Aix-en-Provence Going to various places from Aix en Provence
Posted: Sun September 2, 2007 05:44 AM UTC
Hi,
I have seen the comment that it is faster to travel to various places by bus from Aix.
Is it cheaper than TGV?
I am looking at staying at Aix for 5 days and making day trips to the following.
- Nice & St Tropez
- Luberon
- Arles

Do you think TGV is cheaper or bus is cheaper?

Aix-en-Provence RWC 2007 Camping
Posted: Wed August 15, 2007 10:52 PM UTC
I've got tickets for the quarter final matches in October and will be travelling to the Marseille area in my campervan.

Will it be better to camp in Aix-En-Provence and take the bus or train to Marseille?

There are two camp sites on the edge of town, how far are these from the bus or train stations?

Thanks!

Aix-en-Provence Any direct-route bus/train from Aix to Arles
Posted: Wed April 4, 2007 05:17 AM UTC
Hi all, I will visit Aix in mid June. I would like to go from Aix to Arles. so, I would like to know whether there's a direct-route bus or train running from Aix to Arles? Is there any web for the bus schedule( better have Eng.version coz I can't read French). I've checked the SCNF web, it seems that there's no direct-route train to Arles, it requires a stop changing at Marseille. So, can anyone help the bus schedule, thanks.

Aix-en-Provence Are markets open on holidays?
Posted: Wed April 4, 2007 01:43 AM UTC
I will be traveling in Provence during the first week in May. Will the markets follow the normal schedule that week, since Tuesday, May 1st is a holiday? We're trying to decide how to plan the week, what to avoid, what not to miss, and how different the holiday schedule will be for normal events.

I have read from some members saying that connecting bus ride from marseille to Aixen Provence is far more convenience compared to taking a train. Would appreciate if anyone can provide the bus schedule within this 2 towns.

If above is true, can someone advice if purchasing the carnet ticket btw marseille to aixen provence is possible and that the ticket will still be valid within the town in aixen provence.

Please help,

Aix-en-Provence Restaurants & things to do in Aix
Posted: Wed August 23, 2006 06:57 AM UTC
Hi everyone,

First post for me. I'll be visiting family in Geneva next month and will take some time away to spend three days in Aix en Provence. I'm booked at the Hotel Cezanne and would like to get some recommendations for great places to eat and in general things to do while I'm there.

I'm really interested in seeing as much of the real local life as possible. I am seriously considering retiring and relocating to France and Aix is very high on my list of possible choices.

Thank you all in advance for any advice you may offer.

Aix-en-Provence Aix at Christmas
Posted: Thu August 17, 2006 02:18 AM UTC
I have three basic questions. My daughter and I are planning a trip to Aix 12/22 - 12/30/06. Better to fly into Nice or Marseilles (Nice seems less expensive). Hotell suggestions (Hotel Cezanne and Aquebelle seem most promising so far). Dinner options for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day?
Thanks.

Aix-en-Provence Help me!!
Posted: Thu July 27, 2006 01:31 PM UTC
Hey folks I am 20 year old law student who will be moving to Aix en provece in a matter of weeks (2nd september!!) and can not find any accoamadation that fits my budget. Ideally I cant spend more than 360 euro a week but i could stretch to a little more. I would love get a room in a house or flat with some other people, kind of meet new folks and what not but at this stage i am getting desperate! if anyone knows where i can see adds for people looking for house mates or where i can still find accomadation that doesnt require me to pay the whole years rent in one lump sum i would really appreciate it. I will be staying for approx 9 months and it is vital that it be in reasonable proximity to the Law univeristy, paul cezanne!

thanks

Aix-en-Provence Looking for a studio in Aix?
Posted: Tue May 23, 2006 03:06 PM UTC
I rent my student studio in June, July and August 2006.
It is a one person studio featuring a single bed, a desk, a kitchen, a small refrigerator, cupboards and a complete bathroom. My studio is located in a nice, calm and securised residence. The studio is one minute from bakeries, supermarket, drugstore. There are also many services in the residence such as a laundry room. The best advantages are that you are, on walking, 5 minutes from the Cours Mirabeau (old center of the city), 1 minutes from the bus station (you could visit the region), 3 minutes from the SNCF station. The price is 500 Euros (all included) for the month + a rental deposit of 500 Euros. If you are interested in my proposition, reply to this topic as soon as possible.

Aix-en-Provence life in Aix?
Posted: Fri April 21, 2006 02:39 PM UTC
Hey
I'm going to Paul Cezanne university of Aix in Sept and i've been told it's better to share an appartment as i'm going for a year. Does anybody have any knowledge of whether it is easy/difficult to find a flat share in the centre ville? Any recommendations as to available rooms at that time?
If any1 also has info about the uni itself or any experiences they've had living in Aix would be great.
Thanks

Aix-en-Provence Trustworthy accommodation service??
Posted: Thu April 20, 2006 02:43 AM UTC
We will be staying in Aix for 17 nights and would like to rent an apartment in the town. We have found a really nice-looking one for a reasonable price on the "Arbitel" person-to-person rental website. But we want to be sure that this is a reliable group. The landlord we have contacted barely speaks English, and so it has been difficult to communicate with him. The tourism authority of Aix has not heard of him (but that probably doesn't mean anything). He wants 50% of the rental as a deposit (which is a lot, because our stay is 17 days). We are worried about sending a large sum of money to a stranger. It would be awful to turn up and find out that the accommodation does not even exist, and that not only hae we done our dough, but we have nowhere to stay for 17 days.

Can anyone vouch for Arbitel, or suggest a way that I can check up on the landlord?

Many thanks,
Miss G.

Aix-en-Provence Public transport (esp.trains) around Aix en Provence?
Posted: Thu April 20, 2006 02:34 AM UTC
We are visiting Aix in July/August and will be relying on public transport. We'd like to get around and see the small surrounding areas, but I understand that the main train is the TGV and that it goes to Avignon without any interesting stops. Is there a smaller, local rail network to see other interesting villages and towns? Can I see a map of the network on the web somewhere?

And is there a bus network?
Thanks.
