Metro Trip Times? Posted: Wed September 23, 2009 07:27 PM UTC
Hello All -
Does anyone know of a website that gives estimated times for station to station trips on the Mexico City metro? I looked on the Metro website but did not see any such information.
Or, if you happen to know the approximate time it takes to go from Hidalgo Station (or Bellas Artes, Allende, or Zocalo) to Tasquena station, I would greatly appreciate it.
I am planning a bus trip to Taxco early one morning and want to know how much time to allocate for the metro trip (plus some extra time). Since it is early in the morning, I don't want to wake earlier than I must ;-)
Thank you!

Family travel Posted: Mon September 21, 2009 10:36 PM UTC
Are there any self-contained resort type facilities within easy reach of Mexico City? We are going with a group of 11 including five kids from 9-16 years old. We would like place where are choices of eateries, possibly activites and pools, and possibly an overall fee much like the resorts in vacation areas. My Spanish is good so we don't need help for the actual travel and I am quite familiar with the city and the area. We hope to rent a van and just mosey around from place to place. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Looking for great dining in the DF Posted: Sun September 20, 2009 02:57 PM UTC
I have finally planned my trip to DF in early November. Although all my family and friends think I'm nuts, I'm really looking forward to visiting the City. Apparently they think every Americano will be robbed, kidnapped or shot immediately upon arrival in Mexico. Aren't vacations supposed to be an adventure?
Anyway, I love great food and one of my favorite trips was to PV where I sampled all the great restaurants there. My question is if anyone can point me in the direction of similar great dining in the City? This is my once-a-year splurge and spending $100 a night is not out of the question.
I like French, nouvelle cuisine or anything truly outstanding.
I am travelling alone and staying at the Red Tree House in Hipodromo near the Parque Mexico.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Trips around Mexico city Posted: Fri September 18, 2009 02:53 AM UTC
We are going to be in Mexico City for 7 days and wanted to take short trips outside the city. Our plan is to go to Puebla, Teotihuacan. Question is between Chotula, Cuernavaca, or Cueztalan- which destination should be picked?

Reliable taxis from airport Posted: Thu September 3, 2009 06:48 PM UTC
Buenas!
I am flying into Mexico City. I have heard that only authorised taxi companies with booths in the Terminals should be used. I am planning to arrive in Terminal 1 via United Airlines from San Francisco.
1. Should I book a taxi in advance of my arrival or can I just walk up to a booth and arrange for one upon arrival?
2. Which taxi company has anyone had experience with and about how much should it cost to go to the center of the city (near Reforma)?
Gracias!

Airport hotel Posted: Sun August 16, 2009 03:15 PM UTC
Hi there,
I will be arriving in mexico city end of this week around 19.00 o clock. My next flight will be departing the next morning at six, thus I'm looking for a place to stay overnight very near mexico airport.
My budget does not even come close to Holiday Inn.. does anyone know a cheaper backpackers hostel/cheap hotel near the airport? It only needs to have a good bed, I'm happy.
Thanks for your help!
Saludos, Moniek

Wedding Posted: Sun August 16, 2009 03:04 PM UTC
My boyfriend and I would love to get married in Mexico DF in March next year. We understand all the rules about translation of our UK documents, the health checks we need to complete - but cannot find out how to book the registry office for the service in DF!
Can anyone point me in the right direction please? My Spanish is fairly limited (but getting better - honest!) so would like to either write and call a person that could understand English in the first instance please.
I have tried the Mexican Embassy in London but they have given me the email address of Mex DF govenerment building. Sent them an email but had no reply (4 weeks ago!)
Please help to make this dream come true
Many thanks in advance x

Condesa Hotels Posted: Tue June 23, 2009 09:49 PM UTC
I have been to Df many many times and usually stay in Centro Historico, but, my next trip is with my fiance and would like to stay in Condesa if it is possible. OK, here is the rub.. I usually stay on Cinco de Mayo or at the Isabel for us30 a night.. is there anything in that range in Condesa? We are going to be travelling for a month so the budget is a little tight.. I would consider Roma also.. I don't know the Napoles area.. Coyoacan would be fine as well though a lot less convenient.

Hotel Aeropuerto? Posted: Wed April 29, 2009 04:05 PM UTC
Hola,
I will have an over-night layover in Mexico shortly, and have received conflicting information from Mexicana. Do I HAVE TO pickup my luggage after arriving, or will it be checked to my final destination? If I do pick it up, where exactly can I store it at the airport? I was told that the Hotel Aeropuerto is a "short" walk away, but, I found TWO hotels with a similiar name. Can anyone give me some current info about the Hotel Aeropuerto at Blvd. Aeropuerto 380? Any tips would be appreciated! Mil gracias for the help!

7 hours in transfer at Mexico city Posted: Tue March 17, 2009 08:15 AM UTC
Hi,
Next month I will have a 7.5hr wait in Mexico city airport(In transfer so would be airside) and I wondered if anyone could give me an idea of whether this is enough time to leave the airport to have a quick look around (say 5 hours to be on the safe side)
I will have been staying in mexico for 2 weeks prior to this flight so prosume that I should not have a problem leaving the airport as I would have already completed the immagration forms to enter originally but again not sure how it works there.
Thanks inadvance.

holiday value Posted: Tue February 17, 2009 05:35 AM UTC
would i be correct in this theory. i am an australian who is planning a trip this year to mexico city. being that the australian dollar is so weak compared to the american dollar would i be correct to assume that i would save on a trip to mexico based on the fact that most things are quite cheaper in mexico. ie accommodation, car rental, dining etc. so what i would lose on the exchange rate would pick up on the costs of above, is there anyone who can give me an idea whether my theory is correct
thanking you henry

Autobuses: "UNO" or "ADO GL" ? Posted: Sat January 24, 2009 06:46 PM UTC
Hi there, Hola!
I'm thinking about taking an overnight bus from Mexico City to Villahermosa (to get to Palenque).
Estaba considerando tomar un autobus nocturno de Mexico City a Villahermosa (para llegar a Palenque)
Is UNO better than ADO GL? ADO GL is 876 pesos, and UNO is 1176 pesos, so the difference is not too bad if UNO is much better than ADO GL. Your experiences?
Es la compania UNO mejor de ADO GL? ADO GL cuesta 876 pesos, mientras que UNO es un poco mas caro, 1176. Vale la pena gastar un poquito mas en UNO? Tus experiencias?
Also is Villahermosa a good choice for using as base to going to Palenque, or do you recommend another city that I can take a bus from Mexico City for? I was also hoping to spend the night somewhere there and see the light show.
Ademas es Villahermosa una buena opcion para visitar Palenque, or recomiendas otra ciudad a la cual puedo tomar un colectivo nocturno desde Mexico City? Estaba pensando en quedarme la noche ahi y ver el show the luces a la noche.
Thank you! Gracias!

Hi there,
I am thinking about going from Mexico City to Cancun in about four days. I was thinking about doing possibly Puebla, Palenque and Chichén-Itzá as stops. Any other places where you would stop? thanks!

Mexico City Loop - 10 days (Taxco, Zihua, Valle de Bravo) or else? Posted: Fri January 16, 2009 08:43 PM UTC
Hi, we are planning our trip to Mexico (starting from Mexico City) in March and would like to see if anybody could tell me if what we planned was the best course to pick or if other route would be more suitable. We are planning on spending two or so days in Mexico City itself, renting a car and heading for Taxco - spending day maybe two there head for the coast to Zihua with visit to Ixtapa - and maybe the island - all togehter 4 days and then up to Valle de Bravo for a day and finish it off in Mexico City.
Would different route be better? Are we missing out on anything? Any advice is appreciated. Also any suggestions on where to stay in Mexico City?
Thank you.

Mexico city 3 days in dec Posted: Sat December 6, 2008 04:10 PM UTC
A friend of mine and I will be going to Mexico City on the 25th for 3 days. We just want to get to know culture, talk to people, learn few Spanish words, and do some sight seeing. We just want to get away for couple of days and enjoy a different country. Any advice on a reasonable hotel in a common area close to city and major tourist destinations? Any places that we must see, visit or experience?
I will post other questions soon but for now how to get to the city from the airport? Taxi or bus, and how much?
Thanks for the help

Mexico City Marriott Hotels Posted: Tue December 2, 2008 12:56 AM UTC
I will be traveling to Mexico City on business sometime in January. I prefer to stay at Marriott hotels (rewards program). Initially, I was planning on staying at the JW but with the recent downtun, the company may frown on the $400 per night rate. As an alternative, I was thinking of the Marriott Reforma. Can anyone give me the pro's/con's of each hotel? Really looking for a description of the area and safety issues.

Christmas/New Year in Mexico City Posted: Sun November 23, 2008 12:51 PM UTC
Hi,
I am planning to visit Mexico from Dec 20th - Jan 2nd and wondering if there are things to do in Mexico city during Christmas.
We are thinking of splitting the time between Mexico city and either Puerto Vallarta or Cabo.
How easy it is to find domestic air in Mexico? Can we book it from here or is it better to get it locally?
And since yesterday, I am thinking of taking the train ride in Copper Canyon (either from Chihuahua or Los Mochis)
All info are highly appreciated!

Trip to Mexico City and Pyramids near the place Posted: Fri November 21, 2008 05:02 PM UTC
I currently reside in Malvern, PA. I am looking for some good package deals to Mexico City and the pyramids near the place. Package to include airport transfers, stay and sight-seeing in and around the place. If inclusive of Air fare that is also good for me. Taking a flight from Newark Airport, JFK Airport or Philadelphia International Airport is okay for me. Can anyone suggest websites and reliable tour operators whom I can depend on. It is very late, but thinking of making a trip during Thanks Giving Holidays. If not atleast during Christmas time.
