Lachine Canal. Posted: Tue October 27, 2009 05:13 PM UTC
Hello,
I'm currently in Montreal and I was told that there is a bike path by the Lachine Canal. I'm looking for a scenic route with lots of trees (in order to see the change of colors...). Is there a way to get the the Lachine Canal by public transportation? Where should I start from? Are there other areas that you would suggest?
My husband and I are visiting Quebec City from Dec 23th to 28th 2009.
Some basic questions:
1) Is there a website that shows what restuarants will be open on Dec 24th and/or 25th? (I assume many in the city will be closed). Any suggestions where we can go for a nice meal on either of those nights?
2) Where are the best bars/pubs?
3) Is eating at the Chateau Frontenac worthwhile?
4) Can you get to Montmorency Falls via public transport and is it open over the Christmas period?
All suggestions/thoughts welcomed
Thanks S
Are there any cruises leaving from Vermont? Specifically, I'm looking for the area of Newport, VT. Our parents are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary and we would love to cruise the lake (approx. a party of 50) in the middle of October 2010. If there is a cruise, would everyone need a passport? Thanks
Heading to Montreal in a couple of weeks - I'm from Australia and I need to try the best Poutine Quebec has to offer. So help me out here... where do I find it?
I'll be going to Montreal for three days in October. I have a few questions if you please:
- What is the best and least expensive way of traveling from Toronto to Montreal (I live in London, by the way, which is close to Toronto)? I checked the air fare and I was considering taking the train, what do you think?
- Any suggestions for hotels near the University Street in Montreal?
- Any suggestions for day care near the same region? I'll be traveling with my 6-year-old.
My wife and I will be heading to Quebec City in the summer of 2010 for our 25th anniversary. I would like to choose a three or four star hotel (large or small) with a great view of Le Chateau Frontenac and maybe the Saint Lawrence River. We will be walking mostly so something in a good location. Any suggestions?
I'm looking for a decent hotel (3 star minimum - around $100-$120 per night hopefully) that has a good karaoke bar within walking distance (a few blocks would be nice).
I'll be looking to do karaoke Monday and Tuesday nights, and I'd like the hotel / karaoke bar to be in a pretty safe neighbourhood. Also, not sure if you know of this level of detail, but I'll be looking to sing hard rock / metal songs so the karaoke needs to have a pretty decent song list.
Hi,
I will be going to Quebec City for holiday with my baby in a couple of days time. I read that the street of some of the attractions are cobblestone. Will I have problem pushing the stoller on the cobblestone street? Thanks.

Cost for taxi Posted: Mon August 31, 2009 02:56 PM UTC
My husband & I are in Montreal this weekend and would like to know if the cost that is posted for taxi service (in this case, from the airport to The Holiday Inn Midtown which is $38.00) is per person or per car .
I will be going to Montreal in early Sept with my husband and a 1 year old baby. We intent to stay at Hotel Louisbourg located at 1649 Saint Hubert Street, H2X 3Z1 Montreal. I have a few questions:
1. Is Saint Hubert a safe place to stay?
2. I will need to park our car in the nearby carpark. May I know which and where is a safe parking area that I can park our car? (preferrably not too far from the hotel as we have luggages, a baby and his things to carry).

Has anyone residing here bought (in Montreal) a type of card that one charges up and then uses when travelling abroad like a debit card?
Is there a special Visa card I don`ty know about?
I`d like to travel with a card in which I have placed a few thousand US dol already, this way there will be no bank fees. Like travellers cheques except it`s a card.
We are planning a vacation trip to Quebec Province this fall and are interesting in viewing and photographing the colorful fall foliage while we are there. We plan to fly into Montreal, visit the Montreal area, and then drive to Quebec City for a further visit there.
What would be the best locations for photographing fall colors in the Montreal and Quebec City areas and what would be the optimum time to arrive to catch the call colors at their peak?
Hello!
I'm going to Montreal this weekend.
I looked some websites and I found there is a visitor 3 day pass for $17, could you let me know how I can by the pass? Could you also suggest me what's the best way to get to city from airport?
Thank you very much.
I was wondering if anyone has ever had the Seafood Buffet at the Chateau
Frontenac, Quebec City. Is it good and worth the cost of $65. Are there any
other restaurants in Quebec City that you would recommend. Thanks!

Good day! I have some questions. My husband and I are going to Montreal for 3 days and Quebec City for 3 days this August. We are going to use our car to go up there. Is it better to use our car while touring by ourselves or leave the car in the hotel and use public transportation? None of us speak and read French and it might be difficult for us to use our car to get around. Lastly, is it okay if we will get our hotel when we get to Montreal or book the hotel in advance. I would really appreciate your answers and thank you.
Hello everyone
I will be in quebec city for 3 days during the christmas period so i was wondering if you could give me some advice on the sort of day tours and activities i can do while there
I will also accept suggestions about places to eat, accomodation, souvenirs, etc
Hi I'm from Colombia and spending a month in Toronto. I, with some friends would like to go to Montreal, visit the Cirque Du Soleil (big time fans), and stay a night in the city. However we are expected to spend little money in that trip, so I would like to know if you could tell me where to find a cheap place to stay near "Under the Grand Chapiteau, Quays of the Old Port of Montreal".
As a side point, I have everything planned on maps, however my friends doesn't believe me when i say that trains from Toronto can get to the central station in Montréal, am I wrong?
Thinking of travelling from NYC area to Montreal for husband's 50th over summer. Will be me, 13 year old daughter, and hubby. Without spending a lot of money what is the best way to get there and best place to stay? Flying seems to be very pricey and the train reviews are awful. Anyone ever take a bus? Any recommendations would be great thanks!
we are going to new england for about 10 days and have decided to spend 2 evenings in montreal. we enjoy wandering old neighborhoods and eating in inexpensive restaurants that cater to locals. we tend to avoid the tourist experiences and look more for a "living there flavor".
My partner and I are going to visit my family in Toronto in September.
I've been to Canada several times and it's his first time, so we wanted to visit Montreal and Quebec city, too.
Are there any guided tours to Quebec, about 3 nights, departuring from Toronto?
Can you recommend something?
We want to visit Montreal and Quebec City, so anything that covers both cities would be okay.
My wife and I will be going to Montreal later this year and I was wondering if I might get some recommendations as to where we might consider staying?
Price wouldn't be too much an issue so what area and what hotel might be a good solid choice for us to consider? We would like to have an area that would be provide a good point to have access to do all the touristy kinds of things, etc.
Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated and I thank you in advance for anyone who responds.
Hi - I will be visiting Montreal with a friend for a few days in July and would like to stay in a moderately-priced but nice hotel adjacent to a good bike path. Can anyone recommend a neighborhood or a specific hotel where it would be good for a first-time visitor to stay? We are just casual bike-riders so we want to go on flat bike paths. Thank you!
