| Houston | Hello, transportaion advic would be great of possible. Posted: Wed May 7, 2008 03:48 PM UTC
Having read through many pages here over the last dew hours (thanks) I am beginning to panic about the fact that having a car seems to be the only way possible to get around Houston!
I am acommpanying my husband on a business trip for a week. We are staying at the Willowbrook Hilton. I will have to keep myself amused in the day times. I will not be able to drive abroad. I have tried it once -diaster! What if anything could you reccommend? Are taxis going to be hideously expensive? It's a shame that we couldn't have been more central. Hope I don't regret tagging along now lol! Any advice would be much appreciated. |

| Dallas | been a while.. Posted: Tue May 6, 2008 01:45 PM UTC
ok... I live in Little Rock and have made several trips to Dallas..it's been some time though and I was younger and not as interested in history as I am now. I'm coming with a friend who has never been to Dallas. I remember staying at the Hyatt by "Reunion Arena" years ago. I know we took a train on a short ride to Westend..seems to me there was a tunnel too that had a lot of JFK info in it or maybe I am dreaming..My friend really wants to go to the grassy noll...
I do know that once I get to Westend I can find the museum area where you can go up and tour. Will they tell you there how to get to the noll area so we can walk around? Is the train the easiest to Westend or can we walk? What's the best route to go see the JFK info from there? I really want to make his trip memorable but I'm directionally challenged and get turned around easily!! Thanks in advance my TX friends!!! |

| Texas | Bed and breakfast in the hill country, or surrounding area? Posted: Mon April 28, 2008 11:34 PM UTC
Yes, I realize that's a large area, but that's ok.
I want to send my parents on a combination mother's day/my dad's birthday trip. It doesn't have to be on Mother's day or even in May. I want to send them on a bed and breakfast sort of a trip. They like country-western style dancing, nice views, great food, BBQ, beer, etc. My dad is a big guy in his 70s so an active trip is out of the question. They both live northwest of Austin, so something in Wimberly, Kerrville, Inks Lake area, outskirts of San Antonio, Lake Travis.... you get the picture. Also, since I'm graduating from University next week, it can't be TOO expensive. I was thinking of maybe just paying for the bed and breakfast and giving them a list of ideas to do during the day. I was looking for a good site about B&Bs around this area, but I didn't find anything of much value. Thanks! |

| Houston | Traveling by Bus Posted: Wed April 16, 2008 04:13 PM UTC
I am traveling to Houston on a business trip in June. I am allergic to everything, so I will probably have to eat dinner at Whole Foods Market. Google Maps Traffic has helped me rule out renting a car. So I was planning on taking the bus. How safe is the public transportation, are there any rules that I need to follow? And is the nearest Whole Foods safe? (I will be staying downtown near the ballpark)
Thanks in advance. |

I have planned and paid for flight and hotel to Paris, France for the end of December/ beginning of Janurary to celebrate New Year's over there and also my honeymoon. I was wondering if anyone knew of any places to eat, things to do (obviously outside the big tourist attractions), MUST DO experiences that we CANNOT leave Paris w/o doing. Keep in mind we will be going in the winter. Also, any advise is also appreciated on how to make our French vacation the ultimate!!!

| Dallas | rent-a-car from the airport terminal Posted: Mon March 31, 2008 09:59 AM UTC
I will be arriving at the Dallas Fort Worth Airport and I was wondering how I can get to the rent-a-car office from there? If I book a car online, will they pick-us up from the terminal? Or is there a shuttle bus that goes directly there? I was just wondering how it would be difficult to bring around our luggages to many places. Any help? Maybe you could also suggest good rent-a-car services.

| Laredo | Medical question Posted: Sun March 23, 2008 05:36 PM UTC
It looks like I may have to have a PACEMAKER installed. I have IMSS (Mexican insurance) but it does not cover pacemakers except in an emergency. I have Medicare which does. I am planning on catching a bus to Laredo to use Medicare and need to know the name of a inexpensive hospital and doctor. Thank you for your help.

Is there a place or a business where I can check out snorkeling gear or even get a snorkeling tour? And if you happen to know the prices off the top of your head then that would be helpful. Other than that I am open to any suggestions. Thanks!

| Houston | 1 week Houston visit - top 10 to do's?? Posted: Mon March 17, 2008 12:05 PM UTC
Hello,
We're from the UK visiting my uncle in Spring, Houston for a week from 29th March 2008. I would appreciate your suggestions on: 1) Where to stay? We're looking for a decentish hotel (3* upwards) within a 30 minute drive of Spring preferably where there are some bars and restaurants. 2) What to do? There will be four of us(all male), 2 in our 30's and 2 in their early 60's. As my uncle is recovering from an operation and my father has bad knees, we can't do anything too active. Ideas so far include: - Boating/fishing - Sporting event - Gun shooting (not hunting) - Something motoring related - we're all petrol heads. - Anything slightly off the wall - e.g. visiting the mirrored glass toilet downtown??!! Any other ideas?? Thanks in advance. |

Hello, has anyone actually taken the TRE into Dallas and then connected to DART to head to White Rock Station? I am curious, form a first-hand perspective how difficult it would be for a foreigner coming to Dallas to figure out and how long it takes. Thanks, Saraki

| Dallas | Easter weekend in Dallas Posted: Tue March 4, 2008 09:46 AM UTC
Hello all!
I'll be in Dallas over the Easter weekend, staying downtown by the Galleria. I've been to Dallas before and have been to a couple of museums downtown, and had been to a nice pedestrian area with a lot of restaurants and bars (don't remember the name). I'm looking for a wide variety of things to do-a nice dinner at a non-chain restaurant, a non-country music bar, possibly some outlet shopping, a museum or something I may not have thought of. I will likely be on my own, as I can't be sure my colleagues will care to join me, so safety is also key(especially in the evening) and since it's a holiday weekend, I'm sure it might be a bit quiet too. Thanks for any tips! |
