Does anyone know of a good flea market on a Sunday in Osaka? Also, is the place Namba the same as Nanba?

15 of us will be attending a company convention and staying at Westin Hotel sometime in early September with the hotel accommodation paid-for by our company. After the convention, we intend to extend several days in Osaka but consider staying in a budget hotel, preferably within the same vicinity. Any recommendations?

Arriving Osaka by ship with wife morning of October 3 for one night and leaving from Kansai airport next day in afternoon. Want to visit Kyoto if possible. Any ideas about following alternatives??

a - stay at hotel or near train station in Osaka and travel by train to kyoto in afternoon returning in evening, spend next morning in Osaka and go by train to Kansai in early afternoon since it takes less than 30 minutes;

b - stay at hotel near train station in Kyoto and travel next day at noon to Kansai by train since it takes about 8o minuts;

c - stay at hotel in Kansai airport, go to Kyoto by train same afternoon and go to Osaka next morning returning in afteroon for departure

Would appreciate hotel names you recommend for each alternative regardless after stating your recommendation

hey everyone here

I'm going to be staying in Osaka for a single night on june 9th and the place I was going to stay cancelled my reservation for whatever reason (it was a ryokan and they somehow overbooked and i got the short end of the deal)

I searched on hostels.com and japanican.com and both gave me nothing good. Most places ask for minimum of 2 nights and others have no single room.

Anyone any idea what I can do here?

I am thinking of staying three days in Kyoto, go to the Arima spa for a day from Osaka. If you had to choose btwn the castle and the arima spa....which would it be?

I will be in Osaka and understand that I should give a gift to host/hostess what type of gift is appropriate? I am so clueless. This is a trip that is sort of business. Can someone advise? And do I give a gift everyday to them? HELP!! Confused in the USA!!

I will be putting up in Kyoto for 3 nights. Thought of going to Osaka for a day and also to visit the premium outlet.

Can some one help me with the following queries:

1) I read from the outlet website that it is 44 mins from the Tennoji Station on the JR Hanwa line. Just wondering how far is Tennoji from the main JR station in Osaka?

2) Do I have to change trains? If so, where?

3) I suppose I can use my JR rail pass?

4) Is there a more direct train way for me from Kyoto?

any gd Onsen to recommede

Can anyone offer me advice on purchasing shinkansen kippu. We will arrive in osaka on 12th may and would like to catch the shinkansen down to fukuoka on tues 13th (we have use of a car when we get down to kyushu so we dont need a JR pass). I have found on the internet that there are discount shops all around Osaka selling toku toku tickets. Are these shops easy to find? Will i be safe in being able to purchase a ticket for the same day I want to travel (I will need 2 adult & 1 child ticket)? Or am i safer in paying full price and ordering over the internet before we leave? Do the shinkansens fill up quite quickly? We would like to catch either a 2or 3pm train down to hakata.

How do toku toku tickets vary from 2mai - kippu? Can I purchase 2mai kippu for my husband and i use to on the same leg of the journey together or are they only for return journeys?

We are staying at a hotel　right near Osaka Station, and have three kids in tow. I would　like to find a coin laundry somewhere nearby, and a supermarket to grab some nappies, breakfast cereal etc.

Can anyone tell me where I can find these things?

Hi , how do i get from kyoto to kansai airport . I have 2 days and i have read that its better to stay in kyoto than osaka . If we are meeting frd in osaka , are there train to get us back to kyoto at night ?

My family of 5 (2parents and 3 kids ages 8,3, and 11months) are travelling to Japan this May. Can anyone suggest the cheapest and most convient way to travel from Osaka to Fukuoka (we will have at least 2 suitcases and a pram). We will be spending 1 night in osaka before we travel down to Fukuoka. Does anyone one know anything about Hotel Seagull near Kansai Airport? Also any suggestions of what to show the kids the next day in Osaka before we travel to fukuoka?.

Hi... I'm planning a 6D5N trip to Osaka sometime in May08. A few must do's are visit a famous temple, Osaka Aquarium, a popular park, stay in a hot spring resort, shopping, Geisha performance and lots of raw fish eating...
Can anyone recommend which temple, which park, which hot spring resort, which Geisha performance & which good reasonable pricing restaurants should I go to in Osaka?
Is it recommended that I allocate a day or two to go to Kyoto/Kobe/Nara/Himeji? If yes, what should I do there and where best to stay 1 night?

would like to find out what is the average weather and temp of Osaka in wns April? Also, how thick cold weather wear would i need? is it better to layer in case of frequent weather/temp changes? is a leather jacket, with a thin sweater inside enough, or a denim jacket with a thin sweater is more appropriate? or do i need woollen sweaters?

Are we better off just staying at the Nikko Airport hotel? Is it in the airport terminal building itself? There's another Hankyu airport which is also said to be in the terminal building, anyone tried it before?

I'm interested in going to a shrine sale in Osaka. We'll be in the area from Sunday, April 20 through Tuesday, April 22. Are there any shrine sales that operate on these days?

What is the best and least expensive way to get from Osaka, near the JR Station, to the cruise terminal in Kobe? My information so far is it will cost us about $170 to go by taxi/limo. Are there other alternatives? We are two people and will be travelling with at least 4 pieces of luggage.

We have a very long layover in Osaka 7:30a.m to 10:00p.m on a Saturday in Feruary. Any recommendations on how to spend the day would be appreciated. Also, what kind of visa do we need to leave the airport then re-enter for the day? Can we obtain the visa we need at arrival to the airport?

I'm planning to be in Osaka in the first 2 weeks of Dec. Can anyone recommend a nice onsen (with great scenary & food) within arima onsen? i much prefer the private outdoor onsen so that i can have the place to myself for an hour or so. There are so many that i found on the web but most of the websites are in japanese, hence making it difficult for me to make a choice.

also, will i still be able to catch autumn leaves the first week of Dec?

I am doing a Tokyo/ Kyoto/ Osaka route from 2 - 12 Jan and would like to do a day trip at Osaka. The maximum is probably 1 night stay in Osaka, if there are loads to cover.

Given my tight schedule, what can I cover in 1 day at Osaka? I am not too keen on the Osaka Castle as I would be going to Himeiji Castle. I will cover Shisabashi and aquarium (is this a must-see?). What else should I cover?

Alternatively, if 1 day is way too little, then we would stay for a night in Osaka. Are there cheap ryokans in Osaka that are near to the JR station?

Pls share all your tips, recommendations etc.
