| Ixtapa | First Timers Posted: Wed May 14, 2008 08:55 PM UTC
We booked 7-14 June at the Las Brisas Resort Ixtapa. We are newbies to Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo. My questions are the usual ones - where to eat in Ixtapa, best supermarkets, can you walk safely to Ixtapa, any out-of-the-way gems to hike to or anything else you figure is good to know. We will celebrate our 37th anniversary together so I was hoping to find a special place to take my Honey for an evening out, any suggestions on that one are very welcome as well - Thanks very much.

| Oaxaca de Juárez | Prices in Oaxaca.... Posted: Mon April 28, 2008 08:17 PM UTC
This year we went to the Puerto Vallarta area and found it VERY expensive. Almost the same prices as at home in the US for restaurants and hotels.
Are thing cheaper in Oaxaca ? there is less motivation to go to Mexico if it's going to cost so much ! Thanks |

| Puerto Escondido | PE for Christmas with 4 adults and 4 kids...where to stay? Posted: Mon March 24, 2008 05:33 PM UTC
We're going to PE for Christmas with another family and all of our kids, ages 10 to 13. Has anyone done something like this? We're trying to book a good place to stay for a week. House? Apartment? Condo? Hotel? Not sure what the best option will be but we're looking for a good place and realized we'd better hurry because places are booking up fast! Thanks for any advice.

| Estado de Oaxaca | transportation and travel in Dec Posted: Mon November 26, 2007 04:43 AM UTC
Hello all!
Does anyone know how long it takes to travel from Mexico City to Oaxaca on the good buses? Would it be an overnight trip? Also, I'll be visiting with 3 other friends in late December. Is this a busy time and should we book hotel rooms ahead of time? We're not sure when we're arriving, that's all. Thanks beforehand! |

| Estado de Oaxaca | Travel from Mexico City, great hotels, great nearby remote beaches? Posted: Wed November 14, 2007 09:45 PM UTC
We will be arriving in Mexico City on December 31 and staying until January 10. We hope to travel to Oaxaca for much of the vacation. Does anyone have tips on the best way (bus? which bus? etc.) to get from D.F. to Oaxaca City?
In the city of Oaxaca, where is the best place to stay? We are looking for some comfort, but most of all- excellent prices! Finally, we'd like to travel FROM Oaxaca to some remote coastal beach area for a few days. The more private the beach front, the better. Any suggestions of great secluded beaches? And any suggestions how to get there from Oaxaca? Any suggestions on places to stay out near the ocean? Thank you for any ideas you may have. |

Would love to hook up with a like-minded individual or individuals to enjoy some of the evening activities in Puerto Escondido. Happy hours, sunsets, checking out the restaurant and music scene... Let me know if you are into meeting up as I am leaving sooner than later... Gracias |

| Costa Rica | Flying in late, then what? Posted: Mon August 20, 2007 04:37 PM UTC
We are flying into San Jose late at night. We don't want to rent a car and drive from San Jose to Querpos late at night. I know we can use the bus system or plane the next morning. Can we just stay in the terminal for the night?

| Oaxaca de Juárez | December Trip to Oaxaca Planned Posted: Mon May 14, 2007 04:54 PM UTC
My husband & I are going to be in Oaxaca de Juarez the first two weeks of December, 2007. This is to be an exploratory trip in preparation for my retirement in a couple years. What should we plan to see? We'd like to meet some people who have retired there. Anyone interested? We'll have a rental car, is that a good idea? Would like to spend a couple nights here and there, not all in one place but all within hollering distance of the city.

| Oaxaca de Juárez | Casa Pereyra on Independcia? Posted: Thu April 19, 2007 01:09 AM UTC
Does anyone know if Casa Pereyra on Independencia (across from the Basilica) had to close due to all the earlier protests? I have reservations for the fall, but I just noticed their website is gone. I can only locate a generic page on mexonline.com.
If you've been to Oax recently or live there, I would greatly appreciate an update on this hotel if you happen to know anything. But I really hope it's still open. Thank you, Victoria |

| Santa Cruz Huatulco | Is the a good All Inclusive Resort/Hotel in the area? Posted: Mon February 26, 2007 06:54 PM UTC
I have seen a number of comments from travelers that they are dissatisfied with the All- inclusives. Is there a real good one?
If this is not a great all inclusive, I would like to know the names of several good hotels that either have dinning rooms or are within a short distance from good restaurants. Your help and assistance will, as always, be appreciated. Thanks, Paul |

We would like to travel to Oaxaca for Christmas, But we are a bit concerned about the security risk and heath facilities there. We have been to many remote places in the world, regardless of travel warnings etc. But we always check them out first thru venues such as travel forums etc.

| Oaxaca de Juárez | Warning Issued for traveling to Oaxaca Posted: Thu August 10, 2006 09:36 PM UTC
The U.S. Embassy in Mexico has now issued a warning to travelers visiting Oaxaca or intending to do so - as a result of the escalating protests/violence. Here's the text:
"August 8, 2006 Warden Notice Regarding Demonstrations in Oaxaca City, Oaxaca The U.S. Embassy advises its citizens in Oaxaca to avoid demonstrations being held by teachers and students. In recent weeks, the Teacher’s Union Groups have held demonstrations throughout the city of Oaxaca. Local media have reported vandalism, arrests, and injuries as a result of the ongoing confrontations. U.S. citizens in the vicinity are encouraged to avoid large crowds in the Oaxaca area. All persons are encouraged to remain in their homes or hotels, and to avoid downtown Oaxaca and surrounding areas during active demonstrations. Because striking teachers reportedly may attempt to close local airport facilities and the main highway linking Mexico City and Oaxaca, U.S. citizens in the area are advised to monitor local news reports and to contact their airline to confirm flight information. We wish to remind U.S. citizens that even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. U.S. citizens are urged to avoid the areas of demonstrations, and to exercise caution if within the vicinity of any protests. Since the timing and routes of marches and demonstrations are always subject to change, U.S. citizens should monitor local media sources for new developments." |
