Hi, I am scheduled to arrive at Milan Malpensa airport on Sunday morning, Sept. 18. I understand a train strike is scheduled from 9:00 p.m. Saturday Sept 17 until 9:00 p.m. Sunday Sept 18. We had planned to take a bus from the airport to the Milano Centrale train station, then the train to Desenzano station. Hadn't decided the best way to into Sirmione from there.

So my questions, what are the options for getting into Sirmione from Desenzano train station. And second, what are the options to get there if in fact there is a train strike?

Thanks!

Hi all ,

We are going the next month to Sirmione , I would be greatful for any information that help me to decide where to stay in Sirmione , Im confused between the following hotels :
1-Eden Hotel , Sirmione Hotel ( in old town )
2-Continetel Hotel , Olivi Hotel ( in the upper side of the old town )

If I go to hotels in option ( no 2) , is it safe to walk at night from the hotel to old town ?
How far are these hotels ( no 2 ) from old town by walk ?

Last question , I have 2 kids4 & 7 , is it safe for them to swim in the lake or its better to stay in a hotel with swimming pool ?

Please help me .

Thank you

I was told that to catch the boat which travels slowly all around the lake, we need to go to Desenzano. Which town is correct? Sirmoine or Desenzano?
Thanks, Bill

Further to my earlier question, I actually meant Bergamo (Milan) Airport and NOT Brescia Airport.

To reiterate, I need to best travel options to get from Bergamo Airport to Sirmione.

Thanks and sorry for the mistake.

I need to get from Brescia Airport to Sirmione in June or July.

Is it possible to take a bus from the airport into Brescia centre and then catch a bus or train direct to Sirmione?

Or would I need to get the Ryanair bus into Milan centre? If so, what would I then need to get, are any buses or trains available into Sirmione from Milan?

Many thanks for any assistance.

My friend will be travelling from Milan to Sirmione. However we are getting confused cause the train station in Sirmione is named Desenzano Del Garda. Is this where the train stops? So how should he reach Sirmione from Desenzano?

Willl be taking train from Venice to Peschiera del Garda. Any ideas of how to get from there to Sirmione? Will have 2 kids ages 9 and 11 with me. I hear there is a catamaran, but how often does it go? Any buses? Taxis?

Will be in Sirmione in late May for 2 nights. Looking for recommendations for lunch and dinner places - water view preferred. Need not stay in Sirmione - willing to take a 30 minute ride or so to go to an interesting and fun place for a meal. Will have a car. Thank you.

I know Sirmione is a quiet spot at night but can you please tell me if there are any bars/pubs on the penninsula? If not do the restaurants serve drink late into the night or does everything shut at midnight? We are travelling with a group of about 60-70 and are hoping to have some late drinks; is the hotels are best option?
Thanks in advance!

Hi all,
We are hoping to get married in Sirmione in 2008. We are thinking of having the ceremony in SAnta Maria Della Neve church followed by the reception in Villa Cortine. It mentions the villa is uphill. On the map they are more or less next to each other. Do you know how far they are apart as we may have some elderly guests with difficulty in walking far.

Thanks in advance.

We will be travelling by train from Verona to Desenzano/Sirmione. How easy is it to get around by bus and train in and around the lake? Are the busses very regular?

Has anyone seen or stayed at the Hotel Broglia in Sirmione? We have booked the hotel over the net but I would love it if anyone would volunteer a first hand eyewitness account of their experience or observations.
Also, any good, inexpensive restaurants to recommend?
