Mazatlán Airport taxis
Posted: Fri October 23, 2009 04:58 PM UTC
Every year we take a King David bus to the Golden Zone when we arrive at the airport from Chicago for Christmas and New Years. I do not enjoy the half hour wait, then hour plus ride stopping at all the other resorts...for the 5th time! If I want to see other resorts, I will let someone pay me $250 with a free breakfast! About how much are the taxis? We have 4 adults, less than average luggage amounts (laundry service is soooo cheap) and a wheelchair, so not sure if a single taxi would work. Any ideas?

Estado de Sinaloa Hiking in Sinaloa within short travle to Mazatlan
Posted: Tue September 1, 2009 02:46 PM UTC
I would like to spend a night or two someplace near Mazatlan, or maybe even do a long day trip, where I could get up in the mountains and do some hiking. Anything from a short day hike, to a couple day trek would be great. Anyone know anyplace with good trails or backroad walking? Any nice little villages to spend the night?

On google maps I see a Aserradero Parque Natural that is west of El Salto, would that be an option? I can't find any information on it.

Thanks!

Mazatlán Transport from Airport to hotel after 6:00 pm?
Posted: Sun March 15, 2009 03:41 PM UTC
My sister arrives in Mazatlan at 7:40pm on Monday night, and was trying to make a reservation with a shuttle service to pick her up and take her to her hotel. Unfortunately, most shuttle services will not pick people up from the airport after 6:00pm!

Does anyone know if there is some sort of shuttle service available from the airport after 6:00pm? If so, what is it called, and could she take it without having a prior reservation? Also, the cost, por favor! Or are taxis the only way that time of night? If so, what she should expect to pay to get to the malecon area?

Thanks for your help.

We want to ride in a Pulmonia but do not know how much to offer. We dont want to be cheap about it but neither do we want to get ripped off. How much should a ride from the port to downtown be?

Mazatlán Worried Parent

We are taking our family on a vacation to Mazatlan in Febuary 2009. My mother in law informed me that there is a lot of bad things going on in Mazatlan. We are American and I heard that Americans are being kidnapped? Should I be concerned for our safety?

Mazatlán Looking for Azteca jewelry store in Golden Zone
Posted: Tue November 25, 2008 06:41 PM UTC
Hi, my name is Dana and I'm hoping that someone can help me. Last month (Oct. '08) my boyfriend and I visited Mazatlan briefly when our ship docked in port. We went to the Golden Zone and visited a nice jewelry store, which I believe was called Azteca. It stood out because it had a very interesting, ornate-looking storefront. Inside, I tried on some beautiful tanzanite rings, but didn't buy one. Since that time, my boyfriend and I have talked about getting engaged, and I can't find any tanzanite rings on the internet that are as beautiful as the ones I saw in that store. I've tried finding the store on the internet, but to no avail. Is anyone familiar with this jewelry/art store? If so, could you please email me the website or phone number? Many thanks! Dana

Mazatlán Location of Mayan Sea Garden RCI
Posted: Sat June 7, 2008 09:15 AM UTC
I will be staying at the Sea Garden over New Year. I have been trying to find a map with its location on, with great difficulty. I understand it's "10 minutes north" of the gold zone. Does anyone have any idea where it is and where there is a map on the web

Also, what is the weather like at New Year, and what can we expect there then.

Mazatlán Christmas in Mazatlan
Posted: Tue June 3, 2008 06:17 PM UTC
We are planning to be in Mazatlan at Christmas. Does anyone have suggestions about what a family can do on Christmas Eve? Are most restaurants open? What about Catholic church services? Are there any children's events?
When we were in Mexico City at Christmas, there were many carnival-like booths in the park and many people out with their families and having their pictures taken during the early evening on Christmas Eve.
Does Mazatlan have anything like this? Also, are there posadas or Christmas plays during the week before Christmas? We will have our children and grandchildren with us and would appreciate any information or suggestions.
Thanks so much!

Mazatlán Guaymas to Bahai de Kino
Posted: Sat March 15, 2008 11:41 PM UTC
We would like to have a look at Bahia Kino on our way north from Guaymas.

Should we drive from Guaymas to Hermosillo on Highway 15, and then west on Highway 16 to Kino? I realize that this is the long route.

Or has anyone driven on on Highway 15 to Highway 24, northwest on 24, up to 16, and then west on to Kino? What is the condition of Highways 24 and 16?

Thanks for any information you can give us.

Mazatlán Car rental in Mazatlan
Posted: Wed March 12, 2008 04:33 PM UTC
We are interested in renting a car in mid-June in order to get ourselves and some personal items to the Guadalajara/Lake Chapala area for a few months.

Ultimately, we would really like to just rent the car one-way and drop it off at Guadalajara airport, but it seems that there is usually a very expensive drop-off fee.

Has anyone had any experiences with rental companies here in Mazatlan, any recommendations on the best company to use, or best way to go about renting here in Mexico, also the drop-off issue?

Thanks,
Anne

Mazatlán Mazatlan to Copper Canyon
Posted: Sat January 19, 2008 02:35 AM UTC
I would like to know if anyone has done a trip from Mazatlan to the Copper Canyon on their own, without a tour group. If so, please could you give me any info on transportation between Mazatlan and either Los Mochis or El Fuerte, hotels in El Fuerte, hotels near to Divisadero and in Creel.

Also, is early October a good time for touring the area...we won't be taking any trips down into the bottom of the canyon.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
