Hello,
Has anyone stayed at this hotel? We are considering staying there and would like to know if people were pleased with it. If you did stay there, do you know if rooms can be booked from the USA? Their website does not appear to offer English. Thanks!

Kinosaki Are tattoos okay in the Onsen?
Posted: Thu October 23, 2008 03:37 AM UTC
My friend has a tattoo that's too big to cover up. We were warned that certain onsen throughout Japan will prohibit his entrance. Have any of you had experience with this in Kinosaki? I really want to go there but if he's not allowed in the Onsen, there's no point.

Hyogo-ken Nada no Kenka Matsuri (Nada Fight Festival) 灘のけんか祭り
Posted: Sat August 2, 2008 08:40 PM UTC
Hi all,

I intend to vist the Nada Fight Festival in Himeiji in Oct 14, 15. I'd like to know if anyone here is PARTICIPATING in this festival, or knows of someone who does??

Also, any information on the festival, its duration, would be very much appreciated. Travel information to Himeiji would be great too! I assume I would have to land in Osaka, then catch a train / bus to Himeiji?

Kobe Food
Posted: Sat January 19, 2008 08:59 PM UTC
I will be traveling to Kobe in the fall and I am a very picky eater.
I really do not care for fish nor rice.
Should I send or are you allowed to send non-perishable food to
Japan?
Do they have restauant's like the outback in the U.S?
Is the food at McDonald's the same food we have here?

Thank You

Can you please tell me some protocol for a Westerner to know that you feel is most important when traveling to Japan?
Is the food completely different? What about customs and manners that are different? Also, is the subway or train the easiest way to get around?
What are the best sites to see in Kobe?

Does anyone know which airline would be the best to fly to Kobe from the US?
Someone told us to go on a Chinese Airline, that sounds odd, but maybe that is the way to go. We have no idea.

Kobe Inexpensive transportation to Kobe cruise terminal

What is the best and least expensive way to get from Kobe, near the Sannomiya Station, to the cruise terminal in Kobe? My information so far is it will cost us about $100 to go by taxi/limo. Are there other alternatives? We are two people and will be travelling with at least 4 pieces of luggage.

On my upcoming Japan trip, I am planning on stopping by Himeji for several hours before heading out to Kyoto from Hiroshima. I was just wondering if there are any storage lockers in Himeji train station that can fit a backpack. If so, how much does it usually cost?

Kobe Train Tickets from Osaka-Kobe and back
Posted: Fri August 25, 2006 01:37 AM UTC
OK, this is our 2nd post for our trip to Kobe on October. We are traveling to Kobe to attend a MTG PT at the International Exhibition Center in Kobe from October 20-22. We arrive to Osaka on Sunday and plan to stay there until Wenesday, when the rest of the gang arrives and we go to Kobe. In Kobe, we are looking at the Toyoko Inn Hotel which so far is the cheapest and closest to the IEH.
We have 2 (more) questions:
1. What is the cost for the train from Osaka-Kobe, and the back train?

2. Any cheap, but nice hotel, hostel or guest house in Osaka? We would like to be at least close to the metro, or the center.

We will try to go to Kyoto for a day visit:
Train cost from Osaka? Any recomended tours?

And finally, for now-what is the weather like in October?
(So, I lyed. More than 2 questions :-b)

Cheers from Barcelona

Kobe Visiting Kobe
Posted: Sun June 4, 2006 07:18 PM UTC
Hi!

I've browsed thru the most recent travelling tips for Kobe and you seem to bring up many good tips and recommendations. Because some information seems to be outdated I would like to ask some of the same questions and some new ones. I'm travelling alone. I really appreciate the time and effort you make to give me a reply! :

1. I'm arriving in Kobe in the middle of July and plan to stay for a few days. I would like to book a room that's clean and tidy, but don't need anything fancy. Preferably with an internet connection. Preferrably as central as possible and in terms of price - as good a deal as possible. Where would you recommend to stay?

2. I plan to see as much as possible while I'm there. Can you recommend a good travel agent for getting around in Kobe/Japan? I prefer to fly. What should I expect to pay?

3. I also plan to go from Kobe to Osaka and Tokyo. Which travel agent, website or airline would offer the best prices for such? Would you recommend something else that's a "must see"?

4. I love asian food - but is the native cuisine in Kobe/Japan as expensive as some people tell me? Even some japanese travellers I met said a meal of sushi costs like 100 US$ in a restaurant. That's a high average price I would say...

5. What is crime like in Kobe. Is it dangerous to wear a camera around your neck in central parts of the city - or should it be kept consealed for example? I heard it's really safe - just checking...

6. What would be your - say five - highest ranked "gotta see/do this" attractions in Kobe?

Thanks a lot for any input you might have for my questions! :)

Regards

Chris

Kobe Ryogan around Sannomiya
Posted: Mon May 30, 2005 05:37 PM UTC
On this website

http://www.japan-guide.com/forum/quereadisplay.html?0+14563

Someone mentioned about the ryogan around sannomiya station names "Ninomiya Ryokan". Unfortunately, they don't have any website or detail on the internet that I could find out. Anyone who know more about this ryokan please tell me. I will go to Kobe around one week to join with the conference but I have a limited budget. Please give me some suggestion about any kind of accommodation with cheap price around that place or Port island.

Thank you very much for your response.

Kobe Fabrics & 2nd Hand Stuff
Posted: Mon May 9, 2005 04:40 AM UTC
I am in Kobe for work right now, staying at the New Otani, & I would like some shopping advice.
I love 2nd hand stores and my wife is a quilter. Some folks have advised us to try to find 2nd hand kimono and obi for recycling into quilts and also for wear. So can you help me with this. I have no Japanese, but I do have my trusty phrasebook. I've been travelling on the JR trains so far and I'm ok with those, and I'm willing to explore.
Can you all help?

Kobe Beautiful sakura(cherry blossoms) in Kobe

Hi. I am going to visit Kobe at the end of March. I know that there are many beautiful cherry blossoms during this period of time. Would anybody tell me that where’s the best viewing spot? Moreover, is there any hot spring resort that you could enjoy the beauty of Sakura while you are having the spring? I also want to try the sushi that made by Sakura. Please give me more information about. Thank for your help.

Kobe Coming to Kobe
Posted: Tue February 15, 2005 11:16 PM UTC
Hello - My daughters and I will be coming to Kobe on March 27 , 2005 for three days. They were born there in 1961 and 1962 but we left when they were toddlers. Now they are both married and busy with children of their own. I'm excited about showing them around and hope someone in VT could help us. They were born at Kaisei International Hospital which I hope is still there. We'd also like to get recommendations on a place to stay. We'll be arriving on the Shinkansen so I thought we'd be better off staying at a hotel near the station. I have a few other questions and wonder if someone out there will respond. I sent a message to Sakura last week and have not received a response yet. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hyogo-ken Himeji's Other Interesting Sites
Posted: Tue August 24, 2004 12:54 AM UTC
Hi VT friends,

I'll be visiting Himeji for a week in early September on business. I'm excited to finally see Himeji Castle. However, is there anything else I should see besides the castle? Anything fun, strange, nice, or photogenic in particular that you could recommend? Best restaurant? A sight that can be seen within a few hours? A good place to take photos of the city?

I would appreciate info about anything besides temples... I've already seen so many heaps of temples in Japan that they have all started to look the same. I had the same experience with churches in Europe.

Thanks
