My engineering club at Oregon State is interested in taking a field trip to see an earthship. Is anyone aware of one around Corvallis, or in Oregon at all?
I'll be in Portland for a few days in mid Oct and will be staying somewhere near the Expo Center. Is there anything around (walking distance) that area? I'm looking for pretty neighbourhoods, cafes, shops..
Colleagues and myself are looking to plan a meeting in Bend, Oregon next summer, 2010. Unfamiliar with the area and before searching high and low wanted to ask for suggestions on area hotels with substantial meeting space and activities. Can anyone help me?
Hi. I have travelled by R.V from Calgary to Vancouver taking in all the fabulous scenery from mountains to coast including Vancouver Island. I am still hoping that there is more gorgeous scenery to discover on the west coast usa!My thoughts were to fly to Denver and travel by road to Vancouver but I am afraid of the distance to travel in 3 weeks and fear of the temperatures in the summer and altitude. So... how about a trip from Portland, Oregon up to Vancouver Island and then to mainland to fly home to UK? What I need is someone to tell me about scenic routes , best coastal areas, national park/forest areas of beauty along the way! Oh, it would be great to see some photos! We will be hiring an R.V and love to park up in National Park sites with hook ups occasionally! so any suggestions are very welcome. Thanks!
My two sisters and I plan to take our mom to visit Seaside for her birthday but it is a last minute decision. I have reviewed what accommodation appears to be available at the end of August for 4 women and it all has fairly poor reviews. We were hoping to be on the ocean or at least close by. Any ideas where we might try that would be clean and handy for walking to town and the beach? My mom will be 75 and has dreamed of seeing the Oregon coast, we want it to be wonderful for her.

In a week i will be headed for Portland. It iwill be my first time in Portland. I will be there for several days. I am arriving at 104o pm. Can i still take the metro to my hotel St. Lucia ? Best Italian restaurant in Portland? Vegetarian food?
I'm staying in Portland from August 13-17 and am looking to check out some live bands. Any bands playing those nights that are of the sloppy garage rock style?
Also any live music listings site out there for Portland? Thanks.
My husband read that at low tide you can walk out to Haystack Rock. We will be there about 1 hour after the lowest tide - is that too late to be able to walk out to it?

Hi everyone!
What are some must-dos along the Oregon coast? We are going to the Tillamook Dairy and are thinking about dune riding. We have two boys aged 11 and 9 that are well-traveled and so enjoy almost anything - we are all very active!
Hi!
My husband and I would like to take our kids to the Tillamook Dairy while in Oregon. Can anyone recommend how long we should plan for our visit there?
Thanks so much for your help!
Oneonta Gorge Posted: Sun July 12, 2009 04:17 AM UTC
If you have walked up the Gorge, can you tell me on a scale of 1 to 10 how difficult it is to walk up? How long does it take to walk up to the falls? I understand I'll be needing my watersox to do this walk and toting my camera bag over my head...will the water be fairly deep and cold in mid-May? This year in May, it was warm in the Seattle area where I was visiting (got a sunburn!), so would it be the same in the Columbia River Gorge areas? Also, wanting to take the loop walk at Silver Falls State Park, same time of year. How long would it take to walk the whole loop, stopping to take lots of photos?
In between flights, we have 4 hours in Portland. Is it possible to take a cab from the airport into town and do some sightseeing and return to the airport? Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks..
I'm planning a quick long weekender trip to Oregon this fall and I have Ramona Falls and Multnomah Falls on my list of must-see's. We plan to fly into Portland and rent a car and drive to these locations. Any suggestions as to which to visit first or other awesome waterfalls to add to this list? The Columbia River Gorge seems to have a plethora of waterfalls we can visit, but I'm only interested in the easy ones to get to (besides the 2 listed above). Also, on one of my HD tv 'photo landscapes' channels featuring Oregon, there was a photo of what looked like a cave near the ocean (?) with plenty of light and a dribble of water cascading down...there was no title for the photo--any idea where there are caves near open water where you can paddle a boat through? Very green and lush! I'll add it to my list if it can be located for me.
I will be staying at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront on SW Naito Parkway at the beginning of August. I would like to go to dinner with a group of about ten people at a nearby restaurant. Can anyone recommend a good place that is quiet so that we can hear each other talk and the food is good?
My family and I would be visiting a sister in San Jose this late July but in order to break the monotony of long driving from Vancouver, we intend to spend the night in a motel near I-5. I have two questions:
1. I think Portland is about 6 hours from Vancouver. What is the city/town
along 1-5 that is about 8 hours' drive from Vancouver?
2. Can you recommend a motel and a tourist attraction on this City (whatever city that is about 8 hrs' drive from Vancouver) that is near 1-5? how about some websites? Only my husband and my 18 year old kid would be travelling, so we prefer not to visit kiddie attractions...
Hiya folks. I'm going to be spending a couple of days in the Medford area. I'll be hiking around Crater lake, then sticking around the area for a few days. I have a few questions, that I'd love some advice on.
1. We're going around May 15, so might be a bit of snow up high. Anyone have any thougts on great hikes in the area? Can we hike around the rim of the crater?
2. Any great places to see or spend a night in the area not immediately near Crater Lake? I like the town of Jacksonville. Any other cool spots for a few hours or place to over night?
3. What about other great hiking areas nearby?
4. Any thoughts on best place to stay and or great restaurants/local spots in Medford?
Thoughts, suggestions, advice on any of the above are greatly appreciated!
My sister and I are planning a trip to Crater Lake and have read about a boat ride on the lake. Is the only access to this ride the hike down to the water's edge, or are there shuttle buses from the rim to the water? Thanks in advance for any replies. Judy
Attractions Posted: Sat April 4, 2009 01:52 AM UTC
I'm travelling the u.s. at the moment and i've stopped over in Eugene/springfield, OR to see a mate for this weekend. I was wondering what are the attractions to check out? We don't have a car so a far off travel won't be possible. I'm staying in the city area.

We will be visiting Portland, OR for the first time in April for an auto swap meet held at the Expo Centre. We are looking for a motel close by or close to a shuttle. The woman in our group would like to be close to a shopping mall.
Any suggestions? Any other information regarding attractions, etc would be appreciated. Thanks
