Estado de Chihuahua old lady on a the Chepe?
Posted: Fri August 7, 2009 05:37 AM UTC
My mom is 83 yrs old and is considering the 17 hr train trip from the port where her cruise ship is docking. I understand that the tourist train is "upscale". I'm wondering how smooth the tracks are and if an old lady could walk easily on the train. Also, once at the copper canyon, is there anything besides the hiking that would entertain her while my more fit father is hiking? I know that she would love the scenery (the pictures are beautiful)but I don't want her to get hurt on this trip.
Thanks for your help,
Nancy

Estado de Chihuahua How do I get to central camionera (bus central) in Cd. Juarez from the Abraham Lincoln ave.?
Posted: Mon March 3, 2008 02:59 PM UTC
Does anyone have a number to the central caminera or the address to it? I will be traveling south by bus, but someone is dropping me off and we don't know how to get there... The Hotel is roughly around Abraham Lincoln ave. right off the bridge. Also, i tried that web page for Omnibus de Mexico and it doesn't work for some reason. i'll try it again later. There is a list of selling posts or agencies, but I'm not sure that's where the bus central is... thanks

Estado de Chihuahua Bus from Chihuahua to Leon
Posted: Thu January 17, 2008 09:50 PM UTC
We are wanting to travel from Chihuahua by bus but unfortunately our date of travel is Sunday 23rd March, which is Easter Sunday. Would that be a problem, are buses likely to be operating? I realise Omnibus de Mexico do this trip, but the timetable for March is not on the website. Also for other months there are many options, does anyone know the easiest and most direct timings? If we have to stay a night in Chihuahua any suggestions of clean safe and not too expensive hotels.
Many thanks Margaret UK

Estado de Chihuahua Flying to Chihuahua, getting Chepe to Divisadero and back to Creel
Posted: Sat January 5, 2008 06:36 PM UTC
Hi everyone

Just wondering if you have any tips on the following proposed journey

Day 1 - Fly from Merida to Mexico City then on to Chihuahua (seems you have to go via Mexico City to get to Chihuahua). We'd arrive around 10pm and would need to be at the train station at either 6am (1st class) or 7am (2nd class) the next morning to get the Chepe.

Does anyone know what hotel would be our best bet given such a late arrival and early start? I've searched in vain on the net for a map of Chihuahua city to get an idea of how far the airport, city hotels and train station are apart.

We then get the Chepe the next day, stop off in Divisadero for a while to look around (time is limited) then get train back to Creel that afternoon.

Third day to be spent in Creel, maybe get a guided trip around the area. Then we fly back to Mexico City on the fourth day.

We're not sure how practical some of this is but particularly the late arrival in Chihuahua and early start the following morning, and don't want to find ourselves lost late at night not knowing the area.

Thanks!

Estado de Chihuahua Driving from Cd.Juarez to Los Mochis?
Posted: Thu July 12, 2007 05:16 AM UTC
Hi Folks!
I live north of Juarez in southern New Mexico and usually drive to Puerto Penasco or San Carlos on vacation. We have been thinking about trying something different, perhaps driving to Los Mochis/Topolobambo through Cd. Chihuahua if it's not too difficult.
We have never seen that part of Mexico, Copper Canyon, etc., and would like to visit there and then spend a few days on the beach.
Can someone advise on the best roads to take,time/mileage etc?
Thanks!

Estado de Chihuahua Chihuahua to Phoenix
Posted: Wed September 13, 2006 06:27 AM UTC
I wonder if anyone can help me decide how best to get to Phoenix, Arizona, after my CHEPE train ride ends in Chihuahua. Should I take the bus to Ciudad Juarez or Nogales? Any Mexican bus to Tucson or Phoenix besides Greyhound?

I'm trying for the most economical and safe way to get to Phoenix from Chihuahua.
Thanks.

Can you walk across the border? Is there a way to get around once you are over there. We will be in the Big Bend area in November and thought about swinging down to Presidio and checking out Ojinaga.

Juárez Nice neighborhoods in Juarez.
Posted: Sun February 12, 2006 09:10 PM UTC
I'll be in Juarez for a few days in early March for a little vacation and to do some research for school. I've heard that the area around Ave. 16 de Septiembre east of the Palacio Municpial is one of the nicer parts of the city. I'm looking for an area that is kind of trendy, with sidewalk cafes, restuarants, and maybe a few drinking holes.

Any suggestions at all? Thank you,

Bryant

Estado de Chihuahua Bus to Corona Rally Mexico (Guanajuato)
Posted: Thu February 9, 2006 12:52 AM UTC
We are heading from Ciudad Juarez to Leon and Guanajuato for Corona Rally Mexico, and are trying to get bus information. I've taken the bus from CJ to DF before (after missing the train... fun!), but I can't find a schedule anywhere on buses to Guanajuato from CJ. Estrella Blanca and Omnibus de Mexico appear to offer this route, but their website horarios/destinos pages are not functional, and I'm just not sure. CJ's Camionera Central doesn't seem to have a phone number...

Any suggestions? (Any tips on great restaurants/cafes/art-stuff in Gto or Leon would also be greatly appreciated, too)

Thank you!

Hi,
We are leaving for the mainland of Mexico the end of this month -- with a small travel trailer. One of our destinations will be Creel and if possible, we would like to leave our trailer there and drive down to Batopilas.

Has anyone done this drive recently and if so, how was the road etc. ? Any advice will be appreciated.

Estado de Chihuahua Bus south from Cd. Juarez
Posted: Tue July 6, 2004 09:51 AM UTC
Hello,
Has anyone travelled south from Cd. Juarez by bus? I am interested in recommendations for getting from C.J. down to Zacatecas or Guanajuato, breaking the trip into two or three days. Does anyone know how long it takes to get all the way to Zacatecas, or where would be a good place to break the trip in half overnight? I am also concerned to travel only during daylight, so if I am going to stop in a town, I want to be sure it has a bus leaving during the day! Thanks,
