi , we will be down in Phuket in early May and we'll be staying at the Best western in Karon Bay. Any idea whether we should ask for a hotel pick up or should we just get a taxi from the airport?
Will there be a price difference? And also , from what I've read , taxis tend to bring you to many different stops ( jewellery stores , tour agencies..etc) before actually bringing you to the destination you want.If I were to get a hotel pickup , will they still do the same? Cause I don't want to waste time going to places I don't want to go. Any advice will be great! Thanks! |

| Phuket | hotel on Phi Phi Posted: Wed April 23, 2008 12:43 AM UTC
Hi there,
We have 5 days to stay on Koh Phi Phi, May 4-9. This week is all about relaxation before our first baby comes! We are looking for a nice hotel with a pool, room with a balcony and a location that's not too remote. Does anyone have a suggestion for us? We hope to spend less than $100US a night. Will we need to book the entire time in advance, or can we book maybe the first night to make sure the hotel is what we want and then look around? I notice that May 1 is the start of low season pricing, so maybe it's not too busy? Any tips or suggestions welcome. Thanks! |

| Phuket | Does Phuket has flea market like Bangkok Jatujak? Do i need to book online to go PP? Posted: Tue April 22, 2008 04:39 PM UTC
1) I miss Jatujak. A lot! Does Phuket has a similar place like that? Im craving to shop.
2) My fren has been bugging me to book PP tours(the one that comes with snorkeling) online. He said that if we dont book early, there will be no more available. is it true? my only concern is that, it will be way cheaper there and more choices. right? advice on prices on PP tours and the water activities(banana boat, parasailing, etc), warnings on touting. any prices incur to chill at the beach( i heard u have to pay est. 800Baht to sit at the deck. ) 3) What great clubs to shake ur booty? Hip places to go. Clubs that play great RnB music or reggae. 4) will 8000Bt/pax (food&expenditures) be enough for 5 days? sorry for asking to many qn. the last time i went Bkk i overspend and came back penniless. :( i need to set my budget rite. 5) im going 8 - 12 may. anyone coming same day? :) cheers! |
