Hakone Onsen ryokan in Hakone or Takaragawa?
Posted: Fri July 6, 2007 05:03 AM UTC
Hi,

I am contemplating whether to stay in an onsen ryokan in Hakone or Takaragawa. I really like the looks of Takaragawa onsen but is it possible to get there via Hakone? My plan is arriving Hakone from Tokyo, spends morning and afternoon there and then take a train to Takaragawa. Will I have enough time to do that or am I being unrealistic?

Also, can somebody recommends a good onsen with outdoor bath and also serves great kaiseiki dinner?

Many thanks

Hakone Hakone Hotel Kowakien or Yumoto Fujiya Hotel?
Posted: Fri April 13, 2007 08:08 PM UTC
I am arranging a 2-day package trip through JTB Sunrise agency and trying to decide between the Hakone Hotel Kowakien ($263) and Yumoto Fujiya Hotel ($408). The latter is more expensive since dinner and breakfast is included.

Both hotels offer onsen, but I am not sure which one to stay at. Your comments and guidance would be much appreciated. Food, location, quality are all considerations.

Yokohama Curry Museum
Posted: Tue January 23, 2007 06:14 AM UTC
Has anyone on this site ever been there? How is it? I don't know how an entire museum could be devoted to curry, but I'm interested in seeing it. My boyfriend & I both love curry so he suggested that we go there for fun when I visit in February. What are people's opinions on that place?

I'll be staying at that hotel from Feb.13th to 14th of 2007 & was just wondering what people's opinions were of it. How were the rooms? Western or traditional? Did anybody use the onsen, public or private?
Thanks for your help!!!

Kamakura Accomodation
Posted: Sat November 11, 2006 08:23 AM UTC
Will be in Japan for 5 days in January. As we will be flying into Tokyo it has been suggested we have 2 nights in Kamakura. Would this be a good idea? If so does anyone know of some decent accomodation, ideally in a Ryokan or similar.

Cheers

Odawara big luggage lockers available for hire at JR Odawara station?
Posted: Fri August 25, 2006 08:21 AM UTC
I have a backpack (slightly larger than school go-ers size)
and a check-in luggage of about 30kg capacity.

Does JR Odawara station have lockers big enough for my luggage?
What are the dimensions of the lockers available?
How much do they cost?

I'm just making a day trip from Tokyo to Odawara/Hakone area and will proceed to Kyoto afterwards.

Thank you!

How easy is it to get from the port at Yokohama into central Tokyo and back?
I will only have about 10 hours from the time I disembark to the time I have to get back on to the ship so how easy will it be to see at least something of Tokyo?
Many thanks

Hakone Where to stay in Hakone?
Posted: Mon March 13, 2006 03:31 PM UTC
My husband and I will spend a night in Hakone on April 7 - I know it's late to be looking, so this why I'm having trouble booking a room
Here are the options I have found so far:
Matsuzakaya Honten
http://www.nxsco.com/matsuzakaya/english/annai.html
32,220yen total
Japanese style room ( Equipped with Hot Spa.Bath & Toilet)
TENSEIEN
http://web.travel.rakuten.co.jp/portal/my/info_page_e.Eng?f_no=5199
33600 yen
MAIN BUILDING JAPANESE STYLE ROOM (WITH FULL BATHROOM)
Hotel Senkei
http://www.senkei.net/eng/senkei-hotel.html
27,600 yen
Japanese style room with bath (onsen?)
Hakone Sansui
http://www.hakone-sansui.com/price_e.html
12,540*2
does not look like it has hot spring bath in room, but nice looking outdoor one available for private charter
Kinokuniya
http://www.hakone-kinokuniya.co.jp/eng/eng.htm
13,500*2?
has a lot of history
Hakone Elegance
http://hakone-elegance.com/index_e.html
No Japanese style room, but close to lake - good location?
price - unsure - 8,650*2? probably without meals
Fujiya
$127 special
Fuji Hakone Guest House
http://www.fujihakone.com
11850 yen, meals not included
I'm really confused as to which location is most advantageous and which is the best value
any advice/experiences appreciated
Thanks in advance!

Yokohama Hakugan shumai
Posted: Wed May 11, 2005 07:35 AM UTC
Half a century ago the very best shumai in Yokohama -- or anywhere else I visited in Japan -- was at Hakugan, a Chinese restaurant that specialized in that delicacy. It was located on Isezaki-cho. Does anyone know if it's still there?

Hakone B&B Pansion Hakone
Posted: Tue May 4, 2004 05:25 AM UTC
Hi, I have a few questions with regards to this hotel and its accessibility.

How do I get there from Shinjuku Station (assuming I'll take the Odakyu Railway)?
How do I get to the main natural attractions from the hotel (eg. ropeway, sightseeing ship, etc.)?
Does the hotel provide soap, shampoo, towels, toothpaste, toothbrush?
Are the hotel's onsen located on the premises or do I need to go to Yunnesan for hot springs?

Thanks.
