We are going to visit the area south of Brandon, and we have not found many places for camping/tenting yet. Does anybody have a suggestion for camping in this area? Would camping be restricted to campgrounds only or are there non-private places where we can pitch a tent outside the towns (looks like most the land is farm land).
My husband and I are gong to Churchill in October. We live in Minnesota, so we're just planning to drive to Winnipeg and take the flight to Churchill from there. Can anyone suggest a good, cheap and safe place to leave our car? We will be staying a couple of nights in Winnipeg, so our hotel may be an option, but we're not sure where we'll be staying yet. The airport is also probably an option, but I'm guessing that's expensive. If there are any better ideas we'd love to hear them.
We're also looking for suggestions on the best way to spend a few hours on a Sunday morning. That's the only time we'll actually be free to do things in Winnipeg, but I imagine a lot of things will be closed...
I'm going to be spending a couple of days in Winnipeg in June. I'll be staying at the Place Sant Louis Reil, and was wondering what there might be to do nearby. Also, I was wondering whether anyone could tell me whether the drive to Gimli would be a worthwhile day-trip?
Can anyone advise me whether it is safe to stay at the Malborough Hotel in downtown Winnipeg. We don't have a car as we are flying into Winnipeg. Is it a safe part of town? Most of the reviews say downtown Winnipeg is crime ridden. Which part of Winnipeg is safe? Please advise.
I've got a trip up there in a few weeks and wanted to know where a good area to stay is in? Also, can anyone recommend some good bars/lounges/clubs ect...that are a little nicer. Somewhere the young professionals go.
Thanks
Can you inform me as to the exact location of Crescent Pk. off Pembina Highway in Ft. Garry , MB ? Thanking you in advance ,

Does anyone know of any tour operators who offer simple day trips to see the bears? I don't want a multiple-day package, just one day of viewing the bears. I found one operator that offered this, but they only had a couple of days in October avalable for 2008, and I'd prefer November. Thanks!
I will be moving to Winnipeg in the fall and am looking for a place within 45 minutes of downtown where I could live in my RV through the winter. Yes, I know about Winnipeg winters, bla, bla, bla. My RV is my permanent home and I have wintered in it before. I just need info on RV parks that are open year round or other options for setting up my RV 'permanently' for the winter.

I will be flying into Winnipeg this July and need to get to Winnipeg Beach. Does anyone know of any sort of transportation to get me from the airport to the beach? Unfortunately, I won't be quite old enough to rent a car.
We are coming over to see the polar bears this Oct/Nov and wondered if anyone has been recently and could give us any tips on whether its better to stay on a tundra buggy or in a hotel in Churchill. If its possible to hire parkas to wear as we don't really want to buy big items like this for the extreme weather conditions. Do you see the northern lights at this time of year and do you need to stay out on the tundra in order to see them. Many thanks.
I've read the previous posting on Polar Bears and Churchill and have a few questions. Recently, there has been increasing exposure of Churchill and it's Polar Bear Tour packages. I'm interested in going up there and snapping photos of the PB's and other wildlife up north (I'm from Edmonton). However, I've looked at some of the tours and most of them specify me having to arrange my own transport to Churchill. Ok, expedia can't help me, and AirCanada apparently doesn't go there, so WHO DOES? How does one get from Edm to Churchill? I can guess I have to get to Winnipeg first, then take off from there. Any help? My travel agent buddy is on holidays so he can't help me! Also, has anyone had any experience with these tours in Churchill? Any recommendations? Expected pricing? Length of stay required? thanks!
I'm thinking of moving from Calgary to Winnipeg . Recently visited and had some concerns about the city, ie; employment, crime, etc... I can handle the cold, but what is the quality of life really like. Is there a lot of rational tension between the native and non-native population. Downtown did seem a bit bleak with a disenfranchised, drunks hanging around. Although Calgary has its share of the same problem (maybe less visible). As well, can anyone give me an idea of what Winnipeg is like for artists?
Hi all,
what can I realistically expect/hope to see in February? From my readings, I understand that this is the best time to see the northern lights, but will I see any polar bears? I don't really have the opportunity to go at any other time of year unfortunately (to see belugas, wildflowers, birds).
Thanks!
Is there any web-site which can tell me all the different locations, dates, times of Texas Hold'em tournaments in Winnipeg. And is there a amateur poker league in Manitoba?

Winnipeg stay Posted: Sat April 21, 2007 08:12 PM UTC
Thanks Redlats,
Well been to Edinburgh zoo and entry was very expensive probably about $80 Canadian!
We are spending 3 days at the start and 4 days at the end in winnipeg we are catching the train to Dauphin on the sunday evening and are planning to hire a car from Dauphin that will be our base! we are planning a trip to Brandon and surrounding area sometime in between too.
I read on the forum that the Viarail trains are often delayed do you know if there is any truth in what i read?
Hello, passing through on our way west. We have 2 days MAX. What are the highlights? So far we have the mint and the forks on our list, but welcome all suggestions (including brief stops on route to Regina and from Thunder Bay)! Cheers :)
Thank you, have checked out your home page also! yes we have 2 children aged 10 and 6 Manitoba seems like a very child friendly area. can't believe it costs just $15 for family entrance to assiniboine zoo it is about that per person in the UK!
It is just 5 weeks till our trip so i am trying to have a bit of a plan set out before we come.
Also we are booked in to the Marlborough hotel do you know if it is in a central location in Winnipeg?
Thanks for the replies regarding Manitoba weather! I have since been keeping track of the weather on www.theweathernetwork.com and the temperatures have been steadily rising over the last week or so.
We are staying in winnipeg and then heading to Dauphin, we are hoping to move to Manitoba next year so we are going to visit a few different areas in Manitoba. I would welcome suggestions for places to visit while on our trip.
Canadian Mint Posted: Sat March 24, 2007 12:43 AM UTC
We are going through Winnipeg in May and would like to tour the Royal Canadian Mint. We only have one day there, is there anything else we can fit in, or something more fun than the Mint? Thanks.
Hi
My husband and I are coming to Churchill in November this year. Of course coming from Australia we don't have the extra warm outer clothing that will be needed for this trip, we did go to Antarctica a little while back but we've been told we'll need even warmer clothing than we took there. Want to know if stores in the city (Winnipeg) hire out clothing for visitors for
approximately 7 days and what the going rates are. By the way I've tried the
web but keep going round in circles, ending with sites that want to sell me
clothing. Don't need the extra weight and baggage room involved.
Thanks
We will be in Arborg for a couple of weeks during early October on a hunting trip. What type of entertainment is there or nearby? Are there any bars or nightclubs? What are the best restaurants in the area? Are there package liquor stores in Arborg? What types of beer are sold, and what is the approximate cost? We have been told that you only get Canadian beer.
