Manila I goofed, I put this in the wrong forum.
Posted: Sat April 26, 2008 04:51 PM UTC
So now I will put it here.

I see many postings and ads for rooms in Manila, that are said to be cheap. but my idea of cheap is 200-400 pesos a night, I don't want a added breakfast, as I can find my own food, and I am sure better than a hotel breakfast..Now the cheapest, I can find on line is around 750. but I am sure there are many small unadvertised places that would be less. If anyone has real experence with a guest house like this, let me know. I plan on spending 1-2 months in Philippines my next trip.... I am also returning to Cagayan de oro. I remember a hotel, I don't remember the street, but in the center of town, near divesoria. they had rooms for 450 p. I never see hotels like this mentioned in any forums. but if there is one, there must be more. Thanks for your attention.

Manila Budget Hotel near US Embassy Manila, suggestions pls.
Posted: Wed April 23, 2008 07:48 AM UTC
We will be having our medical sched this may 13 and interview at USEM on May 21.. can anybody suggest a nice, clean and decent budget place to stay from May 12 to May 21? I will be with my 2 kids (8 & 10years old). We are hoping to find a place within 1,000-1,700 range.

Has anybody tried or know anything about Jade Vine Executive Inn along UN Avenue? The lady I spoke to seemed very pleasant and the price is just within our budget but I am not sure if the place is ok becoz sometimes the picture on the net could be deceiving. I hope somebody could help me out.

Thank you very much.

I am planning to go to Manila in Mid-July. I will be travelling on AirAsia flight to Clark. Then I need to take Cebu Air to Dumaguete. How far is this airport to Ninoy Aquino International Airport? Is there any budget hotel which I can stay for a night?

Manila Music in Manila.
Posted: Sat April 12, 2008 12:20 PM UTC
Hi, I would like to take my wife out for the night in Manila. She is from Laguna and has heard of Ratsky's and would like to go there, but I'm not so sure. I heard it was a place for tenagers! Somewhere that has a live band playing easy-listening music. Food isn't necessary but would be good if people recommend it. Would prefer near Ermita/Malate if possible. Thanks, Alex.

Manila Frustrated!
Posted: Thu April 10, 2008 08:48 AM UTC
I've been in the P.I. for nearly 3 months and everytime I try to call the operator, the line is ALWAYS busy. I'm also trying to call the Vietnamese Embassy and the line is always either busy or it just rings off the hook. Can someone give me a tip on how to get through.
Also, on the off chance that someone knows how much a Vietnam visa would cost at the embassy in Manila, that would help me out tons!
Thanks!

Manila Holy week
Posted: Mon March 17, 2008 05:02 AM UTC
Hello,
My boyfriend and I are in Manila for a little and we'd like to go to San Fernando in Pampanga for Good Friday. We're particularly interested in the live crucifixions. I need a few suggestions: a)is it better to stay in Manila and take a bus to San Fernando the day of Good Friday or should we just get a room there? We're looking for budget accommodation and can't find any on VT or any of the guide books we have. b) when are the crucifixions held? are there several acts all day or is it a single event in which everyone gathers at one point? c) we'll be in Manila for a while so if anyone wants to do a little VT get together that would be great!
All advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Manila 12 hours in Manila
Posted: Thu March 13, 2008 03:31 PM UTC
I am arriving on 14th april on an Air Asia flight from Kuala Lumpur and departing the same night on a Continental flight to Guam.
Air Asia arrives at Clark. CO leaves from International Airport.at 10 55 pm
I am told that there is a shuttle between Clark and International Airport, with a stop over in some shopping centre.
I would appreciate any suggestions and helpful advice how to spend a few hours, away from the airport.
Is it possible to engage a taxi or a cab for a few hours to go around Manila, is it worth it, because of the time schedule?
I am interested in Museums, Good Food and Bookstores.
Thanks in advance.

Manila International to Domestic terminals
Posted: Mon March 10, 2008 05:37 AM UTC
I'm catching a plane to Iloilo with Cebu Pacific Airlines but I am landing in the international terminal. Is it an easy/fast walk to the Domestic Terminal or would you recommend taking a taxi? I'll probably have only two bags, one backpack and one rolling bag.

Manila Weather in Manila
Posted: Sun March 2, 2008 01:37 PM UTC
Now I've heard the rainy season doesn't start until May? But I've been checking weather.com and it's saying scattered T-storms at 50% everyday! My hometown is Florida and our summers are the same way. Rain for 30 minutes, sunny for 45, rain again etc etc.

Think I'll get rained on my entire trip...?

Manila First time traveling to Manila, and will be alone!
Posted: Sun March 2, 2008 12:49 PM UTC
I'll be heading out to Manila, March 13th-17th. Small vacation away from work here in Korea. I'm 22 years old, been to other major cities (Tokyo, Seoul, Bangkok, Taipei etc), I'm guessing the closest city to compare it to would be Bangkok? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I've read a lot about stick-ups, pickpockets, kidnapping, horror stories that are making me watch my back already and I haven't even left! I understand every major city has it's problems. But will I have to be overly cautious or just use common sense.

I enjoy traveling alone, forces me to enteract with the locals, mingle more etc. but would it be wise to do so in Manila? Any tips or advise will be greatly appreciated!

Ah one more thing, I was trying to find some up-scale nightclubs (that plays hip-hop! Trance/house music makes me bust out in epileptic fits), no hole in the wall type places, I see enough of those here in Korea.

Thanks again!

Manila NAIA Airport
Posted: Sun February 24, 2008 12:34 AM UTC
I plan to go backpacking, but the problem is I don't know if my things in my backpack will get lost when I arrive at NAIA Airport. I am from Manila myself but I don't even know if it's safe. Before, we usually use luggage, at least it's easier to have them locked. But I'm on a budget trip and carrying a big backpack is much conveninent. The only things that will be in my backpack on my way back to MAnila is my dirty laundry and used toiletries.

Think they will get lost on the airport? (Because I think the only place that I can use the padlock is the lower part of the backpack)
