Nagoya JR Railpass
Posted: Sun September 16, 2007 11:40 PM UTC
My family and I are arriving at CENTRAIR and will be staying two nights in Nagoya. We also plan on visiting Kyoto where we will spend one night before returning to Nagoya. We will then continue on to Tokyo later that same day where we'll spend 4 nights before flying out of NRT. Does it make economical sense to purchase the JR Railpass to travel to these cities or would we better off to simply purchase our tickets at the station when we need them? I know the cost of the JR Railpass, but I don't know the fares of the tickets to get to the cities we want to visit if we travelled without the pass. These are the only rail trips I envision us taking, although we will use the subway system within the cities (and I understand day passes for that are available). It's my understanding that the subway system is not included in the JR Railpass. Is that true? Any recommendations? Thank you.

Hi,

Has anybody stay in Toyoko Inn Nagoya before? Is it good? Also, I have found 3 locations of TOyoko Inn all around Nagoya station. Which is better? Or is there any other budget hotels that are good and have a good location?

Thank you.

Nagoya Baseball caps
Posted: Mon September 18, 2006 08:04 AM UTC
I am visiting a friend in Nagoya and I'm looking to buy a Japanese league baseball cap. I have run into a couple of department stores and sporting goods stores and they only have north american hats. I even went to the Nagoya Dome to a pro shop there, but they only had one style of hat, and it was too small.

Could someone let me know where I can purchase a hat in Nogoya (Dragons, Tigers, etc)?

Thanks in advance.

Nagoya Ryokans & day trips from Nagoya
Posted: Sun July 30, 2006 11:58 AM UTC
Hello!

I'm going to visit Nagoya with my boyfriend in August-September 2006. Could anyone recommend a budget ryokan in Nagoya? I suppose there are no minshukus in Nagoya but they are mainly located in smaller towns/villages - am I right?

We are going to have around 10 days to spend in Japan so we'd like to keep Nagoya as our starting point/base but would very much like to make daytrips around the area or even leave Nagoya for 2-3 days. Any suggestions of nice destinations (preferably more rural areas with lakes, mountains, nature...) and the best means of transportation to get there?

Thanks for further information already in advance :)

We have a 6 hr. layover in Nagoya, Japan; traveling from Bangkok to the US. Has anyone had experience @ the Nagoya airport (not Narita)? How difficult would it be to visit sights while in Nagoya? How far is the Nagoya castle to/from the airport?

Nagoya Highway buses (Kosoku Bus) in Japan?
Posted: Fri February 10, 2006 07:32 AM UTC
Hi!

I'll be making a 3-week trip to Japan this June. While I'll be taking the JR Rail Pass for one week in order to tour the easters parts of the country, I'm still interested in travelling with the highway buses some trips (mainly because it's cheaper).

I have found information from http://www.japan-guide.com/ about the highway buses, but I'd like to ask some more:

- how difficult it is to reserve the tickets (I don't speak Japan)?
- is there a website where I could find the timetables and prices?
- do the buses leave typically from train stations or are there separate bus stations?

These are the trips I'm interested about:
Nagoya - Kyoto
Kyoto - Tokyo
Tokyo - Nagoya

Thank you all for your replies!

Nagoya Dec 29 : Stop over in Nagoya - restaurant recommendation
Posted: Thu December 22, 2005 08:31 AM UTC
Good day.

Will stop over in Nagoya for 1 night enroute to Singapore after my ski holiday in Hokkaido. After reading the tips on Nagoya food speciality, am torn on where should I have my dinner -- kishimen, miso nikomi udon, miso Katsu etc.

Anyone can recommend a restaurant that offers Nagoya specialty kaiseki set?

Merry Xmas & happy holidays!

P.S. Will be staying at a hotel near Nagoya Station

Nagoya Accommodation/sites/shopping in Nagoya/Toyota City please
Posted: Mon November 28, 2005 11:58 AM UTC
Hi folks,

Was wondering if anyone has tips on a YMCA/youth hostel/economical lodging in Nagoya/Toyota City please?

Also, is there a Hare Krishna temple in the region?

Any must-go tourist attractions, night-spots, shopping malls, etc worth recommending?

Which is the best place for authentic souvenirs shopping, and quality electronic equipment?

Your help/tips would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Nagoya Where to find self catering in Nagoya?
Posted: Sat August 13, 2005 10:57 AM UTC
Hi,
I'm travelling to Nagoya (for 10 days)at the end of this year with my husband and 2 small children. I'd like to find somewhere to stay that has self catering facilities such as an apartment or holiday home as this would suit our needs better than a hotel, but I'm having trouble finding any such places online. Any suggestions?
Many thanks,

They don't appear to have a website anymore. Can somebody tell me whether it is possible to book accommodation online or if the staff speak English (if I need to ring them?). I'm concerned that they may be fully booked due to the Expo.

I will need 2 beds initially from 24 september 5 nts.

Many thanks!
