Sorrento Getting to Sorrento
Posted: Tue April 22, 2008 07:50 AM UTC
Hi everyone, we have a few questions and any help/advice would be appreciated.
We are wanting to travel to Sorrento from Athens - can we fly direct to Naples or do you have to go via Rome? Also, what would be the best way of then getting to Sorrento using public transport (we don't want to hire a car)? How easy is it to get to Pompei - Positano - Capri and other nice places in the area? Last but not least, if we then wanted to get to Venice is it feasible to fly there from Naples or would trains be the answer? As we have been to Rome twice already would prefer not to have to go via there.
Many thanks.

Sorrento Sorrento for the Day???
Posted: Fri April 18, 2008 01:13 PM UTC
Our ship docks in Naples on a Wednesday, early November. We've already been to the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. Is it easy to take the hydrofoil from Naples to Sorrento? Would there be much to see and do, walking, from where the hydrofoil leaves us off? I understand it is really "off season" so any suggestions would really be helpful...................Thanks, Karen

realmente sarebbero...................Thanks utili, Karen

Sorrento Sorento or Positano Parking a Car?
Posted: Wed April 9, 2008 01:43 AM UTC
Hi Everyone, I have really enjoyed the forum on Sorrento.
My Question is:
We are arriving in Naples from Crete, at 11.30am mid september, we will be picking up a hire car, I had decided to stay in Positano, I am rethinking this as I am concerned about the steep streets in Positano and where to park the car.
Am I better staying in Sorrento and doing my day trips by car to Positano, Pompeii, Capri etc. Or is the parking not so bad in Positano. Are we wasting valualbe time staying in Positano as sights seem to be closer to Sorrento?
We have 5 days to see the sights on Amalfi coast and drive to Rome for 3 days.

Kindest Regards
Linda

Sorrento Pompeii or Amalfi coast first
Posted: Sun March 30, 2008 09:58 PM UTC
We will be arriving in Sorrento by cruise ship in June, we have a private car for the day. We want to visit Pompeii and drive the Amalfi coast stopping along the way. We arrive at 7 am. Would you suggest going to Pompeii first or should we tour the Amalfi coast first and head to Pompeii in the afternoon?

Sorrento Buses in April
Posted: Wed February 13, 2008 03:13 AM UTC
Are the buses from Sorrento to Amalfi, Positano and Ravella likely to be packed the third week of April? Can we purchase one ticket for the entire trip and be able to get off the bus to explore the different towns? If so, what ticket should we ask for? Could the Campania Artecard be used for this transportation?

There is a capua cashmere store on PIAZZA LAURO ANGELINA. It is on the left when facing the sea and is closer to the sea than the furniture store on the corner. Does anyone know the name or telephone number of the store? There is a scarf there I must purchase.

Thank You,

Sorrento Search for a classy latenight bar
Posted: Sat January 12, 2008 05:29 PM UTC
Hi there. I'm getting married in Sorrento in July and I'm looking for a nice bar/pub to go to after the hotel reception. Unfortunately, our hotel stops serving drinks quite early. So we're looking for somewhere near Piazzo Tasso, that stays open until 2am or so. We hope to walk there.. there'll be a lot of us!
We're on a budget, so we can't afford to book anywhere extra. Thanks.

Sorrento Vietnamese residents or restaurants in Sorrento?
Posted: Fri November 9, 2007 12:00 AM UTC
I know this may be a stupid question but I can take the beating from it. My girlfriend was born in Vietnam and was wondering if there was a restaurant in the area. From my visits I don't recall seeing any, but I satisfied her by asking.

Sorrento Naples Airport to Sorrento
Posted: Thu November 8, 2007 11:38 PM UTC
I realize that this question has been asked many times but I will ask it again with your patience. On January 4th,2008 we will be arriving in Naples at approximately 4:55pm. We would like to take a bus from the airport to Sorrento. When is the last bus leaving for Sorrento, and if we miss it, how else can we get from the airport to our destination without having to stay over night or taking the train. We are going from Rochester, New York to Philadelphia to Paris to Naples. The easier the better. Thank you.

Sorrento Italian Friends
Posted: Thu November 8, 2007 11:18 PM UTC
My girlfriend and I will be spending from January 4th to March 4th in Sorrento and would like to meet people from the area. We are 60 plus. I have been a frequent visitor to Italy and have been to Sorrento 5 times, just not for an extended period of time. My grandparents are from the Naples area and Calabria. I have not been able to locate relatives yet. I have met people from Sorrento and have a good friend that lives on Capri. We would just like to blend into the culture. If there is anyone that would like to meet for espresso and conversation please respond. Stefano.

A friend of mine whose been to Sorrento and Capri is saying that I should wait until it gets warmer to go down south because of the cold weather and many places not being open? . But because of the low cost during december, I will be going the last 2 weeks of december. Anyone think that I should wait? Will stores and attractions be open at both Sorrento and Capri. Sorrento Easter Processions in Sorrento
Posted: Thu October 18, 2007 04:20 AM UTC
My family and I will be in Sorrento for three days before Easter next year. There is supposed to be a procession on Thursday night and also on Good Friday night. The website about the procession says that the Thursday procession is in "the middle of the night between Thursday night and Friday". Does that mean it is at midnight? We were thinking of staying at a hotel in Via Capo area. Will there be bus service after the processions? The regular bus service looks like it usually ends at 10 pm. Is it walkable to Via Capo from where the processions will take place? What are the odds of finding parking if we drove our car into Sorrento for the processions?
Sorry to load up so many questions, but the heart of this is that we want to see the processions, but we would also like to stay in Via Capo to get the lovely terrace rooms. Problem is ... transportation to and from town.

Sorrento Boutique hotel/venue
Posted: Thu October 11, 2007 10:58 AM UTC
I have been searching for a very unique venue in Sorrento for a wedding reception. I have found some wonderful places that fit the criteria of boutique, unique and that have the wow factor but I was hoping that there is perhaps a hidden, magical jewel that is not too large (able to accommodate 50 guests)or too sophisticated but has the views and great service, food etc. I am ideally looking along the Marina Grande and access is fairly easy as there is an elderly guest. However if someone knows of something that isn't within this area please still let me know. Those that I have so far found are Relais Blu, Bellvue Syrene, La Minervetta. Hope to hear for you.
