Nuevo Progreso As of March 2009, is it still safe for two women to travel to Progresso?
Posted: Wed March 4, 2009 05:55 PM UTC
My 50 year old wife and 21 year old daughter are planning to make a day trip to Progresso in Mid March. They have done this over the years with no problems, however with the current State Department warnings about Border town security, I want to be sure that the Progesso area is still safe. I've been searching online today and can only find articles that are two or more years old. Does anyone know if as of 2009, it is still safe for seniors and women to travel to the border town of Progresso? Thank you!

Tampico tampico to aquismon, mexico - sotano de las golondrinas, tamul falls
Posted: Sun June 1, 2008 12:29 PM UTC
does anyone have any info on visiting this town/site??? i will be in tampico, mexico for a month and i know aquismon, tamul falls and sotano is close to ciudad valles.

i can easily catch a bus to ciudad valles but from there, is there any public transportation to aquismon?? how long? how much?? what about accomodations? i am used to tuk-tuks and collectivos if similar modes of transport are cheap options, and camping or hostel like atmospheres are an option too.

and from aquismon...whats the transport options to sotanos and the tamul falls? again, how much is a reasonable price? i'll have a buddy with me too.

also i can get by with very basic spanish, and i always pass for a local if i don't open my american accented mouth.

thanks in advance.

Mérida Traffic in Mexico
Posted: Thu February 28, 2008 10:40 PM UTC
Due to some warnings on the net I'm a bit scared about Mexican traffic, as I'm planning to go by hired car.
I'm used to (Central)-European traffic circumstances, so do you think I'll get problems? What about the traffic volume in general and the condition of the streets? Is there a high risk of getting involved in accidents? Are the Mexican drivers rather courteous than reckless or vice versa?

PS: I know, I'm asking a lot during the last couple of days, but its due the lack of time caused by special circumstances. normally I plan my trips far more carfefully. So thank you all for your answers!

Hello everyone,

I will be flying into Merida in mid-December and have one week before I need to arrive in Oaxaca. I'd love any advice on making the trip (by bus) from Merida to Oaxaca. Also, I'm hoping to spend a few days in the Biosfera de Calakmul and would appreciate any advice on getting there and away.

Thanks so much!
