Trier Trier train station
Posted: Mon March 24, 2008 06:50 AM UTC
In April, I will be travelling via train from Oberwesel to Moselkern (my hotel is there), but I was thinking of taking the train all the way through to Trier to spend a couple of hours prowling over the roman ruins and then coming back the same day to Moselkern. Question: if I do this, does anyone know if the train station has luggage lockers or anywhere I can store my 2 bags safely for a couple of hours?

Trier Time for walking tour

We are older tourists (66 and 73). How long does it take to walk the entire route of tourist sites? We have artificial knee and hips. Should we take the little train?

Trier Food In Trier
Posted: Tue February 21, 2006 05:58 PM UTC
I'm hanging out in Trier for over a week. Renting an apartment close to the Porta Nigra. Can anyone tell me what street I might find a grocery store near by? I'd also love any suggetions on where to enjoy some tea and german pastries as well.

On a separate note, I want to visit some of the rock formations of the Mullerthal area. What town(s) is that closest to and is it easier to drive or take public transport? Thanks.

Posted: Sun November 27, 2005 12:56 PM UTC
I'm going to be visiting relatives who live in Trier and I'm having a hard time finding an apartment, bed & breakfast or house to rent for 30 days or so.

I prefer the inner city since I will be using public transportation. Any advice will be helpful.

Thanks!

my wife and i are traveling to europe, (my first time) and we are going to visit region around trier germany for the first week and travel in a rental car to holland, luxembourg, bastonge, and nancy france. what will the weather be like in the middle of october, and are there any quaint areas that other travelers have found within an hour or so ride. although this is my first time in europe, my wife has been here a number of times, living in munich during the early 1960's.

Trier MORE TRIER QUESTIONS
Posted: Mon February 3, 2003 09:45 PM UTC
Thanks for all the help with my first batch of questions. here are some odd questions, but in assuming that nothing is like the USA, i am bound to ask the following... (BTW, the actual village i will be residing in during my stay is Speicher, 20-30 minutes from Trier i am told) What about public parking--- Seeing i am looking into renting a car for my stay- i am wondering if a small SUV is recommended or not (i am only looking into it due to the comfort issue of possible long road trips)- if parking is tight and small spaces- then i would assume NOT, however i am not sure as to places like Trier, do you pay for parking, are there parking meters? or do you suggest not even driving to the cities? also, i have heard that fuel is quite expensive- about how much does it cost? anything special i might need to know about that? are there 24 hour fuel stations? especially if we are out in the countryside... and here yet another question... if i decide to drive into another country are there checkpoints or as what we call here "customs" where you stop your car and a guard checks your vehicle and baggage, etc... and again one more question... would you suggest driving from Trier to Paris? is that a possible day trip? as i am really wanting to steer clear of touristy things- any suggestions on other places that might be more beautiful and off the beaten path?
thanks, Trees

Trier Traveling to Trier March 03
Posted: Sun February 2, 2003 10:21 PM UTC
i am looking for any helpful information in regards to several things i have not been able to find out about Trier via- the internet. I will be traveling through Germany by car- my main objective of my trip wil to be re-lax and sight-see the outdoors- along with my camera. I am interested to find camera stores in the area- especially where to get film, including medium format film. i am also wondering where abouts i might find a specialty tobacco store in this area. We plan on traveling light and i do know that you can only bring in a certain amount of cigarettes into Germany- and well, i am a smoker and want to be able to know where to purchase American cigarettes when i get there, along with the possibility of imported Indonesian Djarums. i have had no luck searching for tobacco stores in Germany on line- as i am beginning to wonder if there is a special name used for cigarette stores. On another note. i am beginning to become a bit nrevous about the possibility of the German/English language barrier- are there any special travel groups or english speaking guide/help centers? I would appreciate any information or even websites that you may want to pass along or think would be of assistance- or your personal ideas, help and comments. Thanks, Trees
