San Gimignano Transport to/from San Gimignano
Posted: Sat March 26, 2005 04:44 PM UTC
I'm planning to stay in San Gimignano later in the year, flying to Pisa. Would also like to re-visit Siena, just for the day.
Do not want to drive.
Any ideas on buses/trains Pisa to SG and SG to Siena?

San Gimignano San G or Monteroginni or Montepulcino?
Posted: Thu February 3, 2005 06:54 PM UTC
OK sorry for the spelling for some of the hilltowns.

Here's our plan. We're leaving Siena for Lucca by car. Along the way we thought of stopping the abovementioned towns. I'm wondering amongst the 3 which should we spend more time at? San G sounds like a tourist place which surprises me since it seemed so small and tucked away. How about the other two? they are sorta on the way as well.

thanks!

Hi, Six of us are going to stay for a week in a B&B near San Gimignano, and on one of the days we'd like to go biking in the Tuscan Countryside. Does anyone have any suggestions of the routes we could ride?

San Gimignano Question
Posted: Tue August 24, 2004 02:19 PM UTC
I'm in the final stages of planning our late September trip. We are planning a day trip, leaving from Chianti in Radda to San G with an option to go on to Volterra.

Iten Option #1 is to go to San G in the morning, lunch then on to Volterra (or not & stay the day)
or
Option # 2
Go to Volterra, lunch then to San G in the afternoon leaving around 6:00 pm (Sundown at 7:20 pm)

Any thoughts?????

San Gimignano Day trip from San Gimignano to Rome
Posted: Tue July 20, 2004 04:13 PM UTC
hi

we are renting accomodation in San Gimignano for a week in September and while we are there we would like to make a day trip to Rome. I guess the best option is to take a train from Florence to Rome?
I found an italian site with the train times so that
should n't be a problem. Does anyone know if there are buses or trains into Florence from San Gimignano and how frequent they are ? Or are there tours from San Gimignano directly to Rome ?

Thanks,
Janeom

San Gimignano Transportation from Rome to San Gimignano
Posted: Tue June 22, 2004 01:32 AM UTC
We will be arriving in Rome and need to travel to San Gimignano by some sort of public or private transportation with a fair amount of luggage. We have a car available to us when we arrive in San Gimignano so we don't want to rent a car just to get there from Rome. What are the best alternatives?

I am spending 5 days in San Gimignano Tuscany. I really want to do wine tasting at local wineries, any suggestions? Also, what nearby cities are close enough for a day trip?

Thanks

San Gimignano Siena or San Gimignano?
Posted: Sun April 25, 2004 02:52 PM UTC
I'm a little confused. At first I was going to spend 1 night in San Gimignano & 2 nights in Siena. But many are saying San Gimignano is more beautiful. And others are saying there is more to see in Siena.

Does anyone have any advice on which place I should spend more time? What is your personal preference and Why?

(note - I have also asked this on the Siena Forum)

I'm with a group of 6 (3 couples) and we're hoping to find a great B&B, villa to rent or quaint hotel in/very near to San G. for 4 nights in order to gain easy access to Florenece, Sienna and Piza. Any suggestions? I'm open to anything. Going in late September. Thanks!

San Gimignano To Visit San Gimignano?
Posted: Tue July 8, 2003 06:46 PM UTC
I will be visiting Tuscany in late September by a car. I have scratched visiting San Gimignano off my list because from what I read it is a tourist magnet in Tuscany. I do not mind crowds, but I try to avoid them. Sometimes you have no choice like Venice during the daytime it is full of tourist but they are all gather at around San Marco. Are the crowds during the day as bad as a read in many of Tourist guides? I was thinking maybe visiting San Gimignano late in the afternoon hoping much of the tourist have departed on their tour buses. Maybe even have dinner there.
