Beruwala Excursions from Beruwela
Posted: Mon May 19, 2008 11:12 AM UTC
Hi we are looking at booking the Neptune in Beruwela and wondered if you could give us ideas of excursions that could be done in a day - we are not the type to want to lay on the beach for 2/3 days in the row but being 2 females would be cautious of travelling on our own.

Hi i am a little confused about Sri Lanka.... Everywhere say's different things!!!!

How many cigs can i take in + out?

What brands of cigs do they sell there?

What Plug adapter will i need... 3pin or 2pin?

How much currency can i take in?

i am going for 3 weeks from Middle of Oct... what's the weather gonna be like?

We have transfer's included.. but would it be better to take a taxi?

if yes how much will it be to Beruwala?

How much on average is a 3 course meal?

Are there casino's & Nightclubs in Beruwala?

Is the Palm Garden nice?

is it better to get tours/excursions through hotel or privately?

Is topless sunbathing allowed?

Sorry it's so much but i can't find a set answer anywhere????

Beruwala Eden Hotel and Weather in June
Posted: Fri May 4, 2007 01:42 PM UTC
Hi,

I'm planning to stay in Sri Lanka at the begining of June at the Eden Resort. What is this hotel like?

Also I've heard that June is the Monsoon season. Will the days be just clouds and humidity and how bad is the rain? Is it just showers and when does it rain? Afternoon or evening?

The hotel is in Beruwela, is there much to do see here? Can we eat outside of the hotel easily as I would love to try authentic Sri Lankan food. Can anybody also suggest excursion etc worth going on?

Sorry for all the questions but just want to know what to expect as I would love to see the real Sri Lanka and not spend my time just at the hotel.

Many thanks

Beruwala travelling as a single mum
Posted: Wed September 27, 2006 08:48 PM UTC
Hi there

I am really into the idea of visiting Sri Lanka as it looks so amazing but I am wondering if it is safe for me to travel alone with my 7 year old daughter. Although we would be hotel based I like getting out and about when I'm away (what's the point if you dont??) and would be using public transport/taxis etc.
Any thoughts gratefully recieved!!

Beruwala Our Wedding at Eden Resort & Spa
Posted: Tue July 4, 2006 07:51 PM UTC
We have just returned from Sri Lanka & wanted to let you know we had a wonderful time, the wedding was amazing, the accommodation was superb & the people were so friendly, they made us feel so welcome.
We would like to say a big thank you to Ajith & Patte (beach boys) for taking us on a two day tour of the Elephant Orphanage,Tea Plantation,Temple of the Tooth,Kandy Dancers, plus many more places, they also took us to the Turtle Hatchery where I realeased a three day turtle to the sea, despite what people may think about going on trips with beach boys in Sri Lanka we can honestly say they were brilliant & completley honest, we did not pay for the trip until we got back, we would highly recommend these people at the Eden.
If you are interested in doing any of the trips during your stay, you can contact Ajith & Patte on thr following e-mails.
Ajith on manoi@sltnet.lk
Patte on Patte01lk@yahoo.com
If you want anymore info regarding the wedding or trips you can contact us on jackie@andywhittam.plus.com
We will certianly go back to Sri Lanka again.

Beruwala food and excursion prices if take a b&b package in June?
Posted: Sat May 6, 2006 02:56 PM UTC
hey there,

I'm looking at booking a late deal for my girlfriends surprise 21st birthday present (in 4 days time so I have to get a move on), to travel on 7th June - and its on a fairly limited budget, as I'm saving for our wedding abroad next year too.

I am currently in a toss up between going here or to the Dominican Republic.

Main charm of the dominican being the sandy beaches and swimming, there I would be definately picking the AI option as for the most part we'd be staying onsite.

Sri Lanka however, in June time with it being monsoon season, there is obviously much more limited things to do onsite. I'm sure its still a lovely beach, and can't see there being a problem in 'wading' into the sea a little bit, about wasit deep for example (would that be ok? and warm?), so I'm thinking more of the option of B&B or half board.

So can I please ask, in a typical resort, or out and about, what prices should I expect to pay for meals and drinks, both soft drinks and alcoholic...I'm not a massive alcohol drinker, but for soft drinks I drink like a fish. Also are there many options around for food choices when it comes to offsite.

And also, how much do the excursions generally cost? As I'll be wanting to do a few of them, especially the elephant trips, to make sure that I make up for the loss of beach/sea activities.

I hope you can help me, am looking forward to getting this booked (and I've been doing nonstop reading on different countries for about 6 days solid now and done very little work)

many thanks,
Tuck

Beruwala Barberyn Reef Ayurveda Resort
Posted: Sat November 19, 2005 10:47 AM UTC
I am considering a two week stay at this resort in late Dec, they currently have a soft opening special of stay one night, get one night free.
However, the only rooms they have available are the more expensive ones, the beach cottages, or air conditioned rooms. The other type of rooms, I believe are not yet ready for occupancy.
Does anyone know anything about this resort? The web page says it is currently under renovation. I suppose it does make sense that a hotel damaged from the tsunami would renovate their most expensive rooms first. And it's still a very good deal.
Thanks.

Beruwala More Wedding Help - Eden Resort & Spa!!!
Posted: Wed September 28, 2005 08:44 PM UTC
Hi All,

Thanks to those of you who have already provided help with my never ending questions!
Just one more I promise, does anyone know if it is possible to orgainse optional extras such as an elephant ride, Kandyan Dancers & Drummers etc directly at the Eden Hotel to be part of the wedding day package.
I am not sure whether to do this with the company in the UK that I have booked with or wait until I arrive at the Hotel itself. (We arrive on the 26th November and the wedding is not untill the 2nd December so I think this gives us enough time to arrange?)
Thanks very much
Tina

Beruwala Our experience of the Tsunami at the Neptune
Posted: Mon January 31, 2005 07:01 AM UTC
The first wave wasn't too bad - probably 5 or 6 foot. The restaurant had been swamped but this dispersed quickly leaving a complete mess which we offered to help the staff clean up. The sea then receeded right out so we went back to the beach and helped pick up waterlogged Ipods etc. We then returned to the hotel and had a shower. It was then as we stood on the balcony that the huge wave came in. It crashed over the beach bar which became completely submerged, raced across the pool ripping up the concrete tables then smashed everything through the ground floor. The resturant had water up to its roof. Everyone that was standing on the terrace rushed into the lobby as water & debris pounded against the hotel structure sending spray over the terrace. The speed and force of the water was phenominal. The sound of the glass breaking and doors being caved in still haunts my dreams at night. All of the bungalows suffered major damage with most of them gone completely. The baby dear in the compound near the Pearl Bar couldn't escape and sadly died. Happily, Sammy and the rest of the beach boys crossed beyond the red flag and came into the hotel so they're all ok. The Mangement Team arranged for us all to be moved from the Health Suite in the gardens, where we'd spent the day, to a Conference Centre in Columbo. We were greeted with many familiar faces of Neptune staff who'd already set out matresses, pillows, sheets etc. We were immediately supplied with a boxed Pizza from Pizza Hut and water. Over the next couple of days Aitken Spence provided for every immediate need. They even opened a free bar, converted the cinema into a restaurant and provided cigarettes. From the time the Tsunami struck not one meal was missed. Even though it was an awful experience I'm pleased to report that all staff and guests at the Neptune are safe. The aftermath forged many strong friendships, a lasting appreciation to the staff at the Neptune, a strange type of bond with Sri Lanka and its people and a desire to return as soon as possible.

Beruwala April weather

Friends of ours would like to visit Beruwala with us but can only go in April. Weather records seem to indicate that April has a record for more rain than in March. Is this correct? Would early March be a better time to visit rather than April?

Beruwala Where can I get to?
Posted: Sun October 17, 2004 09:22 PM UTC
I have just booked to go to the Confifi Beach in Beruwala and as it is very last minute and I am travelling on Thursday 21st Oct it was just a question of taking pot luck. So I've not had much time to find out much and I was wondering if anyone could let me know what areas of interest are accessible from there? Will it be possible to visit Sinharaja Rainforest Reserve, or Kandy? Also, as I'll be a lone female any travel hints taking that into account would be appreciated. Do the tour companies actually operate any 'excursions' from there, or is it relatively easy to sort out your own arrangments?

Would I be right in expecting it to be wet, but hot? If so any advice on what clothing/shoes I should get on a quick last-minute shopping trip would be appreciated.

Thank you to anyone who can help.

Oh, and what about currency? Best way of taking funds....?
