Would appreciate your advice in helping me decide whether I shall spend my next 5 day holiday in Giardini Naxos or Taormina.I shall be travelling with my husband and 2 year old son, and would like to go somewhere not extremely expensive, with good food and with a good number of shops and restaurant since we wouldn't like to stay inside the hotel in the evening. We're going in March 2010

My husband and I are thinking of renting in Toarmina in Feb. and March of 2011. How cold does it get and does it eliminate some outdoor activities? I appreciate any help I can get.

I planned to spend relaxing holidays with my wife in Taormina during the first two weeks of September.
I'm going to make a reservation at the Hotel Villa Schuler as I found this place very comfortable and from their own website (www.hotelvillaschuler.com) seems to be runned with passion.

Does anyone know this hotel? Do you have any other suggestion?
I just want to be sure to make the right choice...

How is the street that connects Taormina-center with the sea-area (Mazzarò) and Giardini Naxos?I'd want to rent a 125cc scooter to explore easily the area,durin the night too...is it very dangerous?Are there a lot of scooters on the streets?

Rome FCO to Catania should I fly Meridiana or Air One

I need to fly from FCO to Catania and have been looking at prices and schedules. I am flying into FCO on August 1 at 8:05 and saw that there was a around 12:50 to CTA on Meridiana, but after a day and a half I have not been succesful buying a ticket on their website. I noticed that the real carrier is Wind jet maybe I have to go to their website. As I looked about comments about the service on Wind jet I am now thinking I should try Air one. I will be returning on Aug 6 and thought that I would get a round trip to FCO CTA then from FCO I go to La Spezia. Should I go to Roma Termini and get a train from there to La Spezia? Thank you for any comments on the airlines, I do want to buy this ticket today.

I would like to explore places such as Siracusa, Agrigento, the Etna region, Eolian islands and Monreale during my stay.

Is there any information I can get about one-day trips from Taormina before leaving? Are prices and schedule available on line?

I have read all the links and looked at alot of websites but i am still not sure what to do. The more I read, the more confusing it gets...(I guess i am just tired from planning a 2 week trip) We will be staying in Taormina for 2 nights. We really want to go to Mt Etna.. and get as high as we can without the big walk..or maybe if we feel like it..we will try the ascent on foot.
I know some tour companies only go so far up... We will be there the first week in May.

1. Which side is the best side to see the cone of the crater, or at least get a good picture of it..The north or south. They are so different from each other

2.take a tour from Catania or Taormina?

3. We will have a rent car..so should we drive up part of the ways..to the summit or base, then hire a guide?

the South looks intersting with the cable cars and the 4x4 jeeps..but is the North side a better view?

4. What would you do?

we are hoping ot have a week there when all our freinds can enjoy the sights and the beach, is the weather warm enough in may to swim and sunbathe
Please advise as having the beach to enjoy is a big aspect to us in choosing our wedding area.

How can we get from Catania Airport to Letojanni? I know that there are three options: 1. taxi; 2. train; 3. bus. Which one is the most effective way (i.e. value for money)?

I have researched the bus website and see that there is a bus that goes from Cantaia Airport to Taormina and then another one that goes from Taormina to Letojanni (on http://www.interbus.it/). How can I reserve/get tickets??

I don't have much information on the train or taxi options. Does anyone know about these?

I have a day at leisure while staying in Taormina on May 2, 2008. I would like to go from there to Reggio de Calabria to see the Riace Warriors in the Museo Nazionale della Magna Grecia. Can anyone give me an idea how I can arrange this? I'll need transportation from and back to Taormina, and preferably an English-speaking guide at the Museum.

Can someone recommend me a hotel/accomodation in Taormin for this December? i will be there with my gf for 1 night on the 13th December. The few ones i tried were already fully booked. if i could find something reasonably priced (up to EUR80/room) would be great. with private bathroom and in a good location.

I recently visited Taormina and spotted a cermic ornament in an antique shop - a small green tree in a white pot - I did not purchase it and I am now sorry - can anyone tell me if this can be purchased on the net

I am going to Taormina end December for a month. What are the temperatures like - I am from a coastal sub-tropical area and am quite nervous about cold weather. What clothing would I wear? I will be on a farm but will go to town regularly.

me my wife and my little girl are traveling to taormina in th middle of may 2008, i would appreciate any feed back of what type of weather to expect and whether or not most things will be open, any information would be gratefully recieved.

We are planning three days (only!) in Taormina in early November. How is the weather the first week in November - warm enough to eat out at lunch time? We are arriving in Messina by cruise ship on Oct. 29th from 8 AM to 6 PM. Our questions:
1. Is it possible to walk from the port to the nearest train or bus station?
2. Is it recommended that we try for both Taormina & Mt. Etna?
3. Is the cruise ships tour the best alternative to do both?
We would like to avoid the prohibitive pricing of the cruise ship tours it at all possible. Thanks to all for any information. [One of us speaks Italian]

My cruise comes into messina at 12:00 and departs at 6:00pm I am trying to see if There is a bus system between the 2 places or a taxi etc also the distance between. If possible i would like to stop for a few moments at a village called savoca somewhere between but It isnt a must. thnx in advance for your time..David:)

Is it possible to get a bus timetable: we have been a couple of times to Taormina and now feel more adventurous and would like to get around by public transport.

Me and my husband, we are planning to visit Taormina in september (17-23 september).
I assume that the weather is still nice in september in Sicilly? Or not, :).
But how is the temperature of the sea, because I can not go to the seaside without taking baths.
I am not so sure, because I heard that sometimes the water of an island is not so warm.

I think I read somewhere that the Roman Amphitheatre at Taormina hosts a number of operas, concerts etc.

If so, does anyone know of a website where I can find listings of these concerts and booking details?
