Bermuda Cameroon entrance requirements
Posted: Mon September 4, 2006 07:08 PM UTC
A new member from Cameroon keeps emailing me and wanting me to get him a letter of introduction so that he and his wife can visit Bermuda. I don't know what he is talking about. Is this just a question of terminology, and he means a visa, or do people from Cameroon actually need a letter of reference for a tourist visit, or is it some kind of scam?

Bermuda Caribbean Website?
Posted: Sun November 27, 2005 10:44 PM UTC
Good Day,

My wife and I are thinking of doing a warm weather vacation for the first time and considering the Caribbean. We are from Minneapolis. Minnesota so we are really looking forward to having a sunny vacation to look forward to (that sounds kind of redundant doesn't it?).

Of course, a quick look at travel sites let's me know that there is ton of islands to choose from. I'm having a hard time telling them apart but I'm sure their are differences. I'm sure some are better than others and some are likely better for different type of people and what they like to do.

Does anyone know of a website or websites that does a good job of breaking down the types of travelers that would enjoy the different types of islands?

I guess our profile is that we want the beautiful beach and weather but not so much the party town thing. We want some shopping but more likely things to see and do culturally. We like muesems and history and natural wonders as well.

Any hints or especially websites would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Bermuda I have to choose one of these restaurants.
Posted: Sat October 8, 2005 03:07 PM UTC
Hello! We are going with a group next week and one evening my wife and I get to choose on of the following restaurants. We do not even get to see the bill. I have heard a lot about Tom Moore's, but the more I find the less attractive it is. This is the list? Any feedback is appreciated. I am looking for the best in quality and best looking venue.

Ascots, Aqua, Cafe Lido, Coconuts, Fourways, La Coquille, Tom Moore's and Waterloo House. Thanks, M

Bermuda Bermuda Hotel Situation
Posted: Fri September 16, 2005 02:24 PM UTC
My wife and I have reservations at a new resort called '9 Beaches' in the Sandys area of Bermuda. Our trip is scheduled for October but I read in yesterday's Royal Gazette (the Bermuda newspaper) that this resort is on the verge of bankruptcy so now I'm thinking we should change resorts rather than risk them going out of business and us having no place to stay next month.

Any recommendations on a good place to stay - we're unfamiliar with the island so have no real preferences for a particular area.

Thanks,
Rick

Bermuda First Visit to Bermuda - Lots of Questions
Posted: Thu July 28, 2005 07:31 PM UTC
Hi,

My wife and I will be making our first trip to Bermuda in mid-October. We only have 4-days so, of course, we'd like to make the most of them and we have some questions for the experts...

Hotels/Resorts -

- I think we're going to stay at the '9 Beaches' resort (I think it's fairly new). Does anyone know anything about this place?

Beaches -

- From what I've seen, the weather should be nice and warm in October, and good for swimming. Is this correct?

- I've heard the Clearwater Beach is a good spot to visit but that it's hard to find. Can anyone tell us how to get there? Is it in a safe area?

- I've seen recommendations that describe John Smith's Bay as both "touristy" and "non-touristy". So, is it touristy or non-touristy?

- I understand that Shelly Bay is a good "locals" beach. Will locals have a problem with non-local visitors?

Restaurants -

- Both the 'Swizzle Inn' and the 'Porch Cafe' seem to get high marks. What makes them good? What about 'Tom Moore's'?

Scooters -

- I've never ridden a scooter before, but I can ride a bicycle with the best of them :-). Are the 2-person scooters really that hard to control? Not sure that my wife will feel safe riding a scooter on her own in traffic.

Other stuff -

- I've heard that you can do hiking on the Bermuda Railway paths. Are there maps available?

- Is the Carnival party on Hawkins Island a good time or not?

- I am not a certified scuba diver but have done some diving with 'resort certifications'. Is there any place that provides that in Bermuda?

- Which of the following is worthwhile (if we have time)?
oFort St. Catherine
oBermuda Trust Museum
oBermuda Underwater Exploration Institute
oBermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo
oDockyard

I know it's a lot of questions and I certainly don't expect anyone to answer them all but any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rick

Bermuda Off Season and The Reefs or Cambridge Beaches
Posted: Thu June 23, 2005 05:42 PM UTC
Hi...We've been to Bermuda twice, but it's been over 5 years since our last visit. We are planning to return in April 2006 and I have 2 questions:

1. Will most facilities and tourist attractions, shops, restaurants, etc. be open in early to mid April?

2. Which hotel? We love the pics of The Reefs and have read many great reviews on The Reefs and Cambridge Beaches. We're in our 40's, like quiet and serene with gorgeous views and many amenities and great accommodations. We would appreciate any and all comments/opinions. Thanking you in advance!
