I will go from Norway to Tokyo medio Decembre this year. The trip will include a visit to Kirin, the foreigners graveyard and Yokohama Archives of hitory. Maybe the Ramen Museum as well. I am interested in food and drink history and the early Yokohama history.
Are there other places I should consider to visit. Can I spend the evening in Yokohama and get back to Ueno rather late or should I try to get a place to stay in Yokohama. (I know one day in Y. is little, but will hopefully get back.)
hi. can I use the Tokyo Frii Kippu pass for my ride to odawara station. and pls. furnish me with the train schedule from odawara station to kyoto station. thanks
I was wondering if anyone could help me with the following:
My visit to Tokyo is planned during the national holiday period (staying from 2 - 6 May) and during that time I would love to visit Kamakura. There are no tours available during the holiday period and I was wondering if anyone knows if the sights (temples, shrines, etc) will be open during this period.
If so, I probably head over there myself and do some wondering around.
Hope that someone can help me out with this issue.
Hi all, never been to japan so would like to know in detail how to
(1) Visit Kamakura from Shin Yokohama area...i would like to see the great buddlha and see some temples, (walk-able?) between the kita kamakura and kamakura stations? Any idea it can be done in a day? How much is the train fees etc?
(2)Visit toyko Imperial palace and Asakusa Kannon Temple from Shin Yokohama? If i take the JR tokaido or Yokosuka Line, where should i stop? Or any better way?
(3) To Shibuya from Shin Yokohama...do i use JR tokaido or Yokosuka Line? Worth visiting?
hope someone can help..Thanks all in advance... :-)
How can we go to disney sea by riding a train from sakuragicho station? We are planning to head on Saturday and we want to check the convenient and cheapest way in going to disney sea.
I was born here in 1977. I would love to come and visit my birth place. So i am hopeing there is someone there that can tell me about my birth place and how it looks today and how much it has changed since 1977. Can someone help me?
I am contemplating whether to stay in an onsen ryokan in Hakone or Takaragawa. I really like the looks of Takaragawa onsen but is it possible to get there via Hakone? My plan is arriving Hakone from Tokyo, spends morning and afternoon there and then take a train to Takaragawa. Will I have enough time to do that or am I being unrealistic?
Also, can somebody recommends a good onsen with outdoor bath and also serves great kaiseiki dinner?
Hi. Im travelling to tokyo 2nd week of May, and would like to go to Hakone and spend a night there. Would you have any recommendations on where to stay? I just need clean, private toilet and bath in my room, and would like to stay in a typical japanese inn. I hope to get a nice view of mount fuji, and the lake. im willing to spend 15-20 thousand yen for the overnight stay.
I am arranging a 2-day package trip through JTB Sunrise agency and trying to decide between the Hakone Hotel Kowakien ($263) and Yumoto Fujiya Hotel ($408). The latter is more expensive since dinner and breakfast is included.
Both hotels offer onsen, but I am not sure which one to stay at. Your comments and guidance would be much appreciated. Food, location, quality are all considerations.
From Odawara in the morning with hikari shinkansen to Hiroshima and continue with JR local line to Miyajima. short trip there back by JR train and streetcar to Hiroshima Peace Park. o/n Hiroshima
I'm actually going to Odawara the 30.th of December to buy kamaboko. Is there a nice place to stay in Odawara or should I go to Hakone? Is there a place to eat kamaboko as well? Is the fishing port active?
Accomodation Posted: Sat November 11, 2006 09:23 AM UTC
Will be in Japan for 5 days in January. As we will be flying into Tokyo it has been suggested we have 2 nights in Kamakura. Would this be a good idea? If so does anyone know of some decent accomodation, ideally in a Ryokan or similar.
i will be travelling to tokyo at the end of this mth and will be staying in a hotel in shinjuku. from various website, i found out that there are some day tours for mt fuji+hakone+lake ashi day trips. was wondering if i should go separately for these places? seems that hakone is a big place and mt fuji is just the 5th stn?
in summary:
1) can i manage to go mt fuji & hakone on the same day w/o the day tour package?
2) if so, can hw can i travel from mt fuji to hakone?
3) is lake ashi at mt fuji or hakone?
Hello to my Yokohama friends-
Wanted to find out if anyone has recommendations for hotels near the train station (10 min. by cab. Only requirement is private bathrooms.
Thank you!
How easy is it to get from the port at Yokohama into central Tokyo and back?
I will only have about 10 hours from the time I disembark to the time I have to get back on to the ship so how easy will it be to see at least something of Tokyo?
Many thanks

Half a century ago the very best shumai in Yokohama -- or anywhere else I visited in Japan -- was at Hakugan, a Chinese restaurant that specialized in that delicacy. It was located on Isezaki-cho. Does anyone know if it's still there?
My wife and I are planning to stay in Kamakura for a night and we would like to stay in a hotel with some privacy and security. We would like to have the name of the inexpensive hotels.
Hi, I have a few questions with regards to this hotel and its accessibility.
How do I get there from Shinjuku Station (assuming I'll take the Odakyu Railway)? How do I get to the main natural attractions from the hotel (eg. ropeway, sightseeing ship, etc.)? Does the hotel provide soap, shampoo, towels, toothpaste, toothbrush? Are the hotel's onsen located on the premises or do I need to go to Yunnesan for hot springs?
