Mazatlán How to find best airfare
Posted: Sat March 15, 2008 06:34 PM UTC
I want to visit our son and family in Mazatlan, Mexico in April this year. I live and prefer to fly from Colorado Springs, CO but will consider Denver. Have been checking several discount websites and find all airfare to be over $550. Would like suggestions how I can reduce that price without spending 10-12 hours both ways.

Hello all, My husband & I will be Acapulco for one day, coming in via cruise ship. I was in Acapulco twenty years ago with girlfriends after graduating college and loved it. What should we do for the day?? I know we must see the cliff divers, but the ship will be in port from 10:00 am to 1:00am. He loves the water, I love the beach any suggestions would be great. Thanks Ginny

Zihuatanejo Zihuatanejo
Posted: Thu November 15, 2007 12:27 AM UTC
Someone brought my attention to Zihuatanejo while discussing places we had rented
for 3-4 months in Mexico.. I am looking for a relatively inexpensive apartment or small house with 2 bedrooms, fully furnished for 2009 (Jan. Feb.Mar.April) I do not want to pay more than $500.00 per month. I am retired with only a small pension...I love to visit the markets and cook my own meals..also enjoy practicing my spanish with the locals...No need for a lot of entertainment.
Am I dreaming ? If so, perhaps there might be an alternate location that would suit my budget. Anyone with info would be much appreciated...

Acapulco city tours from the cruise terminal
Posted: Mon November 5, 2007 08:14 PM UTC
I'm going to be in Acapulco for an afternoon and evening, arriving at noon on a cruise ship. My mother wants to take a city tour that includes the cliff divers. My sister is phobic about not booking it through the cruise line because she doesn't want to overpay. I've heard about someone called Rosie, but I can't find any contact info for her on the internet. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Zihuatanejo Is there a safe and cheap bus from Mexico City to Zihuatanejo ?
Posted: Thu November 1, 2007 02:07 AM UTC
I was wondering if there is such a thing as safe cheap bus transportation from mexico city to zihuatanejo? From what I have seen the first class buses are like $400 US dollars. If anyone knows if there is a cheaper bus line that runs that is safe I would love to hear aobut it. And if you have any Idea as to the schedule is or how to obtain it that would be nice as well.

Thank you soooo much!

Acapulco Currency in Acapulco
Posted: Wed October 24, 2007 11:31 AM UTC
We've been to Mexico before and never had to worry about local currency - dollars have sufficed. Is this also true for Acapulco? We will only be there a day before boarding a cruise-ship. Thanks.

Acapulco Confusing... Please Help
Posted: Tue October 2, 2007 01:57 AM UTC
I've read a few reviews and I am seeing quite a bit more so-so reviews than I expected. I'm a corporate pilot and we're going to Acapulco on Oct 18 for 3 nights. Looking for something close to a happening club, nice hotel with a view and a balcony, not outrageous expensive, and with a fantastic pool. Any recommendations? Thank you!

Acapulco Gay acapulco?
Posted: Tue August 28, 2007 01:38 AM UTC
My friend and I visited Puerto Vallarta last year and had a blast.

Would like to visit somewhere else in Mexico.

Anyone think Acapulco is worth a visit?

We're looking for something less American touristy, with a nice Mexican vibe, not too pricey, but still safe and fun.

Thanks in advance.

Hi!

Any suggestions about snorkling in Zihuatanejo? I saw a suggestion online about off of las Gatas Beach. Is it safe to do just by yourself? Where to go?
Thanks!

Ixtapa Dolfin encounter
Posted: Tue August 14, 2007 09:32 PM UTC
Hi!

Anyone do the Dolfin encounter? It seems like a great thing to do in Ixtapa because it is much cheaper than in San Diego,California for example.

Are reservations needed? What's the best way to get there from Zihuatanejo? We don't have a car.

Thanks!

I'm actually going to Zihuatanejo, not Ixtapa, but there is no forum for Zihuatanjeo.

What is tipping like, especially in a hotel? How much do you tip a made, a baggage carrier, etc Also, in a restaurant, if the tip is not included?

Thanks!

Hi guys! I googled but I just found buses from Cuernavaca to Zihua with Estrella de Oro. I wonder if there are buses directly from Taxco to Zihua. The webpage of the bus company wasn't helpful either.

Acapulco Cheap accommodation
Posted: Thu April 5, 2007 11:55 AM UTC
Hello,

I am going to Acapulco with a friend for a week in the end of May. Our budget is very limited so we are looking for something cheap but pleasant, with a shower ensuite and preferably with a refrigerator. I read about Villa Romana (Av. López Mateos 185), but it seems it is not possible to book it online. Does anyone know about some nice place for up to about 40 US dollars per room? No need to be in the touristic area.

Thank you,

Katya

Acapulco Aquarium
Posted: Mon March 26, 2007 06:57 PM UTC
We are cruising the Mexican Riveria with our two children, 12 and 13, as well as their grandparents. We have one day and evening in Acapulco, December 26th. I was wondering about the Waterpark/Aquarium since no one else appears to have mentioned it. I know by that point, they may be a bit exhausted of history, local shopping and "proper behavior". My idea was to do the waterpark early and then catch the cliff divers at sunset. Is this remotely a good idea? I also cannot find any prices for the waterpark. How crowded does it get? Any comments would be appreciated. From what I have heard Acapulco can be a bit intimidating when you first arrive with vendors and beggars and we want to have somewhat of a plan in place before arriving. Thanks.

Acapulco One Day in Acapulco
Posted: Mon January 29, 2007 01:47 PM UTC
Hi,
Will only be in Acapulco one day, departing a cruise ship, and leaving very early the next moring for a 7:00 am flight. I have been reading this forum and learned than the downtown (zocalo area) will be very close to the cruise ship.
Unfortunately, I'll have my luggage with me and won't be able to sightsee until I drop it at a hotel, but I'll probably want to head back to this area for the day.
Can anyone suggest a safe inexpensive hotel for the night, close enough for sightseeing and an early dinner (walking distance would be great, but not essential), but even more importantly, easy enough to get a cab at 5:00 am the next morning?
Probably should also ask if it is possible to reserve a taxi for that time, and how reliable that might be.
I am single, traveling solo, so safety is also of importance to me.
Thanks,
Jeana

Acapulco Acapulco first timer
Posted: Tue January 2, 2007 04:26 AM UTC
My husband and I are going on a trip to Acapulco, specifically staying in the Mayan Palace in a couple weeks. Does anyone know what the weather is like this time of year (January). And are there a lot of people visiting at this time of year? We don't want it to be too busy, but we also don't want to be the only ones at the hotel. Has anyone ever stayed at the Mayan Palace there? We will be staying a week so we'll have lots of time to do things, any suggestions? We have been to Puerto Vallarta/Nuevo Vallarta and Ixtapa in the past few years during Spring Break time and are used to that kind of atmosphere. Is it similar in Acapulco? Are there any negative things we should be aware of there? Thank you.
