Verona to Rovereto - Late arrival Posted: Fri August 14, 2009 03:41 AM UTC
Hello,
I will be going to Rovereto. I fly to Verona and the plan was to take the train to Rovereto. HOWEVER, I just noticed that my plane arrives 22.30 to Verona airport and the last train to Rovereto goes 22.35 and the next one is 5 in the morning.
Does anyone know how I can get to Rovereto since I am arriving late? Are there buses?

Televised games Posted: Mon June 29, 2009 01:44 PM UTC
I have been told more than once that in a little town just outside of Verona - Castellaro? there is a very old game that is still played. The championship is a huge event that is televised and draws many many people. I believe the event takes place in late summer or early fall. Does anybody know what the game is? And when it is?

I'm planning to go to Verona in August and I found this charming Bed & Breakfast online that seems so nice. (Casa Rossa )
The bad part is that I haven't found any reviews about the place.
Does anyone have any comments at all?

confused by trentalia data Posted: Thu May 14, 2009 08:11 PM UTC
Looking at Verona to Rosenheim. If I say leave at 9:00am on 04/07/09 it shows the train leaving at 8:59 with a star by it and when you go forward it shows only seats for 05/07/09 at the bottom where it says reservatioons. When you go to buy it is for 05/07/09. If you say you want to leave at 7:00am it says 04/07/09 with no star by it yet it is the same train #88. At first I thought you could not take this train until the fifth because it is full. I need to go to Rosenheim early on the 4th to catch connection. Dates not flex. What does that star really mean and will that train likely be full on 04/07/09? Am I missing something here? thnx

Any hotel recommendation in Verona with good connection with University ? Posted: Mon May 4, 2009 04:05 AM UTC
Hello,
I will be visiting University of Verona
(Ca' Vignal 2, strada le Grazie 15) between June 30 and July 4
attending a conference.
I was given some hints about hotels through Verona Booking Office,
but most of them seem pretty expensive.
Any recommendation about a good hotel (3 stars or more)
at a reasonable price?
I would like to be in a location with easy connection
by bus to the University and maybe close to the city center.
Best wishes and thanks in advance!
Carlos.-

Is there a bus route map of Verona? Posted: Wed April 22, 2009 01:30 AM UTC
I'm looking at the bus timetable at http://www.apt.vr.it/orari/index_orari.html
but have difficulty figuring out which route goes where. Is there a map showing the route somewhere?
We will be staying near the intersection of Via Eugenio Curiel and Via San Marco. Which buses go past this area and where are the stops? Which one to go to the arena? We are planning to go to the opera.
Thanks,
Raymond

How long to drive from Bolzano to Verona? Where to park? Posted: Fri April 17, 2009 05:53 AM UTC
How long does it take to drive from Bolzano to Verona along A-22? Is there a lot of traffic? Is it a 2 lane highway? What's the speed limit?
Once in Verona, where are some good places to park? Roughly how much does it cost? Is there any restricted zone in Verona? I mean is there any area in Verona which requires a permit to drive through?
Thanks,
Raymond

realistic schedule for someone new to area? Posted: Tue April 14, 2009 08:38 PM UTC
I am traveling in July Verona to Badhofgastein Austria. When I look on the train schedule it has me changing: arriving venezia maestre at 11:28 and then walking to what I guess is a bus station and leaving at 11:40 The symbol says walk to what I assume is a bus station Viale Stazione? This goes to Villach Hbf 14:50 and leave 15:16 to Badgastein. Is this a realistic schedule for two people who are not fluent and do not know the area? It says ES OBB ICbus Obb EC
It is the shortest timed route but may be too complicated. Is anyone aware how difficult to get from Venezia maestre to the icbus station and the same in Villach. Perhaps someone is better at reading this schedule on the OBBwebsit. It is Verona Porta Nuova to Bad Hofgastein. Thankyou for your trouble.

I know I should have asked when I was there but can anyone tell what the orange drink was that everyone seemed to be drinking? It was drunk with ice in large wine glasses? It has been bugging me ever since I came back!
Thanks :)

Hi everyone!
I am coming to Italy for the first time and arriving at Bergamo aeroport.
I have to go to Verona and I know there's a train through Rovato.
My question is, are there special rates fro students and what are the regular fairs? I didn't find it on the net.
I will have 3 hours in Bergamo, what could I see?
Thank you!!

where to shop for antiques and "just old" stuff Posted: Mon January 12, 2009 12:40 AM UTC
where does one find affordable antiques, aged garden statuary, old olive jars, old linens etc. in the verona and vicenza area? any nice little shops, charming farmhouses or warehouses that are within a half hour drive or so -- out of the mainstream or known primarily by locals where i could find something special? i've browsed through the mercatinos (i think that's what they were called) in verona. that was fun and i plan to do it again when i'm in verona in february -- but am always looking for new things to see when i visit.

Tough one Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 09:47 PM UTC
This is a tough one...
Arrival in Malpensa airport, Milan at 12/1/09 22:15.
Could not rent a car, so at that late hour I have to find a way to go to the Hotel Turismo (Via Nazionale 58, SAN MARTINO BUON ALB 37036)that is a bit outside of Verona.
I could only find a train to Verona, which has a 4h stop in Milan, Centre.
Some good ideas would really help..
ps. maybe someone knows a rental company that accepts MAETRO or warrant in cash?
thanks in advance

Opera Posted: Wed December 17, 2008 09:05 PM UTC
#1 How do I delete a post.I have made reservations for Verona.
#2 Can anyone recommend the best site to buy 2009 opera tickets and which seats I should choose if I cannot afford the most expensive ones. I like to sit in the mezzanine for plays at home..up higher rather than front row..would the side seats be comparable? Should I pay the max and get the best for this experience? Thank you.

opinion on B&B and transportation Posted: Fri December 12, 2008 06:51 PM UTC
I am considering accomodations Domus Nova by Piazza Erbe? Is this close to the train station and would it be recommended? It is fairly expensive. Also is there anywhere to swim in Verona? Making a compromise...my husband does not want to drive this trip and City accomodations do not have pools for the most part. Would like to stay outside of the city but missed the opera last time and do not know how to hire a car for this. Any recommendations for villas, hotels out of city with pools and car hire or near public transport? I want something that does not seem a generic hotel. I enjoy train and bus or car with driver? Last question...typical american...I would like to go to a cooking class at someone's house...It looks like so much fun.
Thank you and kindest regards...

How to order destinations in N. Italy, (5 week trip over X-mas). Posted: Thu December 4, 2008 04:13 PM UTC
How to order destinations in N. Italy, (5 week trip over X-mas).
I have 5 weeks to explore Northern Italy, arriving in Bergamo, and visiting different parts of the North specifically including:
1) Trentino/Bolzano (Dolomites)
2) Genoa/Cinque Terre
3) Como/Maggiore Lakes
My question is how to order the trip? Which region first?
I'm arriving in the middle of December at Bergamo, and leaving in the middle of January (again from Bergamo).
I guess I will have to go to Milan, at some point but it's really the least important stop for me (except for maybe the Duomo cathedral there). I can't hitchhike because it's too cold, so I'm dependant on Italy's discount bus, and rail tickets (if they even exist)? Some rail networks, like Norway, and other bus companies, like a few in London, offer really cheap discount e-tickets if purchased well in advance, sometimes only 1 euro, plus tax. Other countries are really good for rideshare, or lifeshare, (NOT carpooling), where young people share the cost of gas/driving, and more or less ride for free. Does Italy factor in on any of these possibilities?
Please let me know in which order to visit these provinces/regions, and where to spend Christmas, and New Years. Please note I really like landscapes, and photography but prefer to stay away from groups of tourists, Italian or otherwise especially when they're skiing. I don't like ski lifts either, I prefer quiet valleys, and kind, hospitable townspeople, with delicious local foods.
Thanks

Verona to Venice by train Posted: Fri August 8, 2008 01:02 PM UTC
Hi all, thanks in advance...
Just checking how frequent (and expensive) the train service is from Verona to Venice in September?
I want to take a day trip to Venice during this time (how early do the trains run to Venice and how late coming back to Verona)
I've also heard that Venice is very expensive, any recommendations for well priced good food? :)
