Carcassonne Carcassonne at the end of March
Posted: Sat February 9, 2008 04:41 PM UTC
We have planned a 4-day stay in Carcassonne at the end of March (Easter holiday), and we plan to visit the main attractions. In addition to the La Cité, we had hoped to do walks around the area.

Could anyone recommend good routes for long/short walks? Also, will the weather be OK and pleasant enough?

THANKS!

Carcassonne Weather in June
Posted: Fri February 8, 2008 10:33 AM UTC
I am planning a 3 week trip this summer to the Carcassonne area. We found a great place but it is only available during the month of June. As we had rather disappointing weather last summer, we want to be "guaranteed" of nice weather this time. Actually this is, apart from the region itself, one of the reasons to drive down south so far. Although the statistics on the various weather sites are quite OK for the month of June, I would like to be sure that June is not just too early for nice weather in the Languedoc-Roussillon. Of course nothing is so unpredictable as the weather, but can anyone tell me his/her experiences on the weather in June.

Thanks!

Carcassonne Day trips to Montsegur?
Posted: Sat January 20, 2007 03:40 AM UTC
Hi

I will be travelling on my own to Carcassone in April 07 and do not drive, but
have a particular interest in Cathar history and do not want to leave without seeing Montsegure.

I have been unable to find any organised tours or day trips on the internet that would take me to Montsegur for the day other than self-drive. Does anyone know of any other tours, guides or ways to get to Montsegur without a car?'

Your assistance is much appreciated!

Thank you

Carcassonne Area of the train station
Posted: Mon January 15, 2007 11:23 PM UTC
We are thinking of booking a holiday cottage that says it is 5 mins from the station in Carcassonne - does anyone know the area and can tell me if we would be bothered by train noise ( mainly at night)?
Be glad of your input as the holiday home looks very nice. Hope to hear someone soon :)

Carcassonne Alternatives to Train/bus: Carcassonne to Toulouse airport early morning
Posted: Fri December 8, 2006 08:44 PM UTC
Older couple will be in Carcassonne next August at the end of a tour. Need to get to Toulouse the next morning for a 6:55 A.M. flight back home. Researched the trains but nothing in the wee hours of the morning. How about a hired car/driver? Are there any transport services in Carcassonne that I could reserve? Thanks for your replies!

Carcassonne Which area to stay in Carcassonne - Cite or Ville Basse
Posted: Mon October 16, 2006 05:48 PM UTC
Hi

I am going to stay in Carcassonne for 3 nights in January and I have noticed that the cheaper accommodation is in Ville Basse. Is it easy to walk from this area to the medival Cite? Do you know how long it would take to walk?
As we are only there for a few nights we are tempted to pay more to stay in the Cite so it doesn't take long to walk home in the evenings after eating out etc. But if it easy to walk home to Ville Basse then we will stay there.
Also can anyone recommend any good value accommodation, appartments etc?

Many thanks!

Carcassonne Carcasonne or Narbonne
Posted: Sat September 30, 2006 01:48 PM UTC
We are travelling to the area in January in order to see the Castres v Wasps rugby match. We wish to stay in an interesting place other than Toulouse but need good public transport links to and from the match. We thought Carcasonne or Narbonne: which would be easier for public tranport to Castres, please?
