Hi,

How can we get from Catania Airport to Letojanni? I know that there are three options: 1. taxi; 2. train; 3. bus. Which one is the most effective way (i.e. value for money)?

I have researched the bus website and see that there is a bus that goes from Cantaia Airport to Taormina and then another one that goes from Taormina to Letojanni (on http://www.interbus.it/). How can I reserve/get tickets??

I don't have much information on the train or taxi options. Does anyone know about these?

I have a day at leisure while staying in Taormina on May 2, 2008. I would like to go from there to Reggio de Calabria to see the Riace Warriors in the Museo Nazionale della Magna Grecia. Can anyone give me an idea how I can arrange this? I'll need transportation from and back to Taormina, and preferably an English-speaking guide at the Museum.
I need an answer before April 21, 2008. Thank you.

Can someone recommend me a hotel/accomodation in Taormin for this December? i will be there with my gf for 1 night on the 13th December. The few ones i tried were already fully booked. if i could find something reasonably priced (up to EUR80/room) would be great. with private bathroom and in a good location.

I recently visited Taormina and spotted a cermic ornament in an antique shop - a small green tree in a white pot - I did not purchase it and I am now sorry - can anyone tell me if this can be purchased on the net

I am going to Taormina end December for a month. What are the temperatures like - I am from a coastal sub-tropical area and am quite nervous about cold weather. What clothing would I wear? I will be on a farm but will go to town regularly.
Help - I am not a seasoned traveller.

me my wife and my little girl are traveling to taormina in th middle of may 2008, i would appreciate any feed back of what type of weather to expect and whether or not most things will be open, any information would be gratefully recieved.

We are planning three days (only!) in Taormina in early November. How is the weather the first week in November - warm enough to eat out at lunch time? We are new to Taormina - please provide the top things to do/see on a three day trip in or near Taormina. And where shall we eat outside with a view? Many thanks.

We are arriving in Messina by cruise ship on Oct. 29th from 8 AM to 6 PM. Our questions:
1. Is it possible to walk from the port to the nearest train or bus station?
2. Is it recommended that we try for both Taormina & Mt. Etna?
3. Is the cruise ships tour the best alternative to do both?
We would like to avoid the prohibitive pricing of the cruise ship tours it at all possible. Thanks to all for any information. [One of us speaks Italian]

My cruise comes into messina at 12:00 and departs at 6:00pm I am trying to see if There is a bus system between the 2 places or a taxi etc also the distance between. If possible i would like to stop for a few moments at a village called savoca somewhere between but It isnt a must. thnx in advance for your time..David:)

Is it possible to get a bus timetable: we have been a couple of times to Taormina and now feel more adventurous and would like to get around by public transport.

Me and my husband, we are planning to visit Taormina in september (17-23 september).
I assume that the weather is still nice in september in Sicilly? Or not, :).
But how is the temperature of the sea, because I can not go to the seaside without taking baths.
I am not so sure, because I heard that sometimes the water of an island is not so warm.

I think I read somewhere that the Roman Amphitheatre at Taormina hosts a number of operas, concerts etc.

If so, does anyone know of a website where I can find listings of these concerts and booking details?

last year my nephew traveled to Sicily, he bought a black zipped hoodie sweater that says "Sicily" across the front when it is zipped, it is black with white lettering. I have tried to find out where he bought it. He says it was in Taormina but he can't find the receipt. I love it and would like to purchase one. I am a female and would probably take a size large, if they run small, medium if the run true to size. could you help me locate the sweater? Thank you for giving this your prompt attention.

We're trying to decide if Villa Sara is the right choice for two of us and our 4 year old daughter. I wonder if rent-a-car is the answer to our commuting or there is a better way to commute to the beaches? What is your experience?

I would want to go to the Etna, on Sunday March 25, as far as it is allowed.
Which are the best (low budget) options to go there from Taormina ?
(= If possible no expensive organised tour packages?)
Maybe go there (to Rifugio Sapienza ?) on my own by bus/train , and join a group with guides there walking to the top , as it is considered dangerous to go alone. Or maybe take the cablecar, but is it already repaired ?
Is it possible to go there from Taormina, or do I first have to go to Catania? (I will sleep in Taormina the night before, March 24)

Hello,
I will be in sicily from may 5-may18 2007. traveling with husband, 1 year old baby, and my (2) parents. We are renting a large apartment in letojanni and we will have (2) cars. We plan on exploring the east and North of Sicily.
- there is very little written about letojanni – has anyone stayed there? We chose letojanni because it is supposed to be less touristy than giardini naxos.
- how warm is the ocean water in may? Warm enough to swim?
- we will probably have a few days for just me and my husband - any suggestions for fun things to do just the 2 of us?
- planning to bring a light weight stroller for the baby, should we also bring a back carrier?
- do you think that my 1 year old baby should drink the local water? Or should we stick to bottled water for the baby?
- my husband and I love old ruins, countryside and beaches. My mother loves to shop. My dad just wants to relax.
- does anyone know of any interesting local craftmen/artists that we can visit and from whom we could purchase items?
- any other tips?

A visit to Sicily is in the plans for April, 2007. After Palermo, I plan to visit Taormina and will probably be there around April 25th. Would any of you be so kind to tell me what is open or closed, is transportation operating and are the trains running both in Sicily or to the mainland of Italy.

I need some help.... I, Plus 3 other adults, am traveling Sunday 24 Sept from Naples to Taoramina, then 1 Dec to Sorrento, then 4 Dec up to Rome, then back to Naples to catch my flight home. How in the world do I do this? Should I get the one country three or four day Saver Pass? Is there a phone number at Trenatalia? The one on the website doesn't work... Looking for advice...
