Boat trips Posted: Mon June 18, 2007 01:13 PM UTC
Hi
We are going to Cannes in July and would love to spend a day sailing around in a boat (sunbathing, swimming, generally relaxing..!) Does anyone know of any good (small) boat excursions? Unfortunately can't afford to charter one for the day..!
Thanks

Where to stay-Cannes or Nice Posted: Sun June 10, 2007 03:55 PM UTC
My wife, 13 yr old daughter & I will be staying 3-4 nights in Cannes/ Nice in August 13-16. Which town should we stay in. We cannot find any reasons to pick one over the other. We want to be near the beach but will have a car and to see the sights. We will take a day trip to Monnaco. Thanks.

Cannes - Accommodation Posted: Sat June 9, 2007 03:57 PM UTC
Hi@all!
We are late :-)... We, two guys are searching for a 2/3 star b&b, hotel for the period of 20/06 to 23/06/2007.
Does anyone have any experiences, if there is a chance to get a room for reasonable price during the cannes lion festival? And is there a chance to book locally a room?
Thanks for any information!
A bientôt!

Cannes, Nice & Monte Carlo Posted: Mon June 4, 2007 03:22 AM UTC
My Wife 13 year old daughter and I will be spending a few days in the S France at the end of August and would like to know what are some interesting sights to see. We will have a car at our disposal. Also are the beaches public, do we need to stay at a hotel with beach access. Is St Tropez worth the trip?
Thanks in advance.

Cannes la Bocca to TVG train station in Cannes Posted: Sun June 3, 2007 02:07 AM UTC
Hi everyone, I think this question is going to be one for someone living in Cannes. We are a family of 2 adults,2 children & luggage staying at Residence Maeva 5 rue de la Verrerie Cannes la Bocca. We will be catching the 7.30am TVG train from Cannes to Paris on Sat. Sept.1st What I need to know is how do we get from where we are staying to the station in Cannes to catch the TVG? particularly at the early time we need to leave. Would we be better just getting a taxi and if does anyone have an idea of how much that would cost. Or are there early buses or trains that would take us from la Bocca to the TVG station and if so where would we catch them in relation to where we are staying? I appreciate your help, I wouldn't have been able to plan this trip as well as I have (Or at least think I have!) without the invaluable help of other VT members. Regards, Michele

Driving from Cannes to Pisa Posted: Sat May 5, 2007 01:21 AM UTC
Hi everyone, can anyone give me an idea of how long it would take to drive from Cannes to the leaning tower of Pisa. We have a week in Cannes in late August and wondered if we could hire a car and do the trip. Could we drive there and back in a long day (we are from Australia where it is not uncommon to leave early in the morning and do a five hour drive spend an hour looking at something then drive the five hours straight back home)Obviously if it is a really long way to Pisa then we could stay overnight, if we had to do that does anyone know if there are any cheaper hotels in Pisa. I thank you for your advice.Regards, Michele

SIM card recommendations Posted: Thu April 19, 2007 05:22 PM UTC
I am coming to France for 10 days soon (for the film festival in mid May), and would like to buy a SIM card either in Cannes or in Nice.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent firm or place to buy the card? Roughly how much can I expect to spend?
Thanks for your help!

Connection between Cannes and near-by towns Posted: Sat April 14, 2007 12:38 AM UTC
I need to be in Cannes for business during The Film Festival, but apparently I cannot stay there because all hotels are already booked for that period. Which one of the near-by towns should I choose, in order to have the best connection and the easiest approach to Cannes? I am considering places it takes no more than 20-30 minutes ride to get there. Also, could you tell me how much a bus ticket would cost? And how much would be taking a cab?
Very important note, I would prefer a place that is connected with Cannes by bus at night as well. Are there any? I have been told there is only train at night, but I also read some warnings that train stations there are not very safe at that time. Could you tell me if this is true?
Thanks a lot for any information you might have.

Cannes to paris by train? Posted: Wed April 11, 2007 05:06 AM UTC
Hi everyone,
We will be staying in La Bocca for a week at the end of September then we must be in Paris on the 1st of September (a Saturday) I have been trying to work out whether we should fly or go by train. We are 2 adults and 2 kids, the train seems more convenient because I think it goes from Cannes (it's hard to get exact info as their english section of their web site is useless - hardly any info at all.) If we go by plane it is quicker but more expensive and we'd have to get to Nice airport to catch it. Does anyone know if the train arrives in the heart of Paris or would we have to transfer, we will be staying in the St.Germaine area. Also would it be necessary to book this far ahead or could we buy the tickets a couple of days ahead? Or should we just take the plane??? getting the message that I'm confused? It would help enormously if I could speak & read French, I'm trying to learn for our trip but only on the basics so far, I know my name which should come in handy when I get lost - which I know I will!! Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Michele

VIP room tickets Posted: Fri March 30, 2007 08:59 PM UTC
Hello,
I am traveling to the South of France and Cannes in May.
I want to go to the VIP room to see DJ Tiesto.
I assume that I need tickets ahead of time.
Does anyone know how to get tickets to the VIP room?
The VIP room site is not up and the usual sites do not have tickets
Thank you

Does anyone know this area? Posted: Sat March 3, 2007 10:03 AM UTC
I am trying to decide which of the rentals I've found are beter for me because they are in an area more accessible to markets, restaurants, train, etc without renting a car. I am looking at one place in "Basse Californie" district and one on the Boulevard du Midi. Please help me!!! I don't want to have to rent a car for the entire motnh. If you know either of these areas, please clue me in as to walking, public transport, etc...
Cheers!

Writer looking for retreat; Cannes or Nice Posted: Fri March 2, 2007 07:19 AM UTC
Hello all. I am travelling to France for the first time in search of a beautiful place by the sea by which to finish my novel. I have found a couple of villas to rent. The cheaper of the two that I've narrowed them down to is in Cannes, but as I'll be staying for one month, I've gathered that there is more to do in Nice. I tend to go out in search of cafes and pubs to get work done. Which has the nicer beaches, or are they the same?
Also, I'm trying not to blow money on renting a car, so is one town better than the other for using public transportation.
Finally, if I were to take a trip into Italy or Spain while I'm there, which is recommended in terms of time, ease by train, etc...
Thanks so much for your help. If you think of any other advice for a first-time traveller to the south of France, feel free to chime in.

Looking for a family holiday Posted: Fri February 23, 2007 03:07 PM UTC
Hi
I'd like to take my family to the Rivierra but I'm struggling to find somewhere suitable. My requirements are:
1. Suitable for families (my daughter is 12 years old)
2. Hotel or apartments with pool (not camp sites or chalets)
3. Resort should have entertainment in the evenings suitable for families
4. Close to train station - I don't want to drive whilst on holiday !
5. Plenty of restaurants
I don't really want to stay a few miles out of resorts. I like Nice but I think it probably is a bit too big.
Generally, we tend to spend a lot of time by the pool, but going off on the odd day trip. So a nice hotel is important. In the evenings we like to visit restaurants then walk around the resort or watch live bands or magicians etc.
Can anyone recommend anywhere ? Thanks.

Travel from Paris to Cannes Posted: Fri June 9, 2006 06:44 PM UTC
Hello everyone,
I wanted to see if anyone could suggest the best way to get from Paris to Cannes. Last time I was in Europe I took the train everywhere; however, I’ve never actually taken one from Paris to Cannes. I wanted to find out how long it takes by train and what is the ticket price for first class. Also, would it be better to just fly from Paris to Nice and take the train to Cannes from there?
Thanks a lot,
Jane.
