Ko Tao Diving / resort in Ko Tao
Posted: Wed July 1, 2009 08:09 AM UTC
Hi, I'be to Ko Samui next August, my wife and I are both divers and we think to go to Ko Tao for a week (or more) and having fun diving there, no courses, just fun diving. I noticed resort are not smiling to people going there for not doing courses, is it the same treatment for who wants to dive only?
Any advice? resort/diving in Ko Tao to contact? Which part of island could better? we actually not interested at night life.

thanks

Ko Tao Ko Tao or Ko Phangan?
Posted: Tue April 14, 2009 07:33 AM UTC
We will be travelling to Thailand in August this year with our 3 children (9,7,4) and wanted to go to either Ko Tao or Ko Phangan? We would like to do snorkelling and a bit of diving (not much) and were wondering which island would be better. I heard that Ko Tao's beaches are not that great and that is already ver commercial. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Cheers, Eva

Ko Tao Accommodation Costs - can you haggle prices down
Posted: Tue November 4, 2008 05:41 PM UTC
A few people I have spoken to tell me Thailand in general is pretty quiet at the moment as less people are travelling due to saving money and the economic crisis. We're out there in December.

Do you think we can haggle the prices down on accommodation or are resorts sticking to their guns and trying to still get top dollar (i.e. the web prices)

With the Ģ/bht rate being so poor everything is that little bit more expensive at the moment.

We're looking for a nice resort with a pool.

Ko Tao Weather in Koh Tao end of December??
Posted: Tue October 28, 2008 10:58 AM UTC
Hi there,

my partner and I are going to be in Thailand for the whole of december. We plan to spend Christmas week on Koh Tao. Neither of us have been to the island before and I'm worried about the N.E monsoon. Can anybody please give me an idea of how much wind, rain and storms to expect? Should we choose another island? I want our Christmas to be special this year.
Any info would be much appreciated!
Thanks, Cass

Ko Tao 3 Months in Ko Tao!!
Posted: Thu March 13, 2008 05:21 AM UTC
I am soon to leave the UK and finish my dive instruction with Bans. I need some good accomodation there that is clean, aircon, TV, Fridge and not too far away from Bans to make getting there easy, as it will be three months of training for me. Any ideas on that would be welcome. I have tried Tommy's, but they have no availability for May - July, and I was advised to try them when I am there. I would like to know that I have at least a month booked somewhere reasonable before I get there, and I figured 10,000 - 15,000B per month should be enough??

Any help appreciated....

Ko Tao July in Tao (good place for longer stay)?
Posted: Wed February 14, 2007 08:57 AM UTC
Sawadee!

I have read that Koh samui weather should be pretty good in July.
Is the weather type same on Koh Tao or is there different/more wet climate?

How about staying in Koh Tao for longer time?
is there any tailor shops to get tailor made suit + shirts?
How about restaurants? only those in the hotels?
(nothing bad about hotel's restaurants, but are they very expencive?)

And are the prices very high on Koh Tao since it is pretty small island...?

Ko Tao Should I do a diving course in Koh Tao?
Posted: Thu November 16, 2006 09:24 AM UTC
I'm staying 4 nights in Koh tao and am thinking about doing a open water diving course... but that means it'll take 3days of my stay (1 day in the class room & 1/2 day in the pool).
I'm just worried that I might not have enough time to enjoy the scenery of Koh tao if I do the diving course.

Would I see as much with snorkelling/ discover scuba diving? I would really love to see the sharks & turtles...

Help~~~ can't make my mind up :(

Ko Tao weather and safety in ko tao

I want to spend my holiday in ko tao in the first week of October.
I see the weather report that it is cool 25-32 degree, and there is shower almost every day.
I am afraid I can not go snorkeling because of the big wave, or the water is too cold.
Is it safe to go to Ko tao after the coup?
can you give me some advices?

My husband and I (in our 50's) and our daughter and boyfriend are going to Ko Tao in October for 2 weeks. We want somewhere which is quiet, has beautiful gardens and a white sandy beach. We would like some privacy so wouldn't want the bungalows too close together. We would also be haoppy to have a bungalow for 4. We don't want to be near noisy nightlife.
We are looking at The Seashell Resort, The Ko tao RoyaL Resort and the Sensi Paradise. Which would be beST? Many thanks for your time. CAroline.

Ko Tao Scuba PADI certification recommendation
Posted: Thu July 13, 2006 02:15 PM UTC
hello everybody,

i was wondering if some of you guys could recommend a couple places where i could get my PADI certification when i go to ko tao in december. i'd prefer a place where the instructor was a westerner speaking english and one that is respectable and safe. usually i would not care if my guide was western or thai, but when it comes to something like scuba, i'd rather be safe and make sure that i understand everything that is being said.

on that note, i was also wondering if people could maybe give me a suggestion or two about the best beaches to stay at/get my PADI certification on ko tao.

thanx again,

danK
