Bordeaux Drive from Nantes to Bordeaux to Biarritz
Posted: Tue January 27, 2009 06:57 AM UTC
Hello,

My boyfriend and I are planning a holiday in France this spring, and we were thinking perhaps to rent a car in Nantes, and take the scenic route down the coast to Biarritz (via La Rochelle and Bordeaux), where a friend lives.

We would be most grateful to anyone who could give us advice on:
a)how long each leg of the journey (Nantes-La Rochelle, La Rochelle-Bordeaux, Bordeaux-Biarritz) might take, given that we probably won't use the autoroute
(would lunch in La Rochelle, dinner in Bordeaux be feasible for the first day, for example?);
and
b)whether mid-March is a good time to be doing this trip?

Thanks
Katrina

Hi,

I live and work in Paris. I'm looking for a travel partner for a short trip to Bordeaux from Paris. I'd like to also visit the neighbouring towns around Bordeaux, especially to see the countryside. I'm also looking for new acquaintances to hang around with in Paris.

If anyone's interested, do get in touch at vinayakdeb@yahoo.com.

Cheers,

Bordeaux Quick help in Bordeaux
Posted: Mon September 8, 2008 04:28 PM UTC
I have last minute trip to Paris next week and plan to visit Bordeaux may be before paris trip (this Sat to next Tuesday) or after Paris trip (from next Sat to the following Tues). I am a wine drinker and would like to visit wineries and chateaux for 2 days, including Sunday. I have no preference for top and first growth wine and don't mind visiting any wineries in the regions. Advice needed:

1. Where can I get tour to visit those chateau with reasonable price?
2. Accommomdation for 1 person, around EUR30-50 per nite. Small room or shared bathroom is not an issue, just convenient place where I can join tour for wineries.

Many thanks.
Cheers

Posted: Wed May 28, 2008 02:14 PM UTC
Hi. I am flying to Bordeaux for 5 days next thursday with a friend and want some ideas on what to do in Bordeaux and areas to visit nearby (within 3 hrs). We are deliberating over hiring a car, so wanted to get some ideas of places we can get to by train/bus. we're looking for culture, history and a relaxing/chilled time. Beach or mountains & villages all good. Also any recommendations on accommodation. I'm not so into modern hotels but still like good value cleanliness! thanks very much!!

Bordeaux Winter in Bordeaux?
Posted: Sun August 12, 2007 10:54 PM UTC
I am scheduled to sing at some jazz festivals in and around Bordeaux this December. I thought it would be so romantic if my boyfriend joined me from Miami to spend a week after my gigs are done. We got so excited that we have been surfing for at least 4 hours to learn about this beautiful countryside. However, after all that excitement, we both realized that it might not be as nice in the middle of winter. Is it?

If not, should we just meet at the Eiffel tower in Paris and stay there? Any suggestions/ideas?

Hello,
I am looking for opinions of the best wine & cheese tour, possibly a fabulous champagne tour as well. From what I have read, travelling outside of Bordeaux city is a must to get to these tours, any good transportation suggestions? Also, any recommendations for cheap accomodations in Bordeaux city/country? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bordeaux Travelling to Spain

Hello,
I have done a lot of research on how to travel from Bordeaux to Barcelona, and nothing seems very simple (via rail or plane, a car is not an option.) I was thinking of taking the train from Bordeaux to Montpellier to Barcelona which is about 10 hours total. Is that what I am going to have to do to get to Barcelona? Any simplier suggestions?

Bordeaux Accommodations in Bordeaux / Surrounding area
Posted: Fri June 15, 2007 08:35 PM UTC
Hello,

My husband and I have 4 days/nights in Avignon and then, 4 days/nights in the Bourdeax region mid September. Can anyone recommed lodging in any of the areas around Bordeaux that are serviced by the rail, that is nice, w/patio or courtyard for afternoon relaxing attached, AND nice rooms....mostly on the quiet side and decent bedding. We have only Global Eurail pases so must stay close to rail lines. We plan to rail around the area while there. Do not need to be in Bordeaux, in fact would like something more intimate. Its our 10th anniversary to I'd like to make it special!

Thanks so much,

Peace be with you,

We will be travelling to bordeaux between 16 to 19 june 2007, and we found that all hotels are fully booked that time.
can anybody suggest any nice place to stay during that period, it could be a small hotel / apartment, but we prefer to stay close to city center.
if you know any nice location that the transportation is no problem, please let me know. we don't want to drive during the vinexpo, that is why we prefer to stay in downtown bordeaux.

Not sure if anyone can help out there but finding any kind of accommodation for the nights Ireland are playing in Bordeaux (September 9th and September 15th) in the RWC is near on impossible. Have tried all the usual places from hostel to 5 star to no avail (wanting to be somewhere even close ish to town). If any locals or anyone else can offer any advice (or me a bed for a couple of nights ;-) ) please let me know!

Bordeaux Visiting Bordeau in May
Posted: Tue April 10, 2007 08:12 AM UTC
I will be visiting france with my husband and my 5 months old baby in mid May. I will be driving from CDG to bordeaux and have 3 day trip until we head back to Paris. We planned to stay in Bordeaux for 2.5 days, and thinking about sparing 1.5 day in another city on the way back to Paris. Is this a good idea and what city is good for stopping by? Or should we stay in Bordeaux for 4 whole days and head back to Paris directly? Thanks for your advice...

Bordeaux bicycles in Lacanau
Posted: Sat March 31, 2007 05:11 PM UTC
We are staying very near Lacanau for 2 weeks from 21 July but our rented house has no bicycles. We need robust, simple (but not crap) bikes; 2 adults, 12yr old and 7yr old, plus a seat or buggy for 4yr old. Often, hiring this lot for 2 weeks costs more than a car hire and I'm hoping to find a cost effective solution. Any ideas? Many thanks. Alan.

Bordeaux 18th October - Flying visit to watch the Reds
Posted: Sun October 1, 2006 05:03 PM UTC
As with our recent trip to Eindhoven this will be a 24 hour trip most of which will involve getting there and getting back. However with a bit of luck we will have a few hours in the centre of the city so I hope you VTers will be able to make some suggestions please.

How far from the centre is the Bordeaux ground?

Is there a square that visiting supporters will usually congregate in and around?

How friendly are Bordeaux supporters? We like to think we are a friendly bunch and its nice to mix with opposition fans but I have bad memories of Paris many years ago so would you recommend it?

Is there a nice restaurant that you can recommend that does good steaks (bovine not equine please!) and or seafood?

Any churches/castles or similar buildings worth a visit with a camera close to the centre?

Look forward to hearing from you
