Butterflies and water Posted: Sun January 28, 2007 10:35 PM UTC
I am writing an article about the monarchs - and am curious about the availability of water for the butterflies to drink. What is the name of any rivers, ponds or lakes that provide water for the butterflies? It is my understanding that the butterflies are most active in the cool early morning hours - do their wings really make a musical tone when they in large groups to drink water in the morning?
Any answers appreciated with thanks and blessings. William (email: williamemarks@aol.com)

Looking for excellent restaurant for group lunch Posted: Sun January 29, 2006 10:33 PM UTC
I would be very grateful for anyone's expert recommendation for a clean and pleasant restaurant in Angangueo to recommend to a group of Americans for lunch. It doesn't have to be luxurious - the group is just passing through, but it needs to be clean (by American standards) and optimally serve Mexican cuisine.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is march too late to watch the monarchs? Some say they are leaving beginning of march, some say end of march...Could anybody tell me if it really worth to go there middle of the month? We will have a car, is there anything else around to visit? We have only 4 days to spend in the area...Business travel break... Thanks and happy new year to all!!!

Day of the Dead in Patzcuaro, Mexico Posted: Tue August 16, 2005 03:00 PM UTC
Although the DOD celebration in Patzcuaro is no doubt much more commercial than in other locations, some friends and I are going there this year. In future years, I'd like to explore DOD in other Mexican towns, but for this year, I'd like to specifically find out how to best appreciate the celebration in Patzcuaro. We have what sounds like a nice place to stay (with reservations made last November!). Our hotel has offered to get us a taxi for the night of November 1st, so that we can go from one cemetery to another. If anyone has been to Patzcuaro recently for DOD, can you tell me if this is a good way to experience things, or should we do that for only a part of the night or not at all? What's your opinion, and what was your experience?

How far from Mexico City is Morelia? Posted: Mon July 5, 2004 04:31 PM UTC
I am planning a trip to Mexico in late August. The plan is to fly into MexCity, take a bus to Guadalajara, spend the night, take a bus to Puerto Vallarta, spend 6 nights, take bus to Morelia, spend one night, and then take a bus to Mexico city to fly out at 2pm. Is this a good plan? Is Morelia close enough to Mexico City to get a bus from Morelia in the morning and arrive on time for our flight out?

Morelia/Patzcuaro -- Dia de los Muertos Posted: Mon June 14, 2004 01:36 AM UTC
My partner's b'day is October 31st and I was thinking about taking him to Patzcuaro, and the surrounding villages. I have been to that region before, but many years ago and as a student... Finally to the quesiton -- for hotels I was thinking La Casa de Rosas in Michoacan and La Casa de los Suenos in Patzcuaro... any other suggestions or comments on these picks... Maybe something in Erongaricuaro?
Any suggesiton would be greately appreciated.

monarch butterflies during New Year Eve celebrations? Posted: Sun November 23, 2003 08:08 PM UTC
Thinking of going to Morelia for New Years ( have heard it's a beautiful colonial Spanish Baroque city) I'm also interested in seeing the monarch butterfly preserve which is about 2 hrs from Morelia. Have read the butterflies colonies are at their peak in February. Does anyone have any experience with the butterflies around new year's?
I was thinking about Gaudalarja for New Year's also - but I 'm gravitating towards something a bit less urban.
Any comments or thoughts appreciated.
