Plan to Koh Samet in Feb. with 2 kids, 6 and 4yrs old.

1) Which beach is the best choice to stay with the mini marts and restaurants with easy walking access?

2) Any recommendation for the mid range price kids friendly family resort we can choose? My budget is no more than 2500B/night. Thanks in advance!

Me and my partner are planning to visit thailand in the third week of July. We havent been able to decide whether to go to Ko Chang or Ko Samet for two to three nights. My first choice had been Ko Chang due to its unspoiled and clean beaches but we are concern about the rain and since this is off season we are wondering if its gonna be too quite. We also read that the beaches in Ko Chang are not as beautiful as Ko Samet. Please advise

It's been 3 years since I was last on Ko Samet and it seems like it's really gone upmarket since then. I used to stay at Sai Kaew Villa in May for around 500 Baht for a deluxe fan room without breakfast, does anyone know if this is still possible for a walk in rate. Also are the restaurant/bar prices still the same as they were. I used to love my beach bbq and cheap beer chang at 60 baht a large bottle.

How is Tonsak resort? Is it clean, on a good beach, close to other restaurants, bar? How's the toilets, do they flush? Their website is http://www.tonsak.com/

Hi I am so confused, I am trying to establish which is the better islands - Ko Samet or Ko Lanta. Is July/August a good time to go to any one of these islands. Please help!!!

I am trying to book a hotel room in Koh Samet from Dec 29 to Jan 2 but all the hotels contacted are full. A couple of them have availability but their rates are prohibitive, over 10,000 Bath. Any ideas & suggestions on a decent hotel are welcome! Thanks!

My husband and I are planning to spend a few nights in Ko Samet in early January. It seems some of the hotels do not take reservations. Can anyone advise us whether or not we should chance it and show up without reservations? We would like to stay somewhere like Naga Bungalows.

We fly out of Bangkok at 5pm and were wondering about actual travel times from Ko Samet to Bangkok airport.

How long does the ferry or fast boat trip take from Samet to the mainland and then the easiest option to the airport and how long that will take.

If you have any idea of cost would be greatly appreciated too.

I'm a senior in school and I'm planning a trip to Ko Samet after graduation with my class. The trip will be from July 8th to 11th, and I am expecting about 50 people to go. I have several questions and I'd greatly appreciate your help.
1) For 50 people to get to Ko Samet, what is the most efficient way? Or, to be more specific, what is the best way to take 50 people from BKK to the pier?
2) I am looking for rather cheap accomodation, say around 1000 baht per room of 2 or room of 3. Anyone know a cheap place that can hold us 50 ppl as well as have a nice location?
3) Are food and drinks/alcohol more expensive that those in BKK?
These are just some questions from the top of my head. If there are more I'll post them later. Thank you in advance for any replies!

Hi, I'll be arriving in Thailand next week at around 4.30pm. We plan to take a taxi striaght to Baan Phe to get over to Ko Samet. We've only got a 7 day hol so don't want to hang around.
After reading around on the internet it seems that the ferries stop at 17.30 to Ao Vong Duen. So no chance we'll get that!!

Does anyone know the current price for a speed boat to this beach????
I don't want to be ripped off but nether do i want to haggle for ages when I may be offered a fair price.

What is the Malaria risk situation in Koh Samet and in Krabi ?

Staying in Sai Kaew in April and was wondering if someone can confirm there is an ATM local. Heard there was at least one in Sai Kaew but would like to know for sure before I put all my faith in the plastic card.

I am travelling to Thailand In Feb and cant decide whether to go to ko Chang or Ko Samet. I will be arriving from Cambodia (Poipet) and have to travel from there to one of the islands- has any one done this? Is it easy enough to reach? I really wanted to do both isalnds but will only have 5/7 days before I have to leave to Bangkok. Has anyone been to both islands and can tell me which is the nicest and cheapest?
