Trieste Taxis between Trieste & Slovenia, such as Portoroz?
Posted: Tue April 24, 2007 03:29 PM UTC
I assume cabs can cross the border (somebody please verify), but are there any particular hassles using a cab? Additionally, if anyone has approximate ideas of cab fares, such as Trieste to Portoroz and back, that would be helpful too. Thank You, Ginny

Trieste DAY RETURN BOAT TRIPS FROM TRIEST TO CROATIAN COAST
Posted: Wed April 11, 2007 03:28 PM UTC
hi, there! I have read certain accounts on the internet of people enjoying day return trips along the Istrian coast (from Triest to Croatian coast) by boat. However, they dont say who they use and the cost of it (say for 2/3 people). Can you say where we can find people who provide this service and how much they charge on average? Are there any do's or don'ts to this?

Trieste Travelling Trieste/Ljubljana/Bled
Posted: Tue April 10, 2007 11:10 AM UTC
Hi!
We are flying into Trieste in May for 5/6 days and are hoping to visit Trieste-Ljubljana and Lake Bled (and possibly the caves between Trieste and Ljubljana).
We are going to be using public transport. I'm just wondering whether this is a crazy plan? We arrive in Trieste round 15:00 on Thursday and leave the following Tuesday afternoon. I'm just wondering how long to devote to each place...because I know we are going to be short on time and may have to leave something out! Any iteneraries/suggestions appreciated!
Cheers!

Trieste Please help!!!!!!!!
Posted: Fri March 16, 2007 01:55 AM UTC
In april my friend is coming from Barcelona to Venice. I think there is a direct bus from Marco Polo airport to train station in Venice. I need to know how often do the trains go to Trieste and how long is the ride in general. Then the another question is about Trieste main bus station for Rijeka or Fiume. How can I know the time schedule when the busses go to Rijeka and when is the last one....thanks in advance -)

Trieste Driving rental car from Trieste to croatia
Posted: Thu January 25, 2007 11:28 AM UTC
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to hire a car in Trieste or Venice and drive to Croatia, ending up dropping the car back at Dubrovnik? Most sites i have tried appear not to allow pick up in Italy and return in Croatia.

Also - can anyone advise if driving in Croatia is easy and worth doing compared to just getting trains or buses?

Thanks for any help

Trieste Ging back to birth place
Posted: Sun August 27, 2006 04:21 AM UTC
Ciao,

I was born in Trieste quite a few years ago. My father was in the service there. My elderly parents, sister and myself will be there in September for 4 or so days. This is a trip of a lifetime for me as I was only 7 months old when we left. Will it be difficult to travel with elderly parents and knowing little Italian? We are all US Citizens.
Thank you for any helpful information.
Sincerely,
Annetta

Trieste Border crossing for non-EU citizen from Istria to Trieste
Posted: Tue August 15, 2006 01:07 AM UTC
Hi,

Our plan is to fly into Dubrovnik and slowly travel up north. We plan to be in Istria for 3-4 days, and then fly out of Trieste. The issue is that we have a visa for Croatia, and Italy, but not Slovenia. Is it possible to get a transit visa at the border? We can show passport, hotel reservation of the same day in Trieste, Schengen visa, financial statements, or pretty much any documents they can possibly ask for. (we do not have time to get Slovenia visa now)

If this does not work, our plan B is to get a taxi boat to drop us off at Trieste. But we could not really find any taxi boat in Istria. Only thing we found is a yatch charter for a whole day for 250 euro, which is way too expensive. If anybody knows any taxi boat in Istria, please let us know.

If nothing works, we plan to take a ferry to Venice, and get back to Trieste on land. That will be about 120 euro and 4 hour detour, ouch..

If anybody has any suggestion, please let us know.

Thank you,
WK

Trieste Trieste/Slovenia logistics
Posted: Mon July 31, 2006 12:55 AM UTC
We are planning to visit Slovenia later this month and noticed that it is much cheaper to fly into Trieste from the USA than Ljubljana. Is the border crossing between the two countries much of a hassle? Also, can you rent cars in Italy and drive them into SLovenia? Trieste seems to have some interesting sights to see. Would people recommend staying in Trieste or Piran for the coastal part of our trip?

Trieste Croatia-Trieste-Venice and back
Posted: Wed April 19, 2006 07:30 AM UTC
Hi
I'm planning on taking a trip from Umag, Croatia to Venice. I've been trying to check out different timetables - by sea, rail and bus. It seems that bus & train method is the cheapest. But but...

If I understood correctly, the earliest bus I can use from Umag to Trieste, is in Trieste at 8.30 am. That would probably be too late to jump into the train that leaves at 8.47, isn't it? Does anyone know if there are any earlier buses from Umag to Trieste? And is it a long way from the bus station to the railway station where the train to Venice leaves?

And then there's always the return; as I'd like to spend more than 3-4 hours in Venice, it feels weird that the last bus I found would leave Trieste at 15.00 or so to Umag and at 17.00 to Piran which is quite close to Umag, isn't it? Plus there's also a bus at 18.00 to Buje. Do you know if there are any later buses to Istria? I mean I'd like to be in Venice 'til 16.10 or 17.10 train and then head back to Trieste and possibly still spend an hour or two in Trieste.

Oh, I'm taking the trip in July, if that helps you. I suppose there aren't the timetables for high season yet but do they vary a lot from those there are available now? And what about transportation prices? Are they higher in July?

I hope someone can help me with these questions. Thanx in advance. :)
