Accommodations in Avignon Posted: Fri June 15, 2007 08:30 PM UTC
Hello,
My husband and I have 4 days/nights in Avignon and 4 days/nights in the Bourdeax region mid September. Can anyone recommed hotel in Avignon that is nice, with an outdoor patio attached for afternoon relaxing AND nice rooms....mostly on the quiet side and decnet bedding. Its our 10th anniversary to I'd like to make it special!
Thanks so much,
Peace be with you,
Doreen

Is it possible to see the Pont du gard from the train? Posted: Sat January 20, 2007 06:45 PM UTC
We will be traveling from Avignon to Nimes, and were wondering if you can see the Pont du gard from the train. Would it make a difference to see it from the TGV or the regional train or the TGV, or perhaps from a different city coming down such as Orange? Thank you.

Day trips from Avignon Posted: Tue November 21, 2006 05:03 AM UTC
Is it possible to do day trips down to the coast? ie Cassis by public transport from Avignon? Trying to decide whether to just stay in Avignon or move down to the coast. I would like to see the Verdun gorge and am wondering if it would be cheaper/easier to do via public transport from Avignon or from the coast.
Thanks.

9 days in Provence Posted: Tue November 21, 2006 12:27 AM UTC
I have 4 days to kill whilst my husband is on a Tour de France trip. I thought I would base myself in Avignon for 4 days and then move on to see another area. I won't have a car but enjoy walking. I thought I would go on a couple of organised day trips and see other places by hopping on and off local transport. Can someone suggest a base for the other 4 days? I suppose Marseille would be obvious but I really prefer smaller places, but need public transport arteries. Actually, I wouldn't mind doing a coach tour of Provence, but all the ones I can find have flights included. If anyone can suggest anything I would be really appreciative. I wouldn't even mind moving on to another area completely - but don't want to be in a city. Thanks so much.

Provence buses and trains Posted: Mon October 23, 2006 07:38 AM UTC
Is it possible to visit many/some of the Avignon and near district tourist attractions by local bus and train, rather than having to take tours? If so, which would they be? Thanks.

Best centre to come back to each day? Posted: Fri September 22, 2006 09:36 PM UTC
We want to explore Provence (something I did over 30 years ago). Lots of places to see (for me to re-visit) but for night-life - and a really good base
to return to after days out - Avignon? Aix? Arles? Or none of these?
Advice please.

Questions about Avignon Posted: Sat September 9, 2006 05:13 AM UTC
I'd like to ask some advice on Avignon.
If you had only 2 days to see Avigno, what would be the highlights to visit for those 2 days?
Would it be advisable to go on foot? I've read many comments that Avignon can be a bit hilly so taking this tram would be best?
Can anyone tell more about this electric train/tram? How much would it costs?
Is there a cheaper day pass?
What area/district has the best choice of budget hotels? I am talking in the area of 80 Euro below per night for a double room with private shower.
Does anyone recommend a good day trip near Avignon which is worth visiting?
Thank you all for your help!

Avignon by Air - looking for company Posted: Fri September 8, 2006 10:25 AM UTC
Hi! I'm planning to take a airplane tour during my stay in Avignon. The problem is, that i'm travelling alone, and for one person it's quite expensive. If somebody who will be in Avignon (from 9 to 14th October) wants to make the same excursion - that would be great. Much cheaper!!!

We will be staying in the Luberon soon! Could anyone tell me what the driving distance is from Avignon to Carcassone? If it would be more practical,
would we be better off to make it a day trip on the train? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Kyriad Avignon Palais des Papes Posted: Sat February 4, 2006 11:13 PM UTC
Has anyone had any experience with this hotel? I am planning to spend 4 nights in either Avignon or Arles with a rental car to visit other towns. I have made reservations at the Kryiad Avignon for 26 June through 30 June.
I'd like to get some hotel opinions and also points of interest. I'd also like to get opinions on which town is best to stay in, Avignon or Arles.
Thanks.

My girlfriend and I are going to arrive in Nice on Sep 3 and then plan to visit French Riviera (Nice, Monaco, Provence, Cannes, St Tropez)and then onto Cinque Terre. We will rent car and drive. Need to be back in Nice on Sep 11.
I would appreciate any suggestions on an itinerary, hotels, restaurants, places to see/things to do, and any other good advice you have to offer.
