| Torino | White Christmas in Torino Posted: Thu October 19, 2006 05:00 AM UTC
My friend and I will be in Torino around x-mas. We are hoping to see the x-mas lights in the city, and maybe even ski for a day.
Where is a good place to stay? Most youth hostels have kitchens, and since it is x-mas(and maybe everything is closed? Is it?), we were planning to cook. A budget(I'm a student!) place with a communal kitchen would be good. Thank you. |

| Torino | Borgo Dora Photo / Sign Posted: Sun July 16, 2006 02:31 AM UTC
In the Borgo Dora area of Torino, on Corso Giulio Cesar (I believe) there is a sign that says
I (HEART) BORGO DORA If you're coming from the city center on #4 or #11 (GTT), the sign is on your left. It's very near the area where they hold the Balon market. It's made from red and white lights that are illuminated at night. Does anyone have a picture of this sign? Or have you seen one online? I DESPERATELY need a picture of this sign in order to make a birthday gift for my friend in Torino. I've looked on the city website and lots of other websites connected to local government, and I've done countless image searches, but I can't find it! |

| Torino | Wedding Posted: Fri June 2, 2006 03:07 PM UTC
I am considering a wedding in the Torino are as my boyfriend lives there. Any tips on locations for a small intimate (budget) wedding and reception for about 20 people? It doesn't have to be within the city but a villa outside in the mountains would be nice as well. Thank you.

| Torino | Booking Concerts in Turin Posted: Sat April 8, 2006 10:13 AM UTC
I think I have found out that the RAI Symphony Orchestra is playing in Turin on Good Friday but I can't get any details on how to book tickets from either the venue website, the Orchestra website or any of the general ticket booking agents. Can anyone suggest anything?
There seems to be a terrible hangover in Turin since the Olympics- none of the websites seem to have been updated since!! |

| Torino | possible tickets Posted: Wed February 15, 2006 03:19 PM UTC
For anyone looking for olympics event tickets, I suggest visiting the cosport office off of via garibaldi (go to cosport.com for the actual address). I had ordered tickets from them and had to go there to pick them up, and the office was basically empty (although this was on feb 11). It's a little bit out of the way and not advertised in the torino guide as a place to get tickets, so I imagine it might not be crowded even now. I know they were still selling tickets on the 11th. Anyways, it might be worth checking out.

| Torino | Need a place near Torino Posted: Mon February 13, 2006 04:18 PM UTC
I'm hoping someone can help me. I just moved to Germany, and since there is a long weekend coming up, and we are only 7 hours from Torino, I've talked my husband and my cousin and his spouse into going down to the Olympics with me. We are just looking for a place to stay. 4 adults and 2 children ages 2 and 6 months. I was a volunteer at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics and hosted people in my home. I was hoping someone may have a place for us this weekend. WE are looking for a place the 17th - 20th. If you have anything or know of anything in or around Torino, please e-mail me at taznjo@hotmail.com. Because we are just moving in we don't get to use the internet often, so sending it to my e-mail would be best. Thank you so much

| Torino | Camera Usage at Hockey Events Posted: Sun February 12, 2006 11:00 PM UTC
Does anyone know whether they have been disallowing at hockey games the use of cameras with zoom lenses (not the gigantic professional lenses used by news photographers, just the standard 70-200 or 300mm lenses you might see on a Nikon 35mm camera or on the new digital 5-6 megapixel cameras--even some of the "point-and-shoot" digital cameras now have lens mounts and lenses that look like the classic 35mm zoom lenses)?
Also, what about video cameras (like the ones that use standard mini-DV tapes)? If they are disallowing them, do they check them or are there lockers or are you basically on your own to get rid of them or store them until after the game? Thanks! |

| Torino | Milan-Torino Trains--Jetgirly or Anyone? Posted: Sat February 11, 2006 03:13 AM UTC
Do you think it will be easy to commute by train from Milan to Torino during the final week of the Olympics without needing a reservation? Also, is travel time of one hour reliable? And are there super late night trains--one of the hockey games I'm seeing won't be over 'till midnight probably (a Friday night) but I"m staying at a hotel in Milan.
Thanks for answering! |

| Torino | catching the last train Posted: Wed February 8, 2006 06:24 AM UTC
Hello,
I'm going to the Olympics on Feb. 11 and 12, but am staying in Milan. The event on the 11th is in the evening -- it's a hockey game and the time is listed as 8:30-10:30. The last train to Milan leaves PN at 10:50 and PS at 11. First of all, does anyone know what the time estimates mean? Will the event definitely be over by 10:30 and possibly earlier, or could it go on longer? Is it easy/difficult/impossible to leave an event early? Which train station should I go to? Is one easier to reach? PS is small and easier to navigate, right? Finally, are there other (cheap) options to get to Milan that late? Perhaps a bus? Many thanks! |

| Torino | Flash photography at the olympic venues Posted: Tue February 7, 2006 12:10 AM UTC
I read today that flash photography is prohibited at certain venues, but I was unable to determine exactly which ones. I'm not a professional photographer, but I do have a good 35mm camera with a dedicated flash unit. I have tickets to short-track skating, and am trying to determine if my flash will be permitted into the venue.
Many thanks! -Marc |

| Torino | Seeking lodging (or to share lodging) around Torino, 16-23 Feb Posted: Tue February 7, 2006 12:08 AM UTC
Hey everyone, I'm traveling solo to the Olympics next week and I'm looking for a place to stay that's closer than my present reservation in Aosta. I'd prefer my own place (hotel, flat, room, etc) in Torino, but would definitely consider sharing lodging and the associated expenses. Any help would be appreciated (I'm counting on last-minute cancelations!)

| Torino | Anyone going to the olympics alone??? Posted: Sat February 4, 2006 12:44 AM UTC
Hello everyone. I'm now getting psyched for my upcoming trip to the Olympics! My travel companion has recently canceled out, so I'm flying solo this trip. Anyone in a similar situation? I'm not particuarily looking for anything romantic, but some company would be nice. I'm 37, 6', 185 lbs, dark hair/eyes, Italian ancestry, not-too-hard-on-the-eyes, educated, witty, fun, love the snow and winter, and love to travel (obviously). I'd definitely prefer meeting up with a female companion, but guys (or couples) are welcome to write (by the way...I'm 100% straight!) I'm staying fairly far from the venues...in Aosta.
Hope to hear from someone! -Marc |

| Torino | Trip Help needed Posted: Sun January 29, 2006 01:53 PM UTC
I am arriving in Torino Feb 4th 2006, and touring around the city. I am then going skiing in Aosta at Pila for three days, then I go to some Olympic venues on Friday through Tuesday. I would appreciate some assistance with some questions.
I am Englsh speaking only, will it present a large problem? What does half board at a Hotel mean? What are the must see or must do things in Torino? Are there any english speaking ski groups in Aosta? I will be skiing alone and it would be nice to meet up with some other skiers. Sorry for my inexperience questions, my brother is working at the Olympics and the trip is spur of the moment and I wasn't able to do the research. Thank you in advance Some questions on traveling in Italy, |

I am not working with (but feeding!)the media so I won't have access from the venue. I have aol but not sure whether i can find a local number there to use (like i do here in the states)
My sister said I should download MSN messenger to be able to talk to friends and family free online but not sure if it will work there. Any help appreciated!!! :) |
