Shopping in Bayeux Posted: Wed August 5, 2009 11:03 PM UTC
Hi Everyone,
We will be in Bayeux on a Friday and Saturday. We will be taking the World War II Victory tour on Friday and planning to spend Saturday walking around Bayeux. When is the market on Saturday? Are most stores open? Thank you. Gladys

Sunday openings Posted: Wed July 29, 2009 02:43 AM UTC
We will be arriving in Paris (CDG) on Saturday morning 8/8/09, and want to go to Normandie. Any hints on the best way to get there and where to stay for about 40-50 euro? We posted on the Caen forum to ask if the museum & memorials are open on Sundays. We read there are no tours on Sundays, is this true? Normally don't do tours but think we won't be able to figure out what & where things happened. tour recommendations. Is rental car necessary. What auto rental is most econmical? We would really appreciate any feedback and your time in responding. again thanks in advance

Art to see (other than the tapestry) and budget meals Posted: Sat July 19, 2008 09:25 PM UTC
We will be in Bayeux in November, primarily to see the tapestry. Other than the cathedral, does anyone have advice for other artworks or buildings to see? We are not interested in WWII history, and we won't be using a car. Also enjoys classical/vocal music.
Also, please advise me on places to eat on a budget: meals under 15 euro, markets or grocieries, bakeries, etc.
Thanks!

Bayeux SNCF Station to Novotel Posted: Sun August 12, 2007 09:52 PM UTC
Hi/Salut
I'm coming to Bayeux later this week and I literally have just an afternoon and a morning to see the sights.
The tapestry and cathedral are musts of course but is there anywhere else I should see and do. I'll be on foot.
Any recommendations for lunch?
CAnd finally, could anyone tell me how long it would take to walk from the Gare SNCF to the Novotel on the rue Saint Patrice.
Many thanks

Bayeux car parking? Posted: Fri May 4, 2007 03:41 AM UTC
In Bayeux I will visit the cathedral and the tapestry. I would like to know where in town to look for nearby car parking - I assume that tour buses park somewhere near these sites. Would anyone where I could research Bayeux car parking, instead of driving around town once I’m there? Thanks in advance.

From Bayeux to Omaha Beach Posted: Fri December 15, 2006 04:42 PM UTC
I have figured out the train travel from Paris to Bayeux, but how to get to the beach, and American Cemetery near by? Is there no bus service? Car rental or taxi?
My wife and I are traveling to Paris in March of 2007 and as a side trip I'd really like to see the site of the Normandy invasion and American Cemetery.
Thanks,
AB

I would liek to travel by train brom Charles de Gualle airport to Bayeux by train and was wondering how to get to Paris St Lazare station from the airport? How much time would you allow? Lastly, since we will be traveling with 2 large suitcases, is there a way to acommodate those bags on the train if buying a 2nd class ticket? Thanks.

Taxi on a Sunday??? Posted: Mon May 22, 2006 01:44 PM UTC
Hi everyone, I've just read the posting advising that taxis are difficult to come by after 5pm. I'll be arriving on a Sunday at 6pm (trust me to get the plans so wrong) with my mother (who does not walk very well) and am trying to get a taxi to take me to the Campanile hotel. Is it going to be a nightmare trying to get a taxi or is it near enough to walk does anyone know??? Much appreciation in advance for any help you can offer.

hotel Posted: Mon August 22, 2005 07:32 PM UTC
Will be traveling from Belguim to France to tour Juno and Omaha beach. Most tours depart from this town, can anyone recomend a nice hotel, clean, central and not to much money. Also how busy is it the first 2 weeks of Sept. Will I have trouble getting a reservation for a few nights midweek. Any other suggestion would be great. Also we will travel by train, is the station right downtown.?? Thank you

Restaurant Recommendations Posted: Wed August 10, 2005 06:49 PM UTC
We're taking a friend to Normandy in September and staying in a gite about 10kms east of Bayeux.
The last time we were there, in 2001, we found some decent restaurants, but also found some stinkers.
Can anyone recommend some good restaurants in the vicinity of Bayeux?
Thanks!!
