| Cannes | Train Price for an Old Guy Posted: Tue August 19, 2008 02:36 PM UTC
I'll admit it! I turn 61 next week & everything is slowing down. I'm trying to find train fares for my wife & I but can't seem to figure them out. I show anywhere from 33 Eu. on up. I don't know weather that's for one or two, Round or One way trip and/or senior fares. We'd like to take a quick trip to Nice from Cannes while on a cruise stop. We also plan on a local tour of Cannes called "Big Tour". Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

| Cannes | I need your advice on 8 day stay in the area of Cannes Posted: Tue February 26, 2008 10:28 PM UTC
It is a combination trip of work and vacation. I have to meet a person that lives in Tanneron (one meeting for 2 hours) - we agreed to meet in Cannes, but the meeting can take place in Tanneron. It is our first time in South of France _ my husband needs mostly -rest, so what we think to do - is rent a nice place ( it can be in a small Boutiq hotel' or house, or room in an house ) - that will be our foacl point and we will go around with the car have nice trips. Not too much walking as I am recovering from torn muscle, and not too much driving as we try to rest. Any information - suggestions - will be appriciated. I looked at the VT - recomendation - but I am lost, because I canwt deside wich city to stay near by' what is important to see. I know that Avinion is great and San Paul de Vence - but they are far from canne. I don't want the tourist beausy places - we want peace, nature, small allies, culture, maybe going out here and there . Can you recommened a place to stay, good relaiable car rental agancy, restaurnts ( you can write me details in a mail). Help dear people help.

| Cannes | 10 Hours in Cannes Posted: Wed September 5, 2007 03:22 PM UTC
On Oct 14, 2007, we (2 couples in their early 60's) will have about 10 hrs. shore time from a cruise ship. Any input as to how warm it is likely to be?
Secondly, what are some of the interesting day time things to do in Cannes - including a beer/wine stop somewhere to enjoy some local flavour? We'll have seen lots of "history" and "antiquity" by the time we get to this stop, so would probably lean toward something beachy or casual. There seems little point going to Nice or Monte Carlo (as some of the ship tours offer), when we are in CANNES! Input appreciated. |

Does anyone have any experiences, if there is a chance to get a room for reasonable price during the cannes lion festival? And is there a chance to book locally a room? Thanks for any information! | Cannes | Cannes la Bocca to TVG train station in Cannes Posted: Sun June 3, 2007 01:07 AM UTC
Hi everyone, I think this question is going to be one for someone living in Cannes. We are a family of 2 adults,2 children & luggage staying at Residence Maeva 5 rue de la Verrerie Cannes la Bocca. We will be catching the 7.30am TVG train from Cannes to Paris on Sat. Sept.1st What I need to know is how do we get from where we are staying to the station in Cannes to catch the TVG? particularly at the early time we need to leave. Would we be better just getting a taxi and if does anyone have an idea of how much that would cost. Or are there early buses or trains that would take us from la Bocca to the TVG station and if so where would we catch them in relation to where we are staying? I appreciate your help, I wouldn't have been able to plan this trip as well as I have (Or at least think I have!) without the invaluable help of other VT members. Regards, Michele

| Cannes | Driving from Cannes to Pisa Posted: Sat May 5, 2007 12:21 AM UTC
Hi everyone, can anyone give me an idea of how long it would take to drive from Cannes to the leaning tower of Pisa. We have a week in Cannes in late August and wondered if we could hire a car and do the trip. Could we drive there and back in a long day (we are from Australia where it is not uncommon to leave early in the morning and do a five hour drive spend an hour looking at something then drive the five hours straight back home)Obviously if it is a really long way to Pisa then we could stay overnight, if we had to do that does anyone know if there are any cheaper hotels in Pisa. I thank you for your advice.Regards, Michele

| Cannes | Connection between Cannes and near-by towns Posted: Fri April 13, 2007 11:38 PM UTC
I need to be in Cannes for business during The Film Festival, but apparently I cannot stay there because all hotels are already booked for that period. Which one of the near-by towns should I choose, in order to have the best connection and the easiest approach to Cannes? I am considering places it takes no more than 20-30 minutes ride to get there. Also, could you tell me how much a bus ticket would cost? And how much would be taking a cab?
Very important note, I would prefer a place that is connected with Cannes by bus at night as well. Are there any? I have been told there is only train at night, but I also read some warnings that train stations there are not very safe at that time. Could you tell me if this is true? Thanks a lot for any information you might have. |

| Cannes | Cannes to paris by train? Posted: Wed April 11, 2007 04:06 AM UTC
Hi everyone,
We will be staying in La Bocca for a week at the end of September then we must be in Paris on the 1st of September (a Saturday) I have been trying to work out whether we should fly or go by train. We are 2 adults and 2 kids, the train seems more convenient because I think it goes from Cannes (it's hard to get exact info as their english section of their web site is useless - hardly any info at all.) If we go by plane it is quicker but more expensive and we'd have to get to Nice airport to catch it. Does anyone know if the train arrives in the heart of Paris or would we have to transfer, we will be staying in the St.Germaine area. Also would it be necessary to book this far ahead or could we buy the tickets a couple of days ahead? Or should we just take the plane??? getting the message that I'm confused? It would help enormously if I could speak & read French, I'm trying to learn for our trip but only on the basics so far, I know my name which should come in handy when I get lost - which I know I will!! Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Michele |
