Good day.
We are fishermen from Lithuania and we are interested in spending some time in Finland (Lapland) during the end of November. So we would like to know, what sort of fresh water fishing we will be introduced to? I mean, open water or ice fishing, lakes or rivers, types of fish?
Also, if you don't mind telling us about the weather conditions in the region? And weather difficulties please. And lastly, we are traveling on our car.
Thank you in advance for the info.
I would love to spend some days in Rovaniemi or just around there duriong XMAS time. I found out that there are a lot of activities to do duriong winter. Would be better if i stay in ROvaniemi to do Santa Clouse activities or even if i go in other towns would be possible? Or is it too far?
Hi,
we are staying in Helsinki and would like to go to Lapland. At the beginning we wanted to go to Ivalo and then rent a car till North Capp but at this moment this is impossible due to the high costs that this trip would have.
So we are thinking about flying till Ivalo and then do something there: are there any bus connection to parks, citys or something nearby?
If we don't rent a car how can we move above there?
And do you think that the last week end of august will be good to see the northern lights?
thank you in advance
We are about to visit Muonio in Finlad during August 2009 and would like to hear from someonw who visted there during that period ofthe year about the expected weather, cloth needed and other tips.
I will be traveling to Finland (Helsinki & Rovaniemi) in the month of October.
Is there a chance to see northern lights in October? What will be the best location in Rovaniemi to see northern lights? I can alter my plan and visit later if there are fare chances to see northern lights later and weather is not too harsh at that time.
I am also concerned about the weather. If I have to go to arctic circle (away from city), will I need more warm clothes in that case? Can they be rented locally?
Also, I will be on tight budget, so will be traveling by bus in the city. How is the bus service in the city and how much does it cost?
I am hoping to travel to Kittila at the end of August and have been struggling to find out much in the way of specifics for average day and night temperatures there at that time of year? Can anyone help please?
I might be in Ivalo/Inari this summer for a summer camp. I was wondering - since I'll be that far north, would it be a good idea to visit Nordkapp or northern Norway? Does anyone know what the approximate travel expenses would be for that?
Dear all
I will be visiting Finland in June for 6 days. I would like to know the following-
-Places to visit/things to do in Helsinki
-Distance between Helsinki & Rovaniemi and the average cost of travel between the places by train
-Places to visit/things to do in Rovaniemi.
I have heard that it is best to visit Laplands during winters. Since i would be travelling on a tight budget would it be advisable to travel all the way to Rovaniemi from Helsinki during summers?
Also, any itenary suggestions or any other places that i can visit in Finland keeping in mind that i cant spend too much !
We are going to be in Helsinki on a cruise ship on Wednesday, Jun 17, 2009 from 6:00 am - 5:00 pm. Originally I thought that we would go to Lapland, but that isn't one of the tours the ship offers. Is that because there is too little time?

we will be traveling form Poland by car.

Hi! I know that it is isoloated, but are there any local companies running day/half day excursions from this hotel?
We are travelling with First Choice on Christmas Eve and their excursions seem very expensive, although all of the tasters are included already. I would like to visit Santa at his log cabin if that is possible, rather than in the hotel.
I will be in Finland from 13-15 Sep and am interested to see and photography the northern lights. Where is the best location in Rovaniemi for that and can those lights be visible on that dates?
I am a student who would like to attend a conference in the Saariselkä resort, close to the Ivalo airport.
Would someone please recommend me low priced accomodation for 1 person between 7 and 11 September 2008 (4 nights) near Saariselkä
There are so many companies offering a snow-safari based activity - which one is the best value for money? Three of us are travelling to Rovaniemi in 2 weeks for a few days.

Hi all,
I am planning to go to Rovaniemi and Helsinki during Christmas. I would like to know how many days I should spend in these two places.
Besides, I discovered that there is no night train from Rovaniemi to Helsinki on 24 Dec, does anyone know whether there are other means of transport that go from Rovaniemi to Helsinki on 24 Dec night?
My wife and another couple are visiting Rovaniemi in March. We intend to take different safaris, husky, reindeer, Santa Claus etc., during our six day stay, but we were wondering what to do during the other hours of the day as they only last for a few hours. This is my third visit to Rovaniemi (both previous visits during November)and I did not mind the cold weather, even though I used to go about only in my suit, as it was a business trip. But my wife and the other couple are a bit worried regarding the clothes they should wear. It would be appreciated if advice on the best clothing to wear is forwarded.
I am travelling to Rovaniemi next week (having left Australia some two months ago) and although I have several woolen jumpers, fleece etc with me I am now concerned about how cold it could get. I would like to take the train up from Helsinki overnight, spend one or two nights in Rovaniemi and then take either the day or overnight train back to Helsinki.
Any advice on how cold it COULD get, good (but not too expensive) hotels, things to do/see would be very much appreciated.
Hi guys!!
I've looked everywhere, but I cannot find how to get from Rovaniemi to Kirkenes (Norway).. Is there any train connection or a bus? I'm just desperate!! :)
I (55 years old) with my wife (52 years) will be in Rovaniemi for two days (begining 3 rd october 2007). suggest what should we see, considering our age. Also which are cheapest place to eat vegetarian food.
We are planning to go to Yllas on a skiing holiday, but we also want to do lots of other things, like snowmobiling, husky and reindeer safaris, etc. The problem is we don't know exactly how many of these we'd like to do - if we enjoy the skiing very much, we might be too busy! The travel agent is pushing us to prebook. My question: is it possible to find places to book these things at the resort, or are they really sold out long in advance?
I'm planning a trip to Rovaniemi this winter. I'm want to travel to helsinki and then to Rovaniemi. When in Rovaniemi I would like to join for a huskytrip (1 or 2 days) I've visited a few webpage's but they all say : at least 2 persons. Can I take a trip as a single person ? Can please somebody give me an answer or help on this problem.
