Cincinnati State parks and hill stations near Cincinnati
Posted: Thu May 8, 2008 07:43 AM UTC
Hi:

I would like to know if there are any good state parks or hill stations near Cincinnati. I would be staying for a week in Cincinnati and i can make only day trips. I need to return back to Cincinnati by late evening. I had visited all the museums in Cincinnati when i visited last time and i'm more keen on visiting scenic places this time. Any suggestions in this regard would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Cincinnati Accomodations with good pool
Posted: Wed May 7, 2008 08:11 PM UTC
Visiting Cincinnat in June and looking for a hotel with a good pool - We are visiting friends who live in Milford as well as Silverton so that side of town is best.

Has anyone been to the Great Wolf Suites and Waterpark in Mason? What is it like? Also, how far is Mason from Milford?

Thanks! Ruth

I cannot find a website on them and when I called they said they don't have one. They said they have 12 rooms.

The one thing they said was they are in walking distance to the Outlet shopping.

I want to see a picture before I book.

My child and friends are visiting Dayton, OH. The plan to be lodging within 8 miles North or possibly South of the University of Dayton Arena. Is this area a safe place for them to stay? They plan to be lodging and eating in the same areas.

Ohio Marriage in Cleveland and in Tucson 3 weeks later.
Posted: Tue February 26, 2008 01:19 PM UTC
Dear reader, I'm writing you as you have been on VT's network not too long ago.
I'm looking for possibilities; here is why: This year in September 2 daughters of old friends of ours, (used to live in Holland) will get married; the first marriage is in Cleveland Ohio and the secand one will marry in Tucson Arizona three weeks later. My idea is to fly from Holland to Cleveland, rent (or buy) a camper (RV) and drive to Tucson. I would leave (or sell) the RV there and fly from Phoenix back to Holland.
My question: do you know of the availability of companies (or persons) wanting
to rent or sell a camper to me. If I look at the internet, Chicago is the
nearest place where I can rent an RV and leave it in Phoenix.
Hopefully I can have an early response from you. All the best, enjoy life!. Jan

Cincinnati 1 week in Cincinnati...advise on fun things to do
Posted: Mon February 25, 2008 09:56 PM UTC
Hi VTs, I work for GE in Mexico and will be spending one week in mid april (19-27) in Cincinnati, visiting GE's plant in Evendale with two other workmates. This will be our first time in OH, and I wanted to ask for a couple of things:

- What are some cool pubs/bars to get an after-work drink?
- Do you know of any salsa club in the Cinci area?
- What malls would you recommend for a visit (looking for A&F, AE, GAP, kind of stores)?
- Is there any amusement park within driving distance?
- What other tips could you give to 3 late-20s mexican engineers to have a good time while in Cincinnati?

thanks a lot.

Rodrigo.

Ohio Lake Erie Coastal Scenic Byway (Cleveland to Toledo)
Posted: Sat February 9, 2008 07:50 PM UTC
During the fist week of April my mom and I are going on a road trip. Towards the end of it we will be driving through Ohio. We will be coming from VA, North on HW 77. Driving up that until we hit Cleveland. Once we get to Cleveland or around the area we plan to stay in a hotel for the night. From here we plan to drive along Lake Erie. Here is where my questions come in to play... what are the must see places along Lake Erie from Cleveland to Toledo? Also is the best route to take the Lake Erie Coastal Scenic Byway?

We want to see some of the lake, beaches, lighthouses, outdoors type stuff. Mostly we are looking for things that won't cost money because we are on a tight budget(and that type of stuff really doesn't anyways). It will be a trip made in one day though! Any suggestions are very highly appreciated! Also, any really, really good places to eat along the way in there?? Either leave me on here or send me a message!

Thanks to anyone who will take the time to give me any ideas!

Cincinnati What is up with the flying pigs in Cincinatti?
Posted: Thu December 27, 2007 02:49 PM UTC
I get why there are pigs everywhere; Cincinatti was very heavily involved in the pork industry. But why are they flying pigs?

I was told by someone that way back when, there was a barge floating through Cincinatti with a load of pigs going toward the slaughterhouse. There was substancial fog that day and it made it look as if the pigs were flying through the city. My Aunt said it was a nice story, but probably untrue and I cannot find anything on line to corroborate what I've heard.

I was wondering, what with it being Christmas and all, why don't we all just stay at home? If we killed any cows in the area too, that would just about solve the global warming problem, wouldn't it?

Al Gore got a Nobel Prize for worse ideas than that and WHEN is he going to go on a diet?

Cleveland Van Halen Concert, Oct 10 - coming in by bus - where to eat and drink before and/or after near H.Inn
Posted: Thu September 20, 2007 05:22 AM UTC
Hi! 'Anyone going to see Van Halen on Oct. 10th at Quicken Loans Arena? (with tickets on the floor?)
My brother is taking a Greyhound in from New York and me, from Toledo. Once we meet up at the bus station we have to walk to the Holiday Inn Express (.03 mi from Quicken Loans Arena), check in, then get primed for the concert. I haven't seen him in 2 years! I can't wait.
WE don't want to spend another arm and a leg (the tickets and the hotel were a lot!) but thought we'd grab a bite and have a few drinks on the way from the hotel to the concert. Any suggestions of where to go between the hotel on Euclid St., and the Arena? Is there any place decent to eat before we leave the next day from the Greyhound station (near it)? Is that a "shady" area by any chance...? 'Think we should take a cab from there to and from the hotel, or would it be okay to walk?

If you have a seat on the floor, section 4, let me know! He'll be up by the stage and I'll be there in my seat, hopefully standing at least, but all by my lonesome. (I am 47 yrs old, not bad looking but a little extra poundage, and I'm a really nice person, and fun to go to concerts with - not too loud, but not a mealy mouse either.) I don't do mosh pits...can't breathe up there anymore. I'm still a concert aficionado, it's just that mosh pits aren't like they were in the 70's when I first started going to concerts.

Thanks for any suggestions that anyone can make to help us enjoy ourselves while we are there for just a day and a half without having to spend another 100. dollars! (Gees - the t-shirts will be another 100.00 - hope he has enough to cover it LOL!!)

Thanks for reading my post,

Cincinnati Need Suggestions!
Posted: Wed August 22, 2007 11:45 PM UTC
We've got a group of about 15 women for a Bachelorette Party heading to Cinci and trying to find a good place to eat that would be versatile for all the different taste buds and wouldn't be too abrasive to the pocketbooks. I've been checking out all the tips and the more I look the more indecisive I become. Any suggestions??
