Hi everyone,

we're 5 youngsters between 18 and 20 years old and we're planning to do a roadtrip across Italy in August. Some of us have a driverlicense but not long enough to rent a car, so we're moving by foot, train, busses,... We were planning to take the bus from Firenze to Volterra, stay there for one night and go to Lucca the next day by bus. Many sites about busses are in Italian, which is a language none of us speaks.. we managed to figure out how to go by bus from Firenze to Volterra, but we're still searching for a way to go from Volterra to Lucca. Can anyone help us with that?
We were also wondering what the best hostel/hotel/camping(we have tents) would be for the 5 of us, we're all students, we can live without luxury and we look for the cheapest way to stay a night at Volterra.

thanks for trying to help us

A friend and I will be arriving in Pisa in October and plan to spend 2 nights in Volterra. Neither is brave to drive in Italy so we are looking for public transportation. Any advice and estimates of cost? Grazie mille!

I am traveling to Florence in June and want to visit Volterra and San Gimignano. It seems that it is not that easy to get to Volterra by public transportation and that it takes a long time. The bus site is in Italian and I am having trouble with it. I don't want to sit on the bus all day with just a little time in Volterra.

Would I be better of renting a car for a day and seeing both Volterra and San Gimignano that day? I would want to spend as much time as possible in each place, but especially in Volterra.

Thanks

Has anyone rented a Vespa in Volterra? We're staying at villa in between Volterra and San Gimignano for a week and would like to have some cheap transportation between the 2 towns. Any ideas on cost or where to rent? Do the dirt roads permit scooters? Thanks!
