Hi all! (it echos in here! - anyone around?)

We'll be heading for the Staunton, VA area in a couple of days and we'd be really happy to hear about any tips anyone might have for finding some free firewood in the area. We don't need a ton of it - just enough for a campfire for a few nights. The last trip we took we happened to pass by a place where someone had just cut a tree down and left the logs by the side of the road with a free sign on them, and that was great.

Any suggestions?

If anybody reading this post and have tips to share with us pls do.
First of Sept 08 we are staying at Powhatan Plantation in Williamsburg VA for one week. Never stayed at this resort. It is thru RCI. I hope it is nice. I hope I can look forward to it and not look back on it as something We shd not have done.
We would like to spend a day at Norfolk. Maybe at the waterfront? Hoping to have boat to plate dinner? Good stadium seating movies nearby?
We would like to go to Virgina Beach one day as well. Anybody know any good raw bars there?
I would like some help from people who know first hand of these places. Not hopelessly rely on brochures. Although I'm not knocking brochures. Thanks in advance.

I have already found a map of the Richmond bus stops (http://www.ridegrtc.com/images/systemmapMay2008.pdf), but I still do not know how to get where I need to be on 02 July. Can someone please help? I will be arriving at the Amtrak station, and need to go to 2812 Emerywood Pkwy. Directions for a car say to take the 64 W exit Broad St./Glenside North, and then make a few more turns for about a mile, but I will not be taking a car, and will have to get there by a Richmond bus.

In addition, does anyone know of a cheaper--and much better!--to get to Richmond than Greyhound? I am coming from Charlottesville, a town that only has transportation to D.C., if any.

Hello. Me and my husbund are coming to VA beach on June 27-29 for a little get away. The only problem that we have ran into is that we are both only 20 years old and cant kind a hotel that will let us stay there because of our age. I dont know what to do and I dont think this is far. Hello everyone! I have a question for locals in Fredricksburg. We stayed at a Hampton Inn last year in Fredricksburg on our drive down to SC from Montreal. I am uncertain of which Hampton Inn we stayed at, however it was a quick drive to a whole bunch of restaurants, including a newly opened (2007) chilli's that was across the street from a Walmart. Looked like the side that chilli's was on was a newly developed area.

Any ideas? We believe its the Hampton Inn on Market Street, however aren't 100% and b4 we book it thought i'd ask here.

Did you seriously review Ruby Tuesdays, a national chain. I have two of them in Toledo. I want to know about local dining establishments.

as our trip to shenandoah is coming closer, i am getting nervous. i am confused which route / highway to take for the most part after we cross the Peace Bridge at Niagara Falls to enter virginia at the right place for visiting shenandoah national park.

1. Google advises I-190 S to I-90 W (for 152 kms) to I-79 S towards pittsburgh (for 159 kms), then I-76E (for 215 kms)to I-70 and then regional routes.

2. Mapquest suggests taking Us 219 for the most part and then regional routes.

3. we could also take I 81 but that would be a long distance to cover.

is there any suggestion?

I'll be on a businesstrip to Ashburn May 6.-May 12. I'll have a Hotel room in Ashburn and a car. I will do a little bit of working, but most of the time, I'll be on my own with no plans.

Any suggestions?
- Go to Washington DC and be a tourist?
- See how many states I can manage to visit in 5 days? by car? by greyhound?
- Experience Ashburn life?

I'm considering an east coast roadtrip from Tampa to NYC, and am trying to choose between US 13 along the Delmarva Peninsula or going through Williamsburg, Richmond and Fredericksburg. I haven't been to either area, so I'm not sure what to expect. Mainly I'm looking for natural beauty and quiet over throngs of tourists and cheesy shops.
The plan is to stay just south of Norfolk the night before and DC the next night, so I wouldn't have much time at all.
Any insight?

Hello guys, are there any buses/trains that goes from Richmond to Blackstone and back, Va? How much would it cost? Thank you!

I came to Virginia Beach back in the 80's and we stayed way down on the northern end of the beach in a motel - it wasn't anything fancy. I was wondering if anyone may know of this or any hotel or motel that is close or on the beach, away from the boardwalk and somewhat close to Ft. Story?

my family and i will be visiting shenandoah np in the 1st week of july 2008. where should i be looking at VT pages to get tips on neighbouring cities, towns for attractions in the vicinity? McGaheysville? harrisonburg? elkton?

of course i have visited pages made on shenandoah np specifically.

We camped at Big Meadows Campground this summer and bought 2 wine glasses from the gift shop there. We had a great time and the glasses hold memories. Unfortunately, one of the glasses broke. How could we get another one (or two)? Please let me know.

Are there any historic lighthouses that are about a two hour drive from Virginia Beach? I have a friend coming from OOT and he'd like to see all the lighthouses there are around here. HE claims there's one that's about two hours from here. Thanks

I'm 30 and my mom is coming into town for a girl weekend. We would like to explore Virginia more to get out of hectic DC. Does anyone heave some suggestions? We are interested in everything, but so much seems to be geared towards a "romantic" or "family" getaway. I would love suggestions of good spa getaways, maybe light hiking (mom is 60), exposure to Appalacians, wineries, beach...I would like to drive no more than 4 hours from DC but more than 2 (so we really get out).
