I plan to travel from Alaska to Montana in October in my RV. Can anyone tell me what the weather/road conditions are like in October thru the YT and BC? Is it safe to travel in an RV during that time of the year?

I was looking into planning a trip to the Yukon with my wife, who is a little less adventurous than I am and may require a little more comfort. I like to camp and fish, she likes to relax. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to satisfy both of our travel needs?
we are currently planing out trip to yukon. Arrival will be Sept 4th in Whitehorse.
The trip should contain various actions, like a long kanu trip as well a long hike, , so maybe best would be hire a travel agent for the whole period. Can someone recommend a good agend or office ? So far I havīnt found any agent for september.
I was thinking of using the bus lines from Whitehorse to Fairbanks, via Dawson City (not sure there are still connections from Skagway, as Alaska Direct doesn't seem to have a website anymore), but the agency I enquired with seems to favor the car rental option (maybe for business reasons, of course)... My problem is, I'm not sure it would be reasonable for somebody like me, who never drives (I've got my licence, but, living in Paris, I don't own a car and only use public transportation...), to head into the Yukon on my own and onto gravel roads right after mid-May... Never even drove an automatic car!
So, does anybody around here have any experience of such a drive, and do you think the idea is completely insane, given the circumstances??
Thanks!
Anyone know of a bus company that'll get me from Whitehorse to Anchorage at the end of April? (I'm not flying!!) Any help at all would be great thanks!

Hi, I'm from Quebec and I would very much like to take a trip to the Yukon by backpacking.
My questions are; What are the rules for free camping in yukon? How hard is it to find work and how expensive are the rents? land? I would really like to make this project possible and with your help, it won't be so hard.
Greetings,
my family and I will drive through BC and YT next year and ultimately Alaska. I wonder if anyone can give me tips about road conditions in general during the month of July. For example, according to MapQuest, the driving time from Stewart, BC to Watson Lake, YT on Route 37 takes 15 hours yet it's only 400 miles. That would be a bit too much to drive in one day. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (I know, get a map! but BC/YT maps are hard to come by in Munich :-)
Many thanks and best wishes,
Jerry

We are planning a 2-week 100km Donjek Route trip in mid-June 2006. Two weeks should give us enough time not only to complete the route but also make Mt. Hoge ascent and some glacier day-trips. Since this is an off-trail route, we are looking for anyone who has done it to get some tips. Any tips on the route as well as Donjek glacier and Mt. Hoge ascent will be appreciated. Our special interest is finding someone who can advise on the best river crossing points.
I am planning a road trip from Denver, to Seattle, and up through the Yukon to Alaska beginning in mid May. I have the Mile Post, but know so little about this region. Any suggestions? I'd love to chat with anyone who has done this and who's familiar with the terrain, region, people, etc.
I would like to know what the price per liter of diesel is in Whitehorse, YT, Canada and the surrounding area is at the present time and what may be expected this summer (if known). We are planning another trip to Alaska and northern Canada with a diesel truck and a 5th wheel trailer. Thank you!!!
I want to go to Yukon in August 2006 for my wedding travel. We are affraid by french people who say that there are many mosquitos during this period,is it true? Is it a real problem for motorhome trip?
The "Angry Beaver Fishing Gang" is considering a trip to Stewart Lake in the Yukon next summer (2006). Would really appreciate any feedback about the lake if anyone has fished there before. Would like to get a little unbiased info before we commit to the local outfitter. If anyone would be willing to talk on the phone re: this please reply with your phone number and I will call at your convenience and at my expense. Any and all feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
On Condor flights from whitehorse/yukon to frankfurt/germany via alaska (anchorage or farirbanks) ALL transit passengers are constrained to leave their fingerprints at the US passport check. Many canada tourists got upset about this practice.
I'll be traveling the Stewart Cassiar Highway in July and looking for advice on where to stay. Also was wondering how long of a drive is if from Dease Lake over to Prince Rupert. Thanks!
How can I get there?Canoe, floatplane? Does the kalzas river flow out of the lake or into it? Roughly hoe big is the lake? Are there any permanent biuldings on it?

Hi, I will be visiting Whitehorse for awhile, and I would like to know some information. What kind of clothes do teens/young adults wear?? What are the schools like ( Ex. Hours, Days, Grades(like in elementary what are the grades, and in middle and hs))? What is the official language in Saskatchewan? Thank you so much!!! If there are any good resourceful websites that you know of, can you possibly reply to me and tell me? Thank you, I really appreciate it.
I'll be travelling through the Yukon Territory on my way to Alaska in April 2004. I would appreciate any suggestions of where to stop on the way, especially RV parks/provincial parks with camping, recommendations for places to eat, and recommendations for making this very long trip!
Has anyone travelled around the Yukon or nearby regions (northern BC, Alaska, NWT) in October? Have any experiences, suggestions, or recommendations to share? I know many things close at the end of September, and was wondering how you spent your time up there in the near winter months.
