Distrito Federal Mexicana Air, Terminal 1 1or 2? where can I get terminal map?
Posted: Thu July 10, 2008 02:16 PM UTC
Hello, which airport does Mexicana Airlines use? Will be arriving July 19 from Vancouver and our booking sheet just says Juarez Intl Airport. I know that Aeromexico uses the new terminal 2. But there's no mention of where Mexicana lands. Help please.

Would also appreciate knowing what website I can access to get a terminal map so we don't look too "lost" when we get there. thanks in advance

I am going to have a 9 hour overnight layover in Mexico City . . would it be worth it/safe enough to venture out and explore for a little bit, or would it just be best to stay in the airport?

Mexico City Mexico City - Middle Class
Posted: Wed April 30, 2008 02:05 PM UTC
Hola,

I will be visiting Mexico City to attend a photojournalism workshop June 15-22. Having done some research the middle class seems to be growing in Mexico City, people that have own their homes, have a car, access to credit, can afford to raise a family, and have a few pesos left over, etc.

For the workshop we have to come up with an idea for a story that we want to tell through pictures. I think enough has been focused on street kids and drug gangs. Maybe they are more hardcore, but I would like to focus on something positive and that most people in the US are not aware of.

I am hoping to find a typical Mexico City middle class family that would let me into their world to see how they live, for a few days. Of course I have a hotel and it would not be 24x7 as I'll be spending much of the time in the class room, too.

If you know of a family that you think would like to participate in the project, or if you fit the bill, I would love to hear from you. Or if you have any suggestions for other photojournalism projects. I would be glad to provide the participant with a DVD of fantastic image of their family and their life, free of charge.

Gracias,

Douglas

Mexico City Affordable Hotels with A/C
Posted: Sat April 26, 2008 02:27 AM UTC
Hola,

I'll be visiting Mexico City June 15-22 and I'm looking for an affordable hotel close to Rio Sena, Zona Rosa area I guess. I would like to find a place for $50 or less for a single room, but few in that range seem to offer air conditioning (which is a must for me). Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Mexico City flying to mexico city
Posted: Fri April 25, 2008 10:54 PM UTC
I am flying to mexico city in July, and travelling, probably by bus, to Torreon. My plane arrives at midnight. I am trying to decide whether I should hang in the airport and catch the 7 a.m. bus to Queretaro, and there catch a bus to Torreon, or take a taxi to Terminal Norte and catch a northbound bus from there. I am meeting people, and have no desire on this trip to spend any more time than is necessary in Mexico city. If I do go to terminal Norte, what are my chances of getting a bus in the middle of the night? It seems difficult to find online schedules. If I end up sitting on a bench at either the airport or the bus terminal until morning, which of those two places would be preferable? Is there a restaurant open all night at either place?

I am planning to go to the contemporary art show in D.F. i the end of April. It is being held in Residential Palmas Park - Lomas del Chapultepec.I believe the address is 515 Av. Palmas. How can I get there from the Zona Rosa by bus, mini bus or and metro?

Is there a Mexico City goverment tourist office? The office at the corner of Ambres and something has been closed for several years. I once was directed to an office in Polaco, but that was difficult to visit. thanks

Posted: Thu March 20, 2008 11:43 AM UTC
Hi,

I am planning to visit Mexico and Guatemala between April 26-May 17, 2008, and I am looking for the information whether I can obtain a Guatemalan visa in Mexico (we don't have one in Kyiv, and going to Moscow is too much of a hassle).

can someone help me with the following info:

- will the Guatemalan embassy issue a visa to a Ukrainian citizen while she is in Mexico City? if yes, what documents are required; how long will it take to process a visa; and how much it costs;

or if it's too much trouble, can someone varify the embassy's address and contact info (especially e-mail since it bounced back)

Embassy of Guatemala in Mexico D.F., Mexico

Mexico City Zocalo to Sante Fe terminal
Posted: Wed March 12, 2008 11:04 AM UTC
My wife, daughter and I will be in the city for 3 days on the first week of May, after which we proceed to Merida. Since we'll fly Volaris, we'd have to get to the Sante Fe bus terminal to avail of the airline's free shuttle service to bring us to the Tolusa airport. May I know how much taxi fare and tip it would cost to get to the terminal from the zocalo? I know we shouldn't use the green VW ones (the 3 of us plus our bags won't fit anyway) so is there any particular taxi we should get? I read that there are 'sitio' taxis and 'turista' taxis...any difference?

Finally, I read that Volaris is a fairly new airline. Anything about it that I should know, good or bad?

Thanks for your comments!

Mexico City Condesa
Posted: Tue March 11, 2008 01:11 AM UTC
I have found a great guest house to stay at in the Condesa neighborhood of Mexico City. Would this area be convenient to sightsee, and a pleasant place to stay? We plan to probably just see a few museums as we would only be staying a few days, and hang out. Also, I've read this is a safe and hip area, called the "Soho" of Mexico City. I'm hoping my fellow VT'ers familiar with Mexico City can give me further advice or opinions of this area, or are we better off staying somewhere else. Thanks!

Mexico City Advice on Hotels in Mexico City
Posted: Sun March 2, 2008 05:36 PM UTC
Hi all:
Hoping I can get some quick advice on several hotels that we're looking at in Mexico City for a trip in a couple of months.
My wife and I are interested in finding a nice hotel under $100 located in an area central to museums and downtown historic sites. Ideally, it would also be located in an area near reasonably priced places to get breakfeast and dinner.
Here are the three hotels we've been looking at:
-- Hotel Imperial: Paseo de la Reforma 64. Occupies a stately late-19th-century clean white building with a corner cupola right on the Reforma alongside the Columbus Monument.
-- Maria Christina: Río Lerma 31. The hotel is at Río Neva, on the north side of Reforma. In a quiet residential setting near Parque Sullivan, the hotel is close to the Zona Rosa.
-- Marco Polo: Amberes 27. North-facing top-floor rooms have excellent views of Paseo de la Reforma and the Angel Monument, and the U.S. Embassy is close by.
We've heard some mixed things about tackiness, noise and loud nightlife in the Zona Rosa area, so that is a slight concern. But the locations of the three hotels seem more central to what we're hoping to accomplish over five days than hotels in the Centro Historico area.
Greatly appreciate any and all advice on these hotels -- or one that we may have overlooked!
