Wisconsin Goose lake
Posted: Sun June 8, 2008 01:29 PM UTC
We will be renting a vacation home on Goose Lake this year site inseen, but appears to be nice and I have spoken with owner who assures me it is what we need. We will have 8 people ages 10 thru 60. Assume 1 day kids will all go into the Dells , but looking for some feedback on the following;

We plan on some tubing What is the general feeling about people doing this? Do locals have a problem? Restricted hours for this? How is the lake?

What is available in local area for supplies such as groceries, restaurants, etc?

Entertainment?

If someone can help, much appreciated

Milwaukee Milwaukee to Toronto (ONT) Using the Ferry System
Posted: Fri May 9, 2008 11:46 PM UTC
Low and high, high and low, I have looked everywhere. Has anyone done the Milwaukee, WI to Toronto, ONT trip using the ferry system across Lakes Michigan and Huron (God, I hope that's the right lake). I'm trying to find a way to avoid a nasty trip just on the US highway system going to Connecticut. Toronto to Connecticut is a scant 9 hour drive, whereas, Rochester, MN to CT is around 20 hrs. We will be taking a car (obviously) so portage with that item is mandatory.

We'll be heading out May 20. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
A gagillion thanks to anyone that can help.

Portage Transportation
Posted: Wed May 7, 2008 11:49 PM UTC
I recently had the pleasure of spending a few days in Portage, however are there any alternative travel than Amtrak? There was only one train per day both arriving and departing! Does a bus/coach line run through? this was the only problem I had whilst there, the Motel was wounderful, people very friendly, I am definitely going back :)

Wisconsin General Information about Eau Claire
Posted: Thu April 24, 2008 05:35 PM UTC
Hi folks,
I am probably going to spend nine months next year in Eau Claire, and was looking for some basic information.
1- What are the general daily life expanses in the city (Sandwich, meal in a mid-range restaurant, Coke, Pizza, bus ride, etc....)
2- As Wisconsin is near the Canadian border, is it feasible to visit Montreal. Is there bus links, how much does cost the trip???
3- Any additional information about the city, and any other comments are just welcome.
Thanks,

Scandinavia cruises to St, Petersburg
Posted: Tue November 6, 2007 02:16 AM UTC
Interested in a 7 day scandinavian cruise which includes St. Petersburg. Not a lover of cruising, but seems to be the best way to get around this area. Any opinions? Looking to travel next August and need a locale that is not a hot climate (can't take Rome or Paris anymore during a heat wave). Want to be with a "middle-age" crowd....not too wild but not on a weeklong nap! Would love to hear about experiences on Regent Seven Seas or similar line or alternatives.

Thanks.

Wisconsin Texans Loose in Wisconsin
Posted: Mon November 5, 2007 10:52 PM UTC
We plan a week in Wisconsin the end of June, into and out of MKE. Arriving on Saturday, we'll first head downtown to the Polish Festival, etc., and stay in Milwaukee for two nights probably. Our last night or two we'll spend in Madison and head to the airport again on Saturday.

In between though we're a bit unsure. Is Door County too touristy and overrun that time of year? I hear 42 can get quite taxed.

What about instead heading across to the Mississippi and La Crosse, taking in Vernon County on the way to Madison.

Is it crazy to consider doing both Door Co and La Crosse with so little time? Any better itineraries?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If not feasible, what locaiton is good to stay both for the game and for the night life?

Wisconsin The Great River Road
Posted: Sun October 7, 2007 01:49 AM UTC
Me and my mom are driving from Michigan to Minnesota to visit my brother. We will drive part way the first day and stay in Baraboo. The second day we will drive from there visit La Crosse and then drive the rest of the way up along the great river road. My questioning is are there any places along The great River Road (between La Crosse and St Paul) that anyone really suggest or can tell me more about? I have found a few places that the Great River Road website suggest but I would love to hear other places or what you really recommend! Any responses will be appreciated! =o)

Milwaukee Coming to Milwaukee for July 3rd Fireworks
Posted: Tue June 26, 2007 05:31 AM UTC
I will be driving from Minneapolis down to Racine for the July 4th parade and hope to make it to Milwaukee in time for the fireworks.

I hear that parking is a nightmare and coming from out of town, I would like some help.

Can you see the fireworks from the Summerfest grounds?

Can you take the Summerfest shuttles and go to Veterans Park?

Just trying to see what I am getting myself into.

Thanks!

Wisconsin Get away in my tent

Any suggestions for a quiet beautiful place to pitch my new tent for a "get away from it all"? I don't like those campgrounds where people are making noise until 2 a.m. and you have no privacy either.

Wisconsin Looking for a location
Posted: Mon April 2, 2007 08:43 PM UTC
Years ago, when traveling with my parents, there was some sort of castle/chimney/tower rock formation that could be seen from the highway we were on. There was a park there for picnics and a bit of hiking. As I recall, there were 2 or three "towers" connected at the base. I'd like to take my son there, but I don't remember where it is. My dad passed away a few years ago, and my mom doesn't remember it. If may have been somewhere near the Dells, but I don't know for sure. It wasn't where we were going, but, since it could be seen from the highway, we did stop there a few times on our way past. If anyone knows where this is, please respond. Thanks.

Lake Geneva hotel in lake geneva
Posted: Tue September 26, 2006 11:12 PM UTC
Hi fellow travelers! Chicago guy here and I am planning on taking my wife for a getaway weekend in late October. I've chosen Lake Geneva. After much research I've decided that I'd like to stay at a hotel close to the action (i.e. the lake, downtown, etc) but also one that still has a bit of charm. I've narrowed it down to 3 and need to get your opinion of which one is the best! Obviously a nice romantic weekend is what I am looking for, but I also want to be able to walk nearby to the fun shops and bars! I also want to do horsebakc riding and maybe some other activities. Currently I am looking at the Bella Vista Suites, The Cove, and the Milcreek Hotel. Anyone have any experience with these places and can help me pick?? I decided to stay away from the further away quieter B&B's (like lazy cloud or french country inn) and also decided to stay away from the Grand Geneva. that has left me with these 3. Let me know if I am missing a good one! thanks!
