Hi All! My husband and I are travelling to Quebec and want to jog down into Vermont for a couple of nights. Any suggestions for an inn/b & b? Something quiet, clean, friendly, perhaps close to an interesting town.
My girlfriend has mentioned staying somewhere in Vermont after Christmas and over New Year.
Any help in recommendations (websites) as to where to stay. Coming from New York it would help if the hiring of a vehicle was kept to a minimum although I appreciate this might not be possible given the weather.
Something quiet but not too remote, cabin-like but within a couple of miles of a grocery store or basic shops/diner.
I am not familiar with the area at all but any pointers appreciated.
Highest Bowl Posted: Sat August 8, 2009 05:10 AM UTC
I love hiking in the Middlebury Snow Bowl area of the Breadloaf Wilderness in the Green Mountain National Forest, and I remember seeing on a topo map years ago a little natural bowl (situated on the rim of Middlebury Snow Bowl) called "Highest Bowl". (I believe it was called that because it was the highest altitude natural bowl in the area.) I'd love to hike there. Can anybody tell me exactly where it is and how to get there?
Looking for some recommendations for 2 middle aged couples spending a few days, including New Years Eve, 2010 in Vermont at a B&B. Priority is on good food with nice accommodations.
Mt. Mansfield Posted: Sun August 2, 2009 03:00 PM UTC
I'll be in Stowe VT next weekend and I'm looking for a good hike. I was thinking Mt. Mansfield would be nice, but I'm not familiar with all of the different trails. If anyone can recommend any "must do" trails, that would be great. Also, how's hiking the Chin, camel hump or the pinnacle?
Hi, Husband and I are planning to spend maybe 3 months in New York (house swap partially) October to December approx. in 2010. We also want to cruise New England/Canada coast to visit ports where we can take tours to see the autumn foliage. I've read that the further North, the earlier the peak colour. Could someone please advise the best week to book the cruise and which direction to sail, probably using Quebec and New York as start/end ports. Or - do we abandon the cruise idea and make a road trip, but we would probably encounter accommodation problems! Thanks for any help.
We plan to drive from Montreal downtown to Boston downtown on a Monday morning.
What would you suggest to do: drive straight to Boston or spend the day aong the way sightseeing. We could drive through or spend the whole day somewhere, we have time but I don't know if there is anything interesting to see in Vermont or New Hampshire... Which route would you choose?
I would also like to know what would be the best border crossing to take on a Monday morning - a bigger one (traffic jam?) or a smaller, secluded one? Is it suspicious if we cross a border (with foreign passports in a rented car) in such small place, should we better go to a larger crossing with more international travellers? Which one would you suggest? Thanks!
We are planning a family vacation to New England in late October but have no idea which area to stay in. We were thinking of Vermont and I would really appreciate some advice on where would be best to go. My children are aged 9, 6 and 3 so ideally would like some activites to keep them amused. I would also really love to experience the tradional picturesque villages and some good shopping. We prefer a quiet life to busy and just really appreciate beautiful scenery. We will be flying into Boston and then driving. Thanks!
I would like to know if I arrive in my car at the bus terminal in Burlington, may I leave it for a few weeks? Would there be a charge and what would that charge be? Thank you for you consideration........Jeff

I remember traveling to here from Albany and playing pinball for an entire weekend when I was a freshman. I heard it's gone now. Anyone know what's in it's place now? It was a fun place to hang? Is it still a fun place? Do they still have pinball?
my girlfriend and I are going to spend 2 weeks in New England and we are trying to establish an itinerary that allow us to cover the main must-do's of North and Central Vermont, New Hampshire, Mid Coast Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and finishing in New York City. We know we would need months to cover properly all this area, that's why we are looking for information about what we should not miss from people living there or have been there. We are arriving from Montreal to Burlington by bus and we want to drive through the states finishing in NY City. Any tips on car rental around Burlington then will be really appreciated, too. We want to return the car near NY.
I'm looking to take my kids for a weekend trip to VT to go visit a maple sugaring house/farm. What is the peak time to do this?
Ideally, we'd like to be "near" the flagship Vermont Country Store in Weston, but more importantly would like to make sure we go to a great sugaring farm with a great breakfast. A bonus would be to have a hotel/inn that had an indoor pool...any suggestions? We live south of Boston and would like to stay closer to southern or central VT, if possible (the kids would go bananas if we drove "too" far north...) and any extra family-friendly suggestions would be so appreciated.

Hi there,
I am planning to visit Killington Easter 09, with my wife and kids 11 & 15. (We are from N.Ireland) I have skied extensively in Europe, but want to try USA. I hope to take in a city break to Boston also. Can anyone recommend apartment type accom with 2 bedrooms, close to slopes. Is there a ski guide facility and if so charge? Any must "Sees" or "Doos". How would I get to/from Boston. If anyone has any other helpful tips, I would really appreciate it.
Hi
We are planning a road trip starting Toronto to Ottawa to Montreal to Boston to Niagra Falls then flight back to England.
21 days in all. Could anyone give advice on best route from Montreal to Boston to include all must see must do places. Want the best experience of New England as possible. We are a couple with no kids on this vacation, so no retrictions.
Hope to visit late July, early August
I'm planning to go to Woodstock next year for the foliage season. I know I'll have to book a hotel in advance, but how long in advance would you say? Are we talking one month here? Two? Six?

Will be traveling form Albany NY to Andover VT on route 7a. Can anyone tell me if this is a good route for scenery. Also would like to stop at an apple orchard in Shaftsbury. Any info on this?
Thanks, Mike
I wonder if I could ask a quick question. Im from Great Britain and am planning to visit New England in late October. The only thing that concerns me is wether we would see any hunting going on – I know this all sounds a bit soft (and Im not questioning anybodys beliefs or anything like that) – but my girlfriend is a little queasy at the prospect of seeing animals being shot and doesn’t really want to go if that’s the
We're driving through vermont on route to Connecticut and want a B&B to stay for 2 nights. We plan to visit Lake Champlain and the Green Mt Nat Forest and would rather stay near the latter - can anyone recommend a place - is Manchester or Wilmington nice and if so which places could we stay? Or are they very commercialised and should we stay somewhere else. I would appreciate you help.

My wife and I plan 3 days in Vermont in mid-August. Should we plan on one Inn somewhere mid state and do day trips North and South or 3 Inns, one night each?
My husband & I will be coming to VT in mid October. We plan to stay in Stowe, Vt for a few days. The original plan was to stay in Boston for 2 nights, Stowe, VT for 2 nights, and then Lincoln, NH for 2 nights. We are starting to think that we should just stick to 3 nights in VT and 3 in Boston. We will be flying into Boston. It's our first time to New England and want to make the most of it w/o over dueing it. Will we be missing out by not going over to NH?
